  1. Uh, no f***ing way. I want E-Jax this year.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) All I did was point out the flawed thinking that top 10 players carry their teams to at least .500 records. For the record, I don't think of Love as a top 10 NBA player, and would never be foolish enough to compare him to MJ, but saying he's not a top 10 player based on Timberwolves losses isn't exactly fair. Completely different eras, dude.
  3. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 06:21 AM) I'll re-phrase that. If you were selecting players to build a franchise around for the next 10 years, Love and Griffin would be on my list. EDIT: I also think you have to look at who's coaching both teams and the surrounding talent they have on their roster. Nah, Love wouldn't be in my top 10.
  4. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Griffin is also basically a rookie (since he technically missed all of his 1st season), and Love's in his 3rd season in the league. Griffin also has a higher FG%, and i only expect this to get better going forward as he becomes a better shooter. Argubly, both these players are already top 10 players in the NBA and guys you can build a team around. Kevin Love is NOT a f***ing top 10 player in the NBA. I care not what PER says on this subject... and points and rebounds are glamorous, but GTFO. Top 10 players don't play on 10-30 teams. They carry their teams to AT LEAST .500. He's a decent passer, and a fantastic rebounder with little competition for that statistic on his roster. Kevin Love. Top 10. NBA. GTFO. I won't even bother to comment on the audacity of calling Blake Griffin a top 10 player in the League right now.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) point: strangesox. You have to give him more than one point for that!
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) I know how you feel. These girls in their twenties at work are all excited about going. I'm sure they will have facebook pics of themselves with the game going on behind them. Yup my sister-in-law and my wife's best friend are both randomly going. You could not pay them to sit and actually watch a Bears game on tv, but both have fresh statuses about it. Bah.

    2011 TV Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) I love that Lights is a jag and not all that likable as the main character. I like / don't like him, it's weird. His brother's character is a bit overplayed, but it's entertaining. I'll be interested to see in which ways they have him make money (and will he go through with the comeback).
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) From everything I've read, 100% of her rugged outdoors invidivualism persona is fabricated bulls***. She doesn't appear to know how to handle firearms, fish, get around in the wilderness, etc. My Lord how many times can points like these be re-posted? Either people understand reality or they don't, I don't think more of this discussion is needed!
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) The reason Qwerty and Kal are so good at it is because they limit their points to facts and data. Some of the rest of us like to mix in too many adjectives and profanities, or make the points of a personal nature from time to time, myself included. F*ck yeah we do.

    2011 TV Thread

I finally got around to watching the first episode of "Lights Out". Once again, FX horribly mis-marketed it, and I'm already hooked.
  11. I am so tired of people who haven't cared about the Bears all year posting on FB how excited they are that they got a free ticket to Sunday's game. And yes, it's sour grapes.
  12. More annoyance this year... Twins re-signed DH Jim Thome to a one-year, $3 million contract with incentives based on plate appearances. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines...B&hl=311198
  13. was pisces, now aquarius, still don't care
  14. Kovalchuk has always been one of the worst two-way players in hockey, but people used to just blame it on his playing on a bad Thrashers team. He gives zero effort back there. New Jersey is f***ed with that contract if Kovalchuk contributes nothing on offense like he has this season.
  15. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Heyman reporting Yanks will sign Soriano and indeed surrender their pick. Likely to be 3/35. No way we were ever that close to his price. Oh well the speculation was fun. Link: http://twitter.com/SI_JonHeyman/status/25731057428992000 Holy f*** that is retarded money.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/01/whit...el-soriano.html Looks like we'll be waiting for a real good bargain. This isn't really news. The only way I see it working is if he's willing to defer a f***ton.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 06:46 PM) Not to mention lots of that summer stuff is paid on top of their annual contract salary. I covered that with "bump in pay". And Balta, yes, most teachers are overpaid given they work 75% of a calendar year. Also, it's complete horses*** that you earn tenure after 4-5 years and once you get that it's practically impossible to lose your job hence a lot of teachers doing their job poorly. Now you admit that most teachers work considerably less than other professions.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) You don't know that many teachers if you think they're not doing stuff during the summer. Enrichment courses (often mandatory), lesson plans, cleaning up from one year and starting another, etc. Uhm. Actually, I'd say every female in my family the last three generations is a teacher. Yeah, they take some "enrichment courses" that come with a nice bump in pay (you should see these people flock to get their 5th masters in some totally unrelated field as well to get that bump in pay too, oh boy!). The clean-up process for the room (and it cannot be worse than my mother's room, since she teaches kindergarten) is one week of going in at 10 and leaving at 2. Lesson plans are not thought about until two weeks prior to school starting, and are often recycled. You seem to be very ill-informed on the amount of work a teacher does during the summer.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) I would have preferred a gradual increase over time, instead of a steep increase with a promised reduction in the future. We all know that isn't happening.
  20. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) I wish Chicago would open a land based casino though and gain the revenue that the citizens are pumping into other municipalities and states. This would make too much sense, though.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 08:05 AM) None that I have ever met. Typical high school teachers work significantly more than 40 hours a week and usually have work at home as well. What happens when you subtract the 3 months they do jack s*** during the year? Take out those 12 weeks and tell me they don't average about 6 hours/day and way less than 40 hours per week.
  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Each phone has pros and cons, you have to figure which one fits your needs the best. Do you use it primarily for email? Entertainment? Do you like to mess with your phone a lot or keep it simple? etc.... I have yet to find a con for my Evo 4G.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) Oh wait, just saw this too from the linked article. The car she is driven around in is a Dodge Caravan, which is leased for $13,680 a year. That's $1100+ a month, for a f***ing minivan. Unbelievable.
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) The race is a foregone conclusion...Rahm won. This. It's already over. His latest commercial annoys me with his inability to speak in complete sentences. But that's Rahm.
