    2011 TV Thread

    I thought Breaking Bad was pretty damn great this week.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) You think Weaver will win the Cy Young over Verlander? I was just typing. Yes, absolutely runner-up. Verlander is God.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) No, it's not. If a guy is getting out of trouble all the time it's only a matter of time until he's snakebitten. You're smarter than this. Relievers are the streakiest, least-dependable players in major league baseball (for obvious reasons). The motherf***er is perfect and it's the end of August. There's no doubting he's been the best this year. You go to the 9th down a run, the game is over against the Tigers. Next year, he'll probably lose his first 8 times out, but when you're a hot reliever, sometimes it just works.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) Tigers are damn good. The best starting pitcher in baseball, the best closer in baseball, one of the best 1B in the majors, one of the best SS in the majors, one of the best catchers in the majors...and then you have a lot of other solid bads. I know Benoit started off poorly, but he's been much better lately as well. I can't believe how many people scoffed at the Doug Fister acquisition. There there's a damn-fine pitcher.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) I'll give you some free ones so you can go and weep yourself to sleep after a loss. I was offered free tickets 10 rows off the field for a date in September. I declined. This sucks. I went to 7 games in April/May, then realized this f***ing team blows. I wish management would have realized that and gone through with a blowup prior to the deadline. God damn KW, always down with the ship instead of hopping on a raft and manning the next one. This team is f***ed for a long time.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Except of course that Manny Thome. So no, nothing like the same. I dunno... an aging DH with on base abilities who can't play everday? That seems to sum up both of them. GOD, remember the stupidity of the Manny acquisition? We were awarded the claim, and he didn't play for like a week after that. They had the man in uniform, but didn't play him, and were paying him $5 million for that one month of baseball. Hawk must have credited like 7 homers to being because Manny was on deck.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) I'm actually pretty happy the Sox claimed Thome. The team is on the brink, chances of winning the division are dwindling fast, but it is not quite over yet. I'm actually pretty happy the Sox claimed Manny. The team is on the brink, chances of winning the division are dwindling fast, but it is not quite over yet. 2011. The same as 2010.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Why would the Tigers block a trade to a team that they are not competing against, when it hurts the team they are directly competing against? LOL @ the White Sox competing.
  9. This is just weird and pathetic. The Sox could have kept big Jim for 1.5 million two years ago but forced him out. This team has really been a joke with no plan claiming has-beens like Manny, over-paid never weres like Alex Rios, etc. Now Kenny, what are you going to do? Have Dunn ride the bench while a 42 year old who is better than him plays DH? Have Thome ride out his final days on the bench for those few great standing ovations as #25 sells some tickets and a few more jerseys? You could have had Viciedo raking up here before he got injured, and he could come up now. This team has no plan and is grasping at straws trying to steal a possible bench World Series ring from Big Jim, as well as your money, White Sox fans. My sig is returned.
  10. QUOTE (Felix @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) This is incredibly common in sports. Lots of teams follow up with people pretty recently after the game they bought single-game seats for. I bought the tickets in April. I've purchased tickets every year since I graduated high school (2001). This is the first such phone call I've ever received.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) 410 feet doesn't seem too big. That's what she said.
  12. I just received a call from them asking if I wanted to purchase any tickets since I'd "purhcased some already for the 2011 season". Are they really calling anyone who has purchased single-game tickets, now? Yikes.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) One stat that was given last night was that the Bears led the league in 3 and outs last year. The Bears do this every year, no one needs ESPN to give that stat to know that. The only question is how much distance will be between them and the 29th team.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Jaworski did a really nice breakdown early in the game of Cutler's footwork on his throws, how he was planting and having the knee in the right spot before launching. Cutler would be in line for a career year if he had an O-Line and receivers worth a s***.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) He is going to piss off alot of Bear fans this season. I still want to see him make his money in the red zone though. Let Bennett and the other WRs make their living off those crucial 3rd/4th down plays. Hester is just not a great option to work those tough battles in the red zone. Sorry, a guy anointed our #1 WR needs to catch most balls that hit his hands.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) well, he IS a vegetarian.......just sayin' He's a vegan, and I do not get the joke.
  17. The rumor that Roy Williams is going to reinvent himself back under Mike Martz is a joke. This guy can't catch for s*** and always has a million excuses.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Sqwert is a big Raiders fan, and he has pretty much said he hopes it will happen soon If Marko were a real man he'd take out Al Davis himself. Just sayin'.
  19. QUOTE (onedude @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) I liked The Score, that was 10 years ago IM ON THE PHONE... B*TCH!
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 07:19 AM) This is why you are greg775, Faceless Internet Poster instead of greg775, GM of the White Sox. *greg775, Member of Chris Rongey Fan Club
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) The title of this thread reminds me of a Caulfield style post. The title of this thread makes me want to self-mutilate.
  22. Who cares, the Tigers have already won this division.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Is the Batman second from the left from "The Dark Knight Returns" graphic novel? He definitely looks older/pudgier. Yessir. That was one badass graphic novel.
