MLB Discipline for pitchers a joke
Won't Beckett lose 5 days worth of pay? That's gotta be worth something.

Mike North or David Kaplan
On a related note... what's up with Kaplan's recently bronzed skin? He looks like he's from south of the border lately.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) I watched Jordan. That was the most incredible basketball game i've ever seen. Let's not get carried away here, dude. There's about 10 games off the top of my head I can think of that had more significance involving the Bulls/Jordan that were way better than that one. It was awesome, but get real!

What a game. Despite the referees' best efforts to give the Celtics every close call, the Bulls pulled it off. Watch out, Boston!

I think one thing we're seeing with the ESPN Chicago.com is the regular site is paying more attention to our sports as well. Right now, the front page story at ESPN.com is this excellent writeup on Rocky Wirtz. Enjoy. Rocky Wirtz ESPN Article

Rays should be contracted...IMMEDIATELY
QUOTE (FedEx227 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) I believe I saw a half empty stadium on our side of town our 2nd game of the year too. No, they don't draw well but are we as Sox fans really able to call teams out on lack of attendance when we ourselves have struggled with it for years? 3,000 in a dome at 7pm local time is different than 18,000 in 30 degree weather during the day on a workday.

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) He's hitting about as well as Frank would if he were on the team. Sorry Thome lovers but he's done. Yeah he'll have a few HRs this year but I'll be amazed if he hits .250. He was late on three identical low-90s fastballs from Balfour. I agree, Big Jim is toast.

Agreed. They should move to Las Vegas. Throw Texas in the East, as they probably belong there more than the West. Wham bam.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) Correct me if I'm wrong, as I've only really started following hockey the past few years, but don't they restructure the seeds after each round? So the only way the Hawks would play the St. Louis/Vancouver winner would be if Anaheim or Columbus upset? link It seems that you are right. It's been since before the rules were changed that the Hawks advanced past the 1st round, so I haven't cared to learn the new rules! Hilarious.

What type of baseball player would you be?

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) I could probably only name 10 Hawks players from the top of my head... I'm not one of you hardcore fans, but it is cool as f*** to see them winning. Hopefully they go all the way. Hockey is interesting. If you get a hot goaltender, you can ride him to the Cup. One thing that works out enormously in the Hawks' favor is their side of the playoff tree would have them playing the winner of St. Louis/Vancouver if they get past the Flames. Meanwhile, the Sharks and Redwings would be duking it out, if they both get past the first round. Last night's game proves Anaheim was a very unlucky draw for the Sharks in round 1, however. I could easily see it being Wings/Ducks in round 2.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 12:19 AM) It can't be reviewed, it's either interference live or not at all. I'm as unbiased as they come, and I think the right (no) call was made, as though Ladd drove hard, the contact was initiated by Leopold, who got beat to the net after turning it over. The more I look at this thing, especially from behind the net, the more it just looks like Kipper got beat. I don't really know how. Well, I do, he never really picked up the puck coming out of OJ's legs. But even so, I'm shocked that's what beat him. Huge f***in win. You are right on both accounts. That was just the shot he didn't expect... on the ice. Havlat kept it low and it happened in the net. As for the no-call, Leopold was pushing Ladd, and it's the playoffs. There were a lot of no-calls.
