  1. The Bears haven't had a receiver with 1,000 yards since Marty Booker in 2002. Nine f***ing years? That's complete ignorance of a problem and trying to sell fans on Hester/Muhammed/Williams as legit #1's when they either don't know the position are are WELL past their primes.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) GMAB man, the "Next level" with the Packers/Saints? Patriots I'll grant you but they have one incredible QB that keys the whole thing, and still they haven't won a Super Bowl since 2004, so by your own standard there's something wrong. The Saints had that Conference championship run in 2006, then dropped to 7-9 and 8-8 and missed the playoffs the next 2 seasons before finally snapping together their super bowl run. The Packers went 6-10 as recently as 2008, struggled mightily with their offensive line throughout 2009, and frankly nearly missed the playoffs in 2010. The only thing different here with the Bears compared to those 2 teams is that the Bears didn't finish the Super Bowl win. All 3 of those teams have had down/inconsistent seasons, playoff runs that ended in disappointment, etc., the only difference is a Super Bowl win. Dude, the Packers have been a consistent Super Bowl threat for like 15+ years. Even through personnel changes. They are run properly. Sure, you are going to have down years, but they've found different ways to win. The Bears have been one f***ing note (when competing) for a very long time. All D, no O. And nothing has changed. That's an organizational problem.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) Winning football games with an intelligent, bend but don't break defense is not a sexy thing in this league, but it is more effective than almost anyone is willing to admit. Inaccurate. You'd be hard-pressed to find a knowledgeable fan who had a problem admitting that the Bears defense has been damn-solid over the past decade. The Bears have made their runs, they've made the playoffs, hell a Super Bowl, but the same problem has persisted. Instead of shooting to the next-level, you know, where the Packers/Saints/Patriots have resided for some time despite numerous personnel changes, they have stayed exactly the same... cover-2, bend don't break effective defense and an offense that is utterly pathetic. Yes, it's been a successful run for the Bears and certainly better than the 90s, but that doesn't mean they've capitalized on the possibilities. The fact remains, the Bears are 25+ years removed from their last Superbowl win. That's a long f***ing time.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 08:16 AM) Stalberg was injured as well. (rumor is potential ACL/MCL) If his and Smith's injury are serious, Hawks will be down 3 guys to start the season. (Carcillo 2 game suspension) Might see a couple of youth guys make the team to start. Yeah, Stalberg is toast. We'll likely see some rooks on 9-game tryouts to start the season.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) You have to be kidding me! This announcer on ESPN has to be the most boring announcer ever. That HR was epic, and he didn't even sound excited. Of course, that's BC they are rooting for the red sox.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Greg- I want you to consider something. You seem like a very loyal guy. Loyal to players, coaches and managers that had a lot of meaning to the organization. Even well after their prime, you defend them. There is something good about that. But let me ask you this. Let's say you are in Jerry Reinsdorff's shoes. He too is a very loyal guy (which alone should tell you something here). The organization has had multiple disappointing years in a row, despite your spending of a lot of money. You've got two people under him, that over the past month, have done this: Person #1 offered to step down to a lower role due to the failures of the team. Person #2 asked repeatedly for a raise and a long term contract, despite those same failures. So, if loyalty is your game... which of those two do you keep? Because it seems to me that you are backing the wrong horse here, based on your own admitted tendencies. Wow, this is a fantastic post.
  7. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) lol Coop sounds like he wants to be the 2012 mgr Actually... he really did. That was quite the interview.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) I'd like the world to know I LOVED that article. See that's where we agree to disagree. I love Ozzie Guillen. But that article was filled with tons of one-sided misinformation.
  9. SHOCKER HE GOES TO A'S BILLY BEANE IS A GENIUS WALKS ARE COOL BRAD PITT
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) scottmerkin Scott Merkin White Sox go over 2,000,000 in attendance for the sixth straight season and 13th overall I can't believe they broke 500,000. This was the most frustrating team ever.
  11. Steve9347 Steve H. @cst_Cowley The Sox are going to miss a guy who openly admits he lost his passion for managing their team two years ago? cst_Cowley cst_Cowley I really do like Jerry Reinsdorf - whether he believes that or not - I just feel bad he has some serious liars in his midst. cst_Cowley cst_Cowley @Steve9347 Until the games started, was the quote. Get it right. If you heard what I did, you would understand why. Steve9347 Steve H. @cst_Cowley Feel free to direct message if you care to share... these vague references hurt credibility. #sorry
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) cst_Cowley cst_Cowley cst_Cowley I didn't know if Oz going to Miami was a good decision, but after the stuff I heard, plus how Miami is embracing him.... not even close. I love his vague references to stuff he has heard. He does that s*** all the time. We won't be worrying about Cowley much longer, the Sun-Times can't pay him to follow the Guillen family around forever.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) Its 55 people now that Cowley read it! WOOT!
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) Steve9347 Steve H. I would like the world to know that this article suntimes.com/sports/7914554… by @cst_Cowley is a pile of garbage. cst_Cowley cst_Cowley @ @Steve9347 Does 54 followers constitute the world? Then mission accomplished Ralph Malph. Grats. ROFL - I hope he realizes his reading from me how much that article sucked = mission accomplished. Also, now all of his followers are privy to that post!
  15. Steve9347 Steve H. I would like the world to know that this article suntimes.com/sports/7914554… by @cst_Cowley is a pile of garbage.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) How embarrasing for Cowley. I mean, he's even got the other writers making fun of him for his complete lack of professionalism. It takes a lot for that to happen among journalists. I'm amazed the Sun Times keeps him around, and with Ozzie gone, I somehow suspect he's gone from that job soon. Oh yeah, his only value was the fact that he had the scoop on all things Ozzie.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) This guy never disappoints. People complained that the constant negativity drove "good" posters away, but look what the incessant crap from guys like greg is doing. It's driving legitimately good posters like qwerty away to the point that we hardly see him post anymore. POOR QWERTY! OH NO! Are you f***ing kidding me? He can't ignore greg? Really? This is a complete joke. It's a message board, you have to expect your fair share of trolls, homers, geniuses, smartasses, idiots, fake accounts, etc. If poor QWERTY can't handle or ignore greg's posts, then he certainly can be gone. Lord knows his attacks on greg have far-exceeded posts that got me hefty suspensions.
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) @clarkspencer - Ozzie guillen: "something was missing" last couple of years in chicago in terms of his passion Yeah, the passion for baseball was supplanted by the passion for websites, tweets, and FOX jobs in the postseason. Hell, it was better for his recognition if the Sox didn't make it so he could then be a commentator. All this crap makes me even more enraged that it took so long to get rid of him.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) Sweet jesus, I am so ready for next season to start! Really?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I have absolutely zero problems with this and am happy to tell anyone who does have a problem with it to leave me alone. I agree completely. Hawk is awesome in his own way.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) This really should not be in green. You may hate some/most of the things the Bears have done, but the wins and losses are right there in front of you. Two runs? Imagine if they'd addressed the consistent glaring needs of this roster the last decade?
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) See my Konerko post. He should be ripped for sitting the last two games at home to stay at .300. One game? Ok, maybe. Two games? Bush League. Oh come on... maybe the old man is exhausted from carrying this pathetic roster all year long.
  23. Steve9347 Steve H. Ozzie Guillen slips and says he wants people in Chicago to be happy with the ballclub instead of Miami.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) BNightengale Bob Nightengale #mlb #Marlins Joe Frisaro reporting that Guillen will get four-year, $10 million contract Well, it's more than $2 million per, SO OZZIE WINS!!! YES!
