  1. "Speaks often" with RJ? Besides the obvious question of "who the hell is this," why would RJ talk to anyone about this knowing he'd probly go to the media? Does ARZ find this out before this guy does? Of course, this assumes this report is correct, which is a "who knows" at this point. Reports tonight/tomrorow morning should be dramatic
  2. If Uribe, Rowand, and Harris are the core of this team at some point...the Sox have huge problems
  3. Yeah, i know, but that's what this guy said Kenny said, either he heard him say it or he read it somewhere or heard it second hand. That part wasn't clear cuz he only briefly mentioned that as he was summarizing the teams. But i wouldn't count us out until RJ is in a diff uniform.
  4. NY Times writer and baseball insider Jack Curry (sp) Score 670 interview recap: ************************************************* What is real and what is not? - Once RJ told reporters he'd waive his no trade clause, it's clear he wanted out. Named 5 teams we've mentioned, said Angels are probly out. Said KW said that he doesn't think he has enough to acquire him, he gave up guys in the Garcia deal. Boston is smart to try to get Cubs prospects to use in he deal. Yanks don't have the prospects. Should come down to the deadline basically and it's a mucky situation. Teams are worried about acquiring Nomar because it's pretty much a rent a player situation. Thinks Theo is going to remain active in trying to get RJ, but it won't be his decision, it will be a committee decision. Said both Boston and NY farm systems are weak. Questions whether they simply have enough to give. Mets don't want to give up Wright whatsoever. But Arizona needs to rebuild it's infield after giving up half a starting lineup to Milwaukee. Handicap the field: If one Chicago team makes a big move, who do you think it will be? Cubs...Sox have already made their big splash. Is there anyone out there that isn't being talked about that should be acquired by a team? Jose Contreras should be looked into if some of the contract can be eaten up. He would benefit from a change of scenery Most of the good stuff came at the start. He pretty much reinforced stuff we already know, but the most notable thing was when he said that he heard KW say that he doesn't think he has enough to acquire him.
  5. NY Times writer Jack Curry (sp) is going to be on the Score in like 2-3 minutes to talk about Randy Johnson/Nomar stuff
  6. I got home just fine, can't wait to use the rosters.
  7. This is what i'm also trying to get at - families are still in the upper deck, they'll see the fights that go on up there. I know season ticket holders wont' have to put up with it - but you'll know it's there, and i doubt you'll feel fine knowing it exists but isn't right in your vision, ya know? I like the whole family-kid thing that Boyer is trying to do, and getting rid of the trash that comes on half price days (especially when the cubs are on the road) solves a lot of that problem. One thing i have to reiterate from what Boyer said is this: If you have a problem with a fan around you, go to security. He said they have no patience for that stuff. I know most people just want to move, ignore it, whatever, but if it's bad just take a second to point it out to someone i guess. He seemed pretty concerned about everyone having a fun game experience.
  8. Well, off to cwsguy406's abode to pick up the rosters
  9. That's fine. Season ticket holders shouldn't have to put up with that BS. But really, should non season ticket holders have to put up with that crap too, if they are good fans...just not with as much money/availablity as season ticket holders? What i'm getting at is this: Sure, making the seats above the poles half price keeps them out of the lower bowl. But that's just shuffling chairs on the Titanic. If those same people are still in the park, there are still going to be the same fights. I was at one of those KC games last year where i saw 5-6 fights in the upper deck with my own eyes. I think you need to scrap half price night altogether then, not just banish them to the upper deck. It solves part of the problem...but really doesn't get at the root of the problem. I like the idea of promoting more split season ticket packages, etc.
  10. The thing with that is, catering to people that already have tickets doesn't help bring in walkups and increase attendance. That being said, that's fine that one of the half price days will be gone. It's just not worth the problems and b****ing that the media does. I heard the first part of the interview in the car, but i didn't hear the callers segment. Anything else that was good?
  11. Keith i just PM'd you, i want the rosters.
  12. Awesome find, i'll have to take a look at it
  13. Wayne Messmer, All Star game at Chicago Stadium
  14. ss2k4 i know we're BFF!! but what the hell does that mean?
  15. I don't know if this is elsewhere, but i have to mention this since Boers and Bernstein have talked about it for like half the show, and they keep playing her rendition from last night. It was horrid. She said such things as "the lam parts we watch" and "bright stripes and bright stars" among other things. She also sounded like pure crap. The anthem is not supposed to be sung in the fashion she used, and not knowing the words is just flat out inexcusable.
  16. For those of you that are parents...thoughts?
  17. Yeah, i think Gonzalez would be going to Boston as well.
  18. I still watch Saved by the Bell and Full House when i can catch em on
  19. I think by rule, the Yankees have to be rumored to be in the hunt for the top 10 players available at any given time. Regardless, though, him to the Yankees makes sense if somehow they have the prospects, which i hear they don't. The more interesting rumor is the Garciparra to Cubs for prospects...then use those prospects/other players to get RJ. I don't know though. Just because Randy said he'd waive a no trade clause doesn't mean he's getting traded for certain. I don't believe he demanded a trade, did he? Even if he did, still doesn't do a ton. This is all in Arizona's front office, something no one is talking about really. I don't see why the media is just talking about what "rj wants" or "where rj would want to go" Does it make sense for them to move RJ? I don't really know if it does. I'd fleece someone in a trade if i gave up RJ, or i'd keep him
  20. I think with Williams gone the Astros will turn their season around enough and won't ship Beltran before the deadline. It's more of a prediction, but the managerial change could have a big impact. Williams was just terrible with that team. Hopefully Ensberg can start playing every day and not feel the pressure of the Williams/Mike Lamb love fest that's been going on all year. They either turn it around or they are going to look like a completely, completely different team come next year. And it might not be a good one. A healthy, focused, rejuvenated Astros team has plenty of time to come up and grab the wild card. Who knows though, these next two weeks will tell a lot.
