This is a sad day for Illinois basketball. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Steve and Keith, do you guys see Ruutu scoring 40, 45 goals when healthy? Im not being a smart ass, just looking for your views. I really dont see it, but maybe its just me... No. He's not going to be a savior, aka be at the level of a crosby/ovechkin/kovalchuk, etc. He could be a really really good 2nd line player. Maybe if healthy he's a first line player, but he's not going to be a superstar. That being said, he's a player that i want on the hawks. Reminds me of Roenick with his physical aspect and love for the game. He's a guy i want wearing the indian head.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 06:37 AM) I hear ya, and I agree to a point. I guess I just remember how the Hawks owned the winter months in Chicago pre-Jordan dynasty, and it makes me sick how Bill Worthless has let the franchise crumble to the point where they're not even an afterthought. They're so sad you can't even laugh at them. I remember standing in a packed-to-the-gills sports bar in Lyons watching home playoff games ( the few I didn't attend ) and when I lived on the North side, going to the old Goalpost Sports Bar on Irving Park to see satellite broadcasts of Hawks home games. You'd have to listen to the other team's broadcast team, but it didn't matter - the Hawks were on. Those were good times. Now I don't really give a s*** that their home games aren't televised, and it bums me out. I remember having 2nd balcony season tickets until they moved into the UC. Getting home at 1030 or later when i was in the first grade, and having my ears ring as i went to bed. Watching the guys bang on the back wall in the 2nd balcony to the rhythm of the drum beat on the organ. I remember it was exactly 6 flights of stairs from the entrance to the 2nd balcony - i'd count them each and every time, running up the last few so i could look at the ice sooner. I remember ordering Hawk Vision with my dad so i could watch the playoff games we weren't at. Or going to Poplar Creek Bowl to watch home playoff games on satellite (and this is where i watched Hatcher tear apart Roenick's knee). I remember being at games 3 and 4 of the stanley cup finals and talking to people outside between periods - giving them score updates, and observing how disappointed they were that they weren't inside. Oh, to have that time back again in this city...

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Yeah, it was. It's funny that we're supposed to accept his point for just what it is. ESPN has a hard-on for Duke, and Bilas is an alumnus of Duke. Hmm.. Yeah, i had to post it...certainly i don't agree with it. Usually Bilas isn't a blatant homer, but his opinion there is quite ridiculous. -

Jay Bilas on the thought that Duke gets the majority of the calls: -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) Sorry, but IMO, after really watching Ruutu, I really dont see him being better than a 2nd line center. If he can score 30 goals a year, great, good for the Hawks, really. However, he was hyped up to be the savior of Chicago. The entire franchise, starting from the top, all the way down needs to be blown up. If this includes TommyHawk and the Ice Crew, i'm game.

You couldn't score a run in 13 innings?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Once again I understand what you're saying but the shocker sign is becoming more common around colleges and high schools, you'll see it everywhere. To be honest, I don't even remember the Rashad episode so I don't think it was to big of a deal. I definitely do -

Hockey might be a joke, but it's more popular than the NBA. -
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) On a lighter not, my boy Andy was phenomenal the past two games and Vrbata is looking good as well. I'm looking at the bright spots, and then hoping we tank some more and draft Kessel. Blues and Pens need to win some damn games, now.

f*** i'll just wait til KU has another Bucknell-esque exit, then have him eat it. He's just enjoying running his mouth while he can. And yes, it's running his mouth, not providing any rational thought or logic. -

And by Saturday i meant Sunday, whoops. Hopefully Augie's healthy - this is from Tupper's blog: James Augustine looked like an 80-year-old man when he started walking toward the podium on Wednesday. And that was after Bruce Weber talked about how he’d injured his hand during Saturday’s game against Penn State. Turns out someone stepped on Augie’s foot at practice on Tuesday, creating a limp that he hopes will be a distant memory come Sunday at Ohio State. He injured his hand about three weeks ago, had it x-rayed, but then banged it during the game Sunday. It’s his right hand, which is the better of the two for an injury considering that he’s a left-handed shooter. But he said he can’t bend it. -

Sox sign 10-year sponsorship deal with Miller Beer
IlliniKrush replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So i don't consider myself one to be affected by advertising very much...but the one thing that has had an affect on me is Miller sponsoring the Sox and Hawks. I used to be a Coors Light drinker, but i decided to give Miller a try, because i felt it was only fair since they were a huge sponsor of the Sox and Hawks...maybe i should support them. Now i only drink Miller as my "cheap" beer as opposed to Coors or Bud, etc. Plus, i actually think it tastes better than Coors Light, which i used to think was delicious. -

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Probably my biggest complaint with the White Sox organization is that they serve Pepsi products at the stadium. Miller is better than Budweiser... but I don't always booze it up at the games. They switch to Coca-cola also, I'll be a happy man Also, gimme three more cashews in those cashew raisins... Well played curb your enthusiasm reference -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) Sounds like its getting worse. I vaguely heard something on the radio today and it mentioned Roenick being one of the players that was a part of it. That makes so much sense actually.
