  1. Youngblood...if anyone knows what that is
  2. So it's a 7 game series here, Savvy? Well, you're down 3-0, good luck with that one. He's lost this team completely (may have lost his job too?). They put up with his bulls*** throughout the year and played hard despite him not doing them any favors...but calling them out was clearly a mistake without doing it in the locker room first (at least that's what's been reported). That ass-ripping has resulted in nothing. Havlat is a joke now, he's completely mailed it in. He is far from an impact player. Lazy sack of s*** pisses me off right now. Sure he might be a little banged up, but there's zero desire out there, as we've all noticed the past few weeks. It's hard to get rid of a guy with so much talent, and he could be a huge piece of a good team next year. Just pisses me off to see him be so invisible from night to night right now. Toews must be breaking things nightly watching this team play. Terrible D zone coverage tonight. Keith late on one goal, Barker being soft on another. Pathetic. Power play is still bad, though improved (if that makes sense). They are more talented than that Edmonton team and they sure didn't play like it outside of some stretches. Ruutu's still the only guy that consistently hits, forechecks, and hustles. It's really a shame. BTW, Buff has been brutal in all areas lately. He needs to be up front, but stop putting him on the top two lines. Good grief. Lalime didn't play well tonight but again, it doesn't f***ing matter. 1 goal. End of story. Didn't matter who was in net, just like it doesn't matter every game. Toews should be back next week at some point, and while he's this team's heart, everything isn't going back to happy go lucky with him in the lineup. I just hope he's 100%, because the games he plays right now don't mean anything. He better not be rushed back, I don't care if he doesn't play for another month. However, it wouldn't surprise me to see him back a game or two or three earlier than he should be in an attempt to stop the slide...which is a terrible. mistake. The arrow is pointing up on this franchise, but it doesn't mean s*** if you've got the wrong guy behind the bench and not enough talent to do something with. Tallon needs to start the offseason now, whatever that means for him. Whether it's acquiring picks, moving a big name, acquiring a big name, firing a coach, whatever. Whatever his plan is, let's go. Changes need to be made. Next year is huge, and with this season over, the focus has to be on opening night 2008. Hawks have to have more good press besides the fact that home games are on tv, mcdonough's in, etc. The ice aspect has to catch up to the off-ice aspect, or all the packed houses and press and tv games are irrelevant.
  3. /calls on his inner steve0978345798345 Hawks lost 4-1, Lalime sucks. Can't believe he couldn't keep them in the game. Those 3 goals in the 2nd took all the life out of them, especially those 2 within 40 seconds to make it 3-1! Totally different game if he tosses up a shutout, or just one goal. We might be in OT right now! Goaltending let us down yet again tonight, it's as simple as that. /no other comments about the rest of the team's play or coaching /end post

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) for all you former illini, I'm about to hit up murphy's for one of their amazing burgers and a logo glass. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) That place is currently Legend's, a sports bar, also my personal favorite bar on campus. Apparently they got the recipe from Deluxe and is still packed every friday for those sandwiches. I'm not a big fish guy, but every once and awhile, they're pretty glorious. Good to see the student following the teacher's lessons
  5. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) Hawk makes the games less exciting. Zzzzz...As far as tone, personality, and commentary DJ and Hawk have to be one of the most boring duos in baseball. I pity those fans who has worse. Hawk might be Sox baseball, but he also detracts people from watching or listening. I mean, look how many die hard Sox fans here dislike him. I can't imagine common viewers would like him. At least Hughes keeps Santo in check. DJ is not capable of this, and at times the broadcast is just unbearable. Hawk is fine in small bits, but listening to him for 3 hours is painful at times. Why Stone is not in the Sox booth is beyond me. He is far more interesting and far more objective. At least to me... Totally agreed. He should add to my enjoyment of the broadcast, not take away from it. He's gone way downhill over the past 2 seasons.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) HAHA, even if you want to argue the '72 Dolphins are the best team in NFL History (which the aren't, but I'll let you have that for the sake of this debate), there is no way in hell they are better than the 1996 Bulls or 1986 Celtics, or the 1927 or 1998 Yankees. None. Hell, the 80's Oilers had a couple teams better than the Dolphins, but I'd need Tony or one of the hockey experts to back me up on the specifics there. Yeah, but none of them went undefeated

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) geovanti's -best chicken fingers you'll ever have -awesome, huge calzones and location of the drunkest Snb ever got, with the night concluding with Snb and Krush stealing their sox promo signs and running to our dorm/apartment. I think people here will be proud of the fact that the reason this happened was that the more we drank that night, the better our odds were of winning 2006 opening day tickets. Once I found that out, I made SnB drink until near death. And somehow some stupid broad still won. And I'd bet my life she either didn't go or didn't stay the whole game. Stupid b****.
  8. 5'9", 130 +/- 5 since high school...certain times during the summer I've actually got down to between 120 and 125 due to sweat loss while umping baseball. On a more serious note, good luck to all in here, I think helping each other out is a good way to stay motivated.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) If this was the original "burritos as big as your head" La Bamba on Green St., then it must have gone and got classy long after my departure. I ate there at least 2x a week for 2 years. Best chorizo burrito I ever had, especially after a night of knocking back a few pints of the blonde in the black skirt (that would be Guinness) at Murphy's. I greatly miss all the great the neighborhood burrito joints in Chicago. Some of them were excellent. A very good taqueria finally opened up down here last year near my work, and I ate there at least weekly until I started this $%@*%! New Year's diet. I guess I'm in the minority when I hear La Bamba and think "meh" Now Geovantis, that's some ace level food for ya. Calzone or chicken fingers, can't go wrong either way. SnB, mail me some of that s*** post haste
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) Texas scored on a 4th down play with 20 seconds left, if they had to have gone an extra 25 yards (a quarter of the field!), it makes a big difference. And the equally big problem was Carroll's arrogance to just run it up the middle with LenDale White and not even have the threat of Reggie Bush on the field. It was debateable if going for it was right or wrong, it was not debateable that running it up the middle with Bush not even on the field with the season on the line was idiotic. And, on a lighter note, what does Kirk Herbstreit matter? If his opinion were gospel, Les Miles would be the Michigan coach and Ohio State would have beaten Illinois by 2 touchdowns last season. Haha, spoken like a true angry/bitter/sarcastic Ohio State fan. I'll still say VY would have taken them down and scored, regardless of yardage needed. I agree with you that not having Bush on the field was stupid. I was basically only talking about the decision to go. And you are wrong, Herbstreit is gospel, that guy is the f'in man! But he said it right after that game was over and I remember him saying it, that's the only reason I threw it in there. In other words, not my original thought, twas his.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) It reminded me of what happened to USC in the Rose Bowl. Pete Carroll goes for it on 4th and 2, risking giving Vince Young a short field, and keeps Reggie Bush out. Belichick and Carroll are great coaches, but you could argue they'd both have one more ring if not for their own arrogance. No way. 4th and 2 to end the damn game, you go for it right there, period. And like Herbstreit once said, VY was going to score whether he got that ball around the 40 or around the 20, it didn't much matter. He was unstoppable in that 4th quarter/the entire game. No f'in way I want to give him the ball back if I don't have to, even if I give it to him at the 1 yard line.
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) How does Khabibulin being awful make me feel good about myself, yeah, the team played like crap... the moment I posted that he had let in one of the weakest goals I've seen. Khabibulin let in two incredibly weak goals in the first period. Sure, the team was playing poorly, but midway through the 2nd it easily could have been 2-1, not 4-1. Trust me, it's a lot less demoralizing to a team when you're down 1 goal, not 3... that had a HUGE effect on the rest of the game. I don't get why nothing bad can be said about Khabibulin without bring up the rest of the roster. If he plays poorly, he plays poorly, and if I want to bring it up, I will, because it was blatantly obvious to anyone watching. He let in two softies that shouldn't even be going in during rat hockey. He was brutal. That is all. As for Savvy, time will tell. It seems like with Havlat's back-talk to Savvy as well as the poor performance last night (there wasn't much effort all-around) that the team might be quitting on him soon. Or, it just might be high-time to get Lalime back in net so we can win some games! I still think we need to sell some of these vets who actually have some value, especially Lang whom any contender would be happy to have. 1 of the 6 goals were weak as the team was completely dominated in every period, but hey, like I said, whatever helps you sleep at night as the resident hockey expert. If you think goaltending is the only issue (which is all you ever post about), good luck.
  13. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) Illinois plays well again for 35 minutes, and then plays like s*** for 5 minutes to lose the game at MSU. This team can play such great defense, but they are god awful when they need a basket. I can't wait for Legion and Smith to return. It takes more than 5 minutes of s*** basketball to score 41 points.
  14. Perrault making this game look closer than it was. He'll probly be the 1st line center saturday.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) I know this is just an awful game, but this is the 1st game I have seen where no one looks interested at all. Savvy needs to go, and DT needs to start taking offers on Havlat-Nik-Lang. And considering the timing of it with Savvy's last postgame presser...I think it says a lot. Perrault scores. Yeehaw.
  16. 14 minutes in, no shots on goal this period. Burish has been terrible tonight, btw. Yikes.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) You really think his job is in danger this year? Realistically probably not, but he really should be. Even through the injuries, he's been pretty bad this year. And he may have just lost his team.
  18. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) f***ing Khabibulin is worthless. Hey, whatever makes you feel good about yourself. No other observations about the entire team's s*** play, I'll assume. Savvy might not survive this road trip.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Versus has double header of HD Hockey today with Buffalo/Tampa and San Jose/Edmonton and another one tomorrow that includes the Hawks/Avs game at 8:30. Love the DH nights
  20. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 06:29 PM) I hope that Hawks/Avs game isn't blacked out on VS for a CSN broadcast. I'd love to watch it in HD! Comcast doesn't have it tomorrow, it's exclusively versus.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) Oh come on, give me a break -- it was closer to 14. Also, another example for Kid Gleason (goin' real 'hood' with this one): "It finna be cold up in here." Find the closest person to you, and tell them to punch you in the face.
  22. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) I just pray someone like Florida or the Islanders take him so he doesn't go down to Rockford and somehow get called back up. Already cleared em
