Paul Konerko Will Sign With The Sox???
Bubba Philips replied to Southside hitmen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
daigle was 2 for 5 a 3 run blast. THe giants are asking for a #3 pitcher for Schmidt ...would they take Konerko. I don't t hink the sox want him next year. Giants are a little light at first.. We could move our lineup around. Move Dye to cleanup.. This is conjecture of course what would you rather have a 1 or 2 pitcher or a decent but sometime streaky power hitter who certainly is worth his money? DO I get the stupid award for this. Can we replace Konerko with say a Hillenbran for the remainder of the season. -
Leo Daigle is at AAA charlotte he hit a homer off Shilling in his rehab start. Change is coming! SOmeone is going to be called up soon.. The sox are now moving their minor leaguers ... It's written on the CHISOX down on the farm segment after Marte on dl. Thankyou KW

Paul Konerko Will Sign With The Sox???

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Actually I believe it was more that he had already accepted a deal in principle from the Sox...Arizona was calling him and upping their offer while he was taking his physical, and he wasn't going to back out on our deal after he had already given a verbal agreement, even though he was technically not locked in at that point. Paulie likes playing he's played well for the sox. If we can't come to terms I like the idea of getting a better fielding first baseman with more range. SOmeone who can run the bases and hit for average.. Who could lay down a bunt instead of hitting into a double play. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) And it could also be used to bash Walker in the head, thus rendering him unable to pitch. well Walker had 4.19 era in 66 inningsfor san diego in 2000 .. He hasn't returned to form since. Perhaps the sox are going to give him some unemployment forms after he pitches ineffectively through some games or maybe he's reading this and will pitch his ass off being effective against left -handers. Oh checking the 2004 draft we have an abundance of left handers in our system. Who's ready to play? I don't know but if KW doesn't bring some up to the show for a cup of coffee we'll never know what to expect. I'd say Bobby Jenks is close but they say he's not mentally ready. I say bring him up the sox family will help him make the adjustment

The Gigantic all encompassing TRADE THREAD

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Yes, Peter Gammons said we'd win the WS. Much of this talk hinges on the performance of a Ross Gload and Brandon McCarthy. I'm guessing it will be particularlly important if McCarthy has a good start against the TIgers today and if he does we might keep him for ourselves. Gload if he comes back an resumes last year's performance. Scouts and gms aren't stupid they'll likely wait a few days to see who's hot and who's not they have to way the downside and upside of all players involved. If wishing were good enough we could trade Viscaino for Schmidt even up. As far as Gammons it surprises me that he ever said anything good about the sox. -
The Gigantic all encompassing TRADE THREAD

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Its very simple. Buehrle, Schmidt, Garland, Garcia, Contreras > Beuhrle, Garcia, Garland, Contreras, El Duque still AJ knows Schmidt I'm sure kw and him have spoken.. I like jAMIE moyer even if he just has this season and maybe next left I think he carries less baggage and has a good strikeout to walk ration, a 4.36 era would be lowered playing with a better defense . A move just might pump him up. He knows how to pitch. . He's stayed healthy he's a workhorse. I DON'T THINK HE'S A LONG TERM SOLUTION AND i DON'T KNOW ABOUT HIS CONTRACT. -
Flubs vs. White Sox 6/26/05 game thread

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Who would have predicted that happening? I predicted this happening .. Yesterday it was maddox's pitch a whole baseball outside and after it broke it was wellll beyond frank's bat and today no smart ball just get up there and get three strikes on you and grab some bench. Prior had nothing special today. We could afford to give the cubs two it was a sympathy win for the cubs................ -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Well the Marlins had a very experiances manager, the red sox have been in the playoff plenty of times since the wildcard era and the Angels... they well they got lucky and faced a 1 man giants team. I think August will be our toughest month 6 with the Yankees, 6 with Boston , 5with minnesota, 3 with Texas. andI hate to say it but the rest of our division is playing better.. We got a ways to go.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) i get to watch the yankees every day out here. they are probably the 7th best team in the AL. beating them most definitely wouldn't be beating the best. i agree with the rest. the angels would be best matchup, the angels, the worst. I fear the Rangers they have more pure power throughout their line up. I must say there are a lot of teams that were dormant are now coming to life....Cleveland , Yankees... who knows who will be hot then...

QUOTE(forrestg @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I agree about Pods aagainst lee's value but could we trade Viscaino back to the brewers for any minor leaguer

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) I was going to reply to a DUMBASS post on WhiteSox.com, but then I remembered why I'm here in the first place. I honestly think stupid people like to be around stupid people, and stupid people seem to post on WhiteSox.com (sorry if any of you post there). Someone stated that they'd give Viz and Pods back for Lee, because with Lee our offense would be killer. How dumb of a statement is this?!@#$!#@ Seriousy, open your mind. This game was and IS about more than offense. We are winning -- WITHOUT Lee. Not to mention we HAD Lee and for three consecutive years we BOMBED. I recall frequent miscues by Lee, spurts of total lazyness, dumb outfield plays and then ultra-hot-streaks where he'd hit multiple home runs and drive in 6 RBI's in a game...when we were already winning that game 10-0. I never recall Lee helping us a lick when we were down 1-0, though. How many times has Pods changed the face of a game just by getting on when we were down 1-0?! Vizciano is a disappointment, yes...but he's better than he's pitching and I'm sure it's merely because we aren't using him the right way. I see a tendendy to overuse his breaking pitches rather than use that moving fastball...we need to stop this. As for Podsednik, he brings something to the game that you cannot see on the surface and I think it FAR outweighs Lee's power numbers. Pods can score from first on a long single (if necessary), Lee cannot. Pods puts pressure (constant pressure) on opposing pitchers and defenses, Lee cannot. Lee falls asleep and gets picked off at the most mis-opportune times, Pods does not. Lee has better power numbers than Pods, no doubt about it...and he can keep them. Lee didn't terrify an entire team when he got on base...Podsednik does, and that -- at least to me -- is bigger than any home run. I like Lee...but I like having Pods more...way more. So to those of you on WhiteSox.com who want to trade Pods back for Lee...I wanna trade you for a Milwaukee fan, because they're probably not as DUMB as you.

McCarthy out of rotation; to bullpen as swingman
Bubba Philips replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can see McCarthy fluorishing in our pen.. If you notice his concentrations is good for a few inning.. He can handle it he needs to apprentice a little longer in the pen.. Cotts has apprenticed long enough he should be #5 . I think we would have plenty of room for this experiment if Viscaino could be waived and El Duque sent down to aaa for rehab. -
you think Kenny's getting a little buyer's remorse on ElDUque... He started out great and now the used pitcher is showing some problems that weren't figured into the equation. If El DUque would be so incline could he return to his stellar self?
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) Sox have every right to be pissed. El Duque scares me every time he pitches. I heard he had some great seasons with the Yankees.. I, however didn't see him pitch very often. I did see McCarthy pitch albeit TV but he did look dominating in preseason, great against the cubs but when we played texas he gave upsome gopher balls.. I also am aware that he has given up his share of homeruns at AAA.. Remember Diaz after he pitched that one game after his return he said " I just trusted my catcher and let him call the whole game. " I believe Brandon has the stuff and Pierzinsky can bring the best out him. If El Duque does come back strong we could use a strong long reliever..o my knowledge none of our relievers have went longer than 3 innings at a stretch. I can't remember the last rookie whitesox phenom pitcher aside from Wilson Alvarez.
