QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) We are talking about spiking the ball, not throwing at a guys head.... it isn't the same. One puts a person in danger one doesn't harm anyone.... On top of that, if Grienke did throw at a guys head the first time chances are he wouldn't get kicked out anyways with how the mlb is, hard to prove it was on purpose. It is the same, your whole argument is about WHEN the incident occurs. Look, if you want to argue that Greinke should never get kicked out for spiking a ball, go ahead and try to make that argument. But if you agree that's an ejection-able offense, it does not matter when the action occurs. Never has, never will. And why should it? A singular umpire-player incident has nothing, and should never have anything, to do with teams, game, standings, fans in the park, etc. It's that simple. Greinke ended his own game, go be pissed at him. But I can't wait until you run MLB so you can tell umpires no ejections until after the 3rd inning.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) Right because spiking the ball on the ground is the same as endangering a guy's health/career..... Like I said way to be childish and start acting out just because someone disagrees with you. It is, as long as it's in the early innings. Can't take a starter out like that with some dumb ump's decision, fans want to see him pitch.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) There is a difference between throwing intentional pitches at a guys head or spiking it on the ground... way to be over the top like you always are. I have no idea what you're talking about at this point. But in your world, throwing at a guy's head is OK early, you don't want that starter out to ruin the experience for the fans.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) I disagree when action occurred is relevant, this game is for the FANS and that game was a waste of money for anyone who paid to see it because an ump is a joke. And this has happened before and he wasnt thrown out so stop saying its a no doubt ejection. OK, let's let players and managers do whatever the hell they want the first few innings since fans are at the game. Yeah, great logic. Good luck with that.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 11:23 PM) He spiked a ball last year and didn't get kicked out, you don't screw over the fans that paid tickets to see a competitive game over something so dumb. People don't pay tickets to see the ump throw out the starter before he records an out, you give him a warning let him know s*** wont fly and continue on the game. It would be similar to kicking Lebron/Rose out of a game if they slammed the ball on the ground out of frustration in the first minute... all they would get is a technical not thrown out. Again, you're missing the point. When the action occurred is irrelevant. "You know what, I should throw this guy out, but since it's only the first inning, play on!" You show up an umpire in that ridiculous fashion, you're done. It's not even a question.

Remember when Sharp was the #2 center on a Stanley Cup winning team? Regardless of position, they need to add to the top 6. -
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) I think vast majority think that's an ump over-reacting. He was frustrated spiked the ball it was the first inning... not only did you screw that team into a loss most likely you screwed 30k fans out of a competitive game.... At worse he should of said any more actups even small he'd get thrown out. Then the majority are clueless. It doesn't matter when the act takes place, it's the act that matters. You don't show up an umpire in that fashion and stay in the game. I don't care if you're the #1 starter and it's the first inning, or you are a mop up guy in the ninth in a blowout. Unacceptable regardless of situation. That is an easy ejection, there isn't one umpire from HS on up that wouldn't give him the boot there. I actually laughed when I saw it, knowing it was an instant ejection. Just stupidity on Greinke's part. He could have said something, he could have yelled, all would have likely kept him in the game. Spiking a ball? Your game is over.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Dumb ump alert...Grienke ejected in first before recording an out for spiking the baseball. Umps need common sense. That was an easy ejection. Show up an umpire by SPIKING a baseball? LOL if you think that's on an ump.

QUOTE (That funky motion @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Gov. Pat Quinn is giving motorcyclists the green light to run red lights. The governor signed legislation Friday allowing motorcycles to proceed at a red light if it has been that way for longer than two minutes, the Chicago Tribune reports. The law, which goes into effect immediately, takes into account that some automatic lights don't sense the motorcycle's presence because of a bike's lighter weight, making the light remain red longer than if a four-wheel car was at the intersection. The law also requires that the roadway is clear before a motorcyclist drives through the red light. The legislation was approved by the Illinois House and sent to the governor in May of 2011. The city of Chicago is exempt from the legislation. Source: http://www.nbcchicago.com/traffic/transit/...l#ixzz1ztkpRRoG Ridiculous. All this means is that a motorcycle will get to a red light, stop for a second, and go through. Motorcyclists ride like assholes to begin with, so let's make it easier for them to be reckless. Brilliant.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 05:21 PM) It's awesome. Cool. Definitely worth my $1 at redbox then.

I'd take Luongo if it wasn't for the contract and the current CBA that prevents zero money from being eaten by Vancouver. Because they'd for sure be willing to take on some of it to deal him. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) Ha you only live once. f*** it. You will enjoy this though...so I finally got around to looking at my bank statement last night, 12 atm charges and $380 spent from the 4th alone. Fun times. I'm not sure how that's possible. But I sure hope you win the lottery soon.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) First, you didn't answer the questions. Allowing Oduya to just walk accomplishes nothing. Second, that's absolutely silly. The Hawks might not have made the playoffs without Oduya. He was phenomenal down the stretch. It's amazing how people forget that the Hawks were the best team in the NHL before that nine game losing streak. And if not for some bad luck, would have been in the second round of the playoffs. Sure it accomplishes something, it doesn't give you a f***ing turnstyle on the blue line. He's Campbell defensively with not even close to his skill offensively. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) The amount of money that I've spent on booze and cab rides since moving to the city has to be some sort of record. I didn't see that coming.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 08:40 AM) It was the 4th of July. Lighten up. It's still a work night. It was dark at 9pm. No reason to have them going off 3 hours later.

How many times have we been shutout since 09?

QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) Don't tell me what you hit, but when you hit it. The Sox are good at hitting with runners in scoring position with a big lead. Not so much in come from behind situations. At least, it appears that way to me. It's a lot easier to remember those situations when you need the clutch hit and don't get it. There's no way they lead the league in RISP and are awful in those situations compared to with a big lead. But the whole idea of "clutch" is silly anyway, a guy is going to hit what he hits in that at bat. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Also if you bought the kids hats and/or tshirts like some fans prolly do, that would skyrocket your costs as well. 200 for 3 people; a movie would be 30 bucks plus food/drink and a minor league game would be 24 bucks plus food, drinks. Have fun, though. 200 bucks isn't so bad, but let's say this was 15 years ago. A fan could go to 10 games a year and be able to afford it easily. The parking costs are really outrageous IMO. Baseball should be ashamed of itself. I mean, give me a f***ing break. Candy used to be a nickel! -
I used to live in HE, so did this drive plenty. Take 290, not 90 - but only on the way there. Church parking. Off Wentworth right when you get off at 35th and cross through the intersection. If you hit 37th you missed it. You will be out of the lot and on the highway in about 25 seconds. Same exact price as Sox lots. You could take the blue line, but the drive in all the way to Cumberland sucks unless it's early, and on the back end it takes forever to get home when in the car you'll cruise. On the way home, take 90. Getting onto 290 takes forever as it goes down to a one lane winding ramp.

If there could just be some sort of disaster that takes out the entire PSU campus (yet doesn't harm people, I'll be nice) and eliminates the school forever more, the world would be a better place.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) I just saw a coworker's decked out 2012 Infiniti FX, that is a REALLY nice car, it blew away the Lexus RX. I'm saving up for a new car at the moment, right now I really like the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. I'd love an Audi A3 but it's out of my price range. You sure you don't want a Ford Focus???????

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) So, the Hawks should sign him now for $3.5M+ for October 2012-April 2013 because he was good in May 2012? Well, not sure where I said that. However, that'd be way the hell better than what we have now.
