I give DET credit for doing what they can to improve, recognizing weakness and acting like they're "all in." But nothing would give me more joy than to see them NOT win the division, esp after extending Dumbrowski and Leyland.

The proverbial "dog days of summer." You just can't lose 2 of 3 to the last place team in the division. We finished 88-74 last year, but were 65-52 on this date. So yeah, things can change pretty dramatically over the next month and a half. Just look at our schedule in September.

He's right though, you have to look at Beckham and Alexei as well. I like Gordon, I think he's a good guy and I love his defense and his hustle, but his plate appearances are almost uncomfortable to watch. Alexei hit .220 in July and is hitting .205 in August. Just brutal.
