QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) I just saw the clips from the Canes game and DAMN I wished I could have seen that game. I got chills just watching the clips, I can only imagine how much screaming, yelling and jumping up and down I would have done. I was doing that, and i'm not even a Canes fan -
I had 8am finals the past 2 days, slept from 3-6 each night, glorious. And i agree with LosMedias, sleep is overrated, life is sweet.

This sharks/oilers game is just awesome. 2-1 sharks after 2. You can't beat these playoffs, they've been unreal. -

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 8, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Now they are saying the goal is being reviewed.. Krush - did the Canes win or what? There was never a doubt the goal would stand. It went off a skate, but there was no kicking motion whatsoever, it was acutally put off his skate by the defenseman. The review was just precautionary. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 7, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) I felt like an idiot, because im fairly good at reading balls of the bat at the games, and like everyone else, I thought that ball cleared the fence. LOL

So in the Braves game, LoDuca gets kicked out mid-play, and Bobby Cox gets thrown out after the play is over. You guys try to figure out the rest without seeing it.

To Brodeur's defense, he was very unlucky today. He wasn't great, but a lot of those goals were weird as hell. Yes, i expect him to rebound. Game 2 is huge for both teams. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 6, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) We all know your constant harp is the offense. Dye's hurting, so it's a given he wasn't going to play. Uribe and BA aren't exactly the biggest offensive threats right now. So I'm really not seeing how the "3 scrub lineup" comes into play in your argument last night. Anyways, we need to get this win tonight so everyone gets back from the ledges. It is not only the offensive part of it, but the defensive...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 5, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) This right here imo is the most important thing. Establish some roles in the pen. To be honest, I think it should be real easy for the 8th and 9th innings. Go Neal to Bobby, your two best relievers in the last two innings no matter what. From there establish roles for the other relievers. Like Brian said before, there is a human element to this game and I think that when a guy knows his role, he'll be more comfortable and because of that, more successful. Alright let's say that's your plan...where do you go BMac? Not cricizing, just asking. Does he sometimes get the 8th? 7th into 8th? I'm still unsure what the hell to do with Politte....

QUOTE(JimH @ May 5, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) Well I give Elarton a lot of credit, he pitched well. My biggest problem with this game is that pitch to Emil Brown, I was sitting here saying aloud "bust him inside, bust him inside" and Jenks and Pierzynski decide outside corner is the way to pitch him. Jenks throws what, 97, and they are letting Emil Brown swing late and get a hit on an outside pitch. Stupid. Yes, i felt the pitching calls were a bit messed up by AJ/dugout, whoever was doing it at that point. I know AJ usually calls everything, but sometimes in close/late situations the dugout takes over. I wasn't paying attention enough to figure out if AJ was glancing at the dugout there. But all in all, some poor choices were made from a pure baseball standpoint.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 5, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Alright, fair enough. You've all made some fair points. For me, it's unless I have Mariano Rivera trotting out from left-field, it is nowhere near an automatic situation. As trite as Hawk has made it by this point, his point remains: Ozzie coaches from the guy. He lives and dies by the sword and tonight it came back to hurt him. Thornton was throwing smoke in the 8th and with Bobby pitching some hard innings lately, he wanted Thornton to get the left-hander out. It didn't happen and Bobby then allowed the inning to unfold the way it did. That said, point well taken and you've all made some solid points. You've made some fine points yourself - it's been a nice conversation. I think you've used the term "thornton was throwing gas/heat/smoke" about 5 times now I know what you are saying about Rivera, et al...BUT, it's not like we have a ton of other great options in this pen to close out games/take a few outs in the 9th. I think now's the time to make sure/figure out if Bobby can be THE guy the rest of the year...then establish the rest of your roles from there. Right now we've played a month and there are zero roles in this pen besides Man Soo Lee.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 5, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Not sure I follow you here. Yeah he came on with a guy on first. Then the bunt, one out, runner at 2nd. They still had the lead at that point 2-1. He walked Graffanino, and then the bad pitch to Emil Brown, that tied the score. The troublesome part about that was that he got beat with his 2nd pitch to a guy like Emil Brown. I thought there was no way he wouldn't try to smoke him right there, then he let Emil get a part of a breaking ball. Interesting call by AJ, i presume, right there.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 5, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Well that's the thing, like I've said many times already, this loss is not on Ozzie at all. I'm just tired of him f***ing around in the 9th inning, it's frusterating as f***. Yup. This is an issue that you can discuss without just talking about this one game, and that's what some people probably don't get, perhaps. Hell, none of us really know what's going on in Bobby's head when he comes in to start the inning with no one on...compared to the tying run on first. I'm not making excuses, but there's a human element here that could/could not come into play on a particular night.
