  1. QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) Do people even remember what happened the night before if they are wasted? That's what the "Nights I'll never remember with the friends I'll never forget" shirt is for. Also, I don't know why Rowand44 is in this thread, he's not even 21, so he obviously has never had a beer in his life.* *And by life I mean in the past 5 hours** **Only like a 50% chance of this being true.
  2. Arkansas Pine-Bluff fans...you win some sort of award. Awesome. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/...egoryId=2459792
  3. The Ozzie commercial where he talks about lima beans is terrible. Heard it for the first time today.
  4. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) The Hawks have made an offer for Brad Richards, which Burnside describes as the "best offer available." I'm not sure what to make of that.... I'm guessing the deal includes Havlat, Lang and/or Khabibulin who might have more value this deadline because he only has 1 year left on that contract. Could you imagine what the Hawks top 6 will look like next season if the Hawks nab Richards and/or Staal? Some combination of Sharp Kane Toews Richards Staal Byfuglien Lang thats how you score consistently, thats how you make the playoffs year-in-year-out. If he's in that next year, we still have some big holes. Also, I don't think it's a coincidence that Nik was having an MRI today with a trade deadline tomorrow.
  5. Beastly, you clearly haven't paid enough attention to sorority shirts or you'd know that "Life is never wasted when you're wasted all the time"
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3264789 This is what I was going off of. Yeah, I saw that. Versus (I don't know where they pulled it from) had it down to only 3 teams. Who knows. More importantly, what is the proposed deal we have out for him? That's the tough one. Who's the centerpiece? Havlat? Lang? And I would say Nik COULD be a part of it, but this injury throws a wrench into it.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) There is so much crap to weed through tonight. -Looks like Lapointe might already be gone. -Ruutu could be on his way to Pitt. -Hawks have made an offer for Richards. -Tampa just resigned Boyle for 6/40, so Richards NEEDS to go now. Last I heard, Richards narrowed 'his teams' down to 3, none of them being the Hawks. Doesn't mean it's entirely true, as I know he had a list of 8 earlier... s***'s either gonna hit the fan tomorrow, or hardly anything is going to happen. It's crazy that almost all of it is going to happen tomorrow. I still see Hossa being dealt.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) 2nd time in a week and a half that we've had an "ice" day and got off school. Good times. Once you get to high school, that s*** doesn't happen anymore.
  9. Hawks want the outdoor game at Wrigley http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=138620
  10. f***ing sweet Habby Also thought I'd throw this in there...really odd ending to the Wolves game tonight and something I've only seen happen one other time (but not to win it). Goes to OT, delayed call on Manitoba, Pavelec (goalie) to the bench. Wolves have the puck in the offensive zone. Martins gets the puck near the goal line, tries to pass it into the high slot, misses everyone and the puck goes all...the...way...into..the...other...net. Game over. To top it off, their goalie got credit for the goal.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) I've always thought he's just about the dumbest person in sports media, but Zach Zaidman is announcing the DePaul/UCONN game on 560 am tonight. He's the worst announcer I've ever heard. He honestly yells about every play as if it was a last second shot. Do yourself a favor and put the game on if you get a chance. Yeah, I heard him a few weeks ago (and then saw him on his way out of the building), he's not exactly a PBP guy.
  12. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) *click* eskimos, canada...... yessir he is, i had him freshmen year and still teaches those classes. The majority of people on this campus had to go through the legend that is gottheil. I had doc's post highlighted and was going to post *click*, then went to page 2. The thing with Gottheil was his test was nothing like what he taught, it was all application and figuring s*** out on the actual test. Didn't like half the class get a C or worse for him usually? Or a very high number fail? I remember hearing something like that.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 04:35 PM) While I agree that is a bad thing, it goes both ways. The team with less talented 1-on-1 player teams would obviously try and win the game in the last few min of regulation, or go balls to the wall in OT. I think that would lead to a lot more excting OT's, along with fewer SO. I am against ties in hockey, but I am also not a huge fan of the SO. However, you really can't have it both ways. It's an interesting deabte. Regardless of if they try to go balls to the wall in OT, you can't penalize a team for not being as talented come shootout time or just flat out losing in a shootout. Can't have a team get 0 for making it to the shootout and then losing. Furthermore, you can't have a shootout win equal to a 3-1 (or whatever) win in regulation. That's completely bogus. If you are going to have a gimmicky shootout, the scoring system must reflect that (with a fixed number of points per game, however...).
  14. I don't care if wins are worth 3, ot losses worth 1.8 and shootout losses worth .6 repeating. I'd probly prefer some systems to others, but the biggest problem is that games are worth a different amount of points. You can't have a game be worth 2 OR 3 points on a given night. It's similar to the college football situation where not every conference has a championship game, only worse. I have to sit here and root for games which involve two western playoff contenders to not go to OT...and that's retarded. Also, teams being at .500 means nothing anymore. If you get to OT, it's either a win or it basically 'doesn't count as a loss,' that's why everyone is around .500 and so many more teams are 'in the race.' Give me the record of games won in regulation vs games lost in regulation, not games won at anytime vs games lost in regulation. The shootout isn't going anywhere, and that's fine, but you can't make it worth the same as a regulation win (or an OT win for that matter). Regulation wins being worth 3 would force teams to play to win at the end, not bank the point and see what happens in ot/shootout if they could only come out with 2 points as a max.
  15. Shake: I need to get my schedule. I need to access my data base to see if I'm on schedule. I don't know.
  16. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) Myself and Krush we're at the game this afternoon. As folks know, the crowd was massive. Barker had a really great game, hell from my vantage point, I don't recall thinking anyone played a real bad game today at all. Hawks we're really hitting today. The salute to the crowd was a real great moment to see once again. Nice to see things starting to come together, hopefully Williams will be back in the next week, and the offense will continue to click. If you didn't come away with this conclusion after sitting next to me all day... The guy made good decisions. He's playing the body, but instead of hopping up to chase a hit, he's hitting when necessary. Another thing with his game today was the patience he had during the neutral zone regroups. Good composure. To top it off, he's making passes in the offensive zone he never had the vision for previously. Lalime didn't have to play great, which is the mark of a good game in front of him. Made the saves he had to, a few of them were good. Carried the play in all three periods. The thing I was impressed by the most today was the cycling down low. Our guys were horses on the puck and almost always created a decent to good chance off of possessions down low. Very solid cycles. Havlat played well today, he had somewhat of a burst, good puck control, and didn't shy away along the boards for the most part. Kane-Toews-Kane was lights out in the offensive zone. If you don't love Toews by now, check your pulse. ******************************************** Seabrook...Sweetness http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=229924&hubname=
  17. http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/245944.html I'm against this, though if his ankles were somehow near 100%, it could be the signing of a legit top line guy. That being said, this isn't the answer I want, especially the 3 years part...
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) Corey gives up 4 as the Wolves win in Rockford 4-1. I didn't think he played bad...Pavelec at the other end was phenomenal (he's been hot lately) and the Wolves carried the play a bit.
  19. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) If Dick Vitale spouts off about Bobby Knight tonight I may just puke. If? LOL
  20. Great OT ending to the USF/UConn game, USF hits a put back with 6 seconds left to take the lead, UConn runs the floor and hits a tough shot in the lane with .2 seconds left to win
  21. What, no Aboz showing? Oh wait, this has nothing to do with Illinois, so he's not around. At least the majority of IU fans are incredibly pissed and want him gone. I won't jump all over IU fans...but the school got what was coming to them. And you'd rather have your own school do as much damage as possible and then hope the NCAA doesn't drop a hammer or two. So firing him immediately would be a good start.
