  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Most over looked part of this trade, what's our next closer's entrance music?
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 12:45 PM) Yeah Egwu needs to start playing better offensively. I get that Groce wants these guys to drive and dish, and they're good at doing that, but Egwu needs to at least seem like an offensive threat. And he needs to learn to set legal screens. He got away with a few in the Oregon game and still had 2 offensive fouls on screens. He's never not in foul trouble, and it's really frustrating. In the BT, throwing Morgan and Colbert to the wolves for heavy minutes isn't going to work.

    Alright begin

On to a different topic instead of zombies...starting now.
  4. Agreed, curling is #2 behind hockey. Absolutely love Olympic hockey. #3? Women's figure skating. No, seriously, I watch both the short and long programs. This is what happens when you grow up in a house with a big-time figure skater.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:58 AM) They became the Bulls - everyone stand around and see if Rice can score and if not the possession is over. Which is dumb because Abrams took over the game at multiple points to regain or extend their lead. He disappeared at the end and Oregon was able to close off the paint and that was that. I think they'll continue to get better and be a pretty tough out by the end of the year. Their offensive execution still isn't great. But they are very good at rebounding, especially offensive rebounding, and defense. Beat Mizzou and it's a decent non-conference season with good wins (@UNLV. N-Mizzou), a "good" loss (@ORE) and a "bad" loss (@GT). They'll have plenty of opportunities to finish in the upper half of the big ten and get into the tournament. That game definitely showed some promise, it was just very frustrating to watch nothing happen on offense the last 10 minutes. This team can be scrappy and play tough, and I think Groce had a nice game plan, and usually will. It's just really tough relying on these freshman to pick up slack if you have 1-2 of the upper classmen struggling. Not having any experience at all off the bench is going to be interesting come BT play in a couple weeks. Can I have the Egwu from the Miami game back? Hopefully Abrams can show more consistency, too. Defense should always be able to keep us in the game, sometimes we just won't be able to score enough, or more specifically, make enough jump shots.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) No, see the bolded is where I get that you think losing is acceptable. The dude won one f***ing Big Ten game this year, and even then he had to purposefully take a safety at the end just so they wouldn't have a fluke chance of losing at the end. That's how scarce a win is for this program. How is that an improvement over last year? One win is all you need to bring him back another year? I asked you before what you saw that improved this year. Yes, the offense looked better and by all accounts that was Cubit. Nearly everything else was the same or worse. I'd love it if they were good. But I also fear we're getting back into the Zook scenario WITHOUT the added benefit of creating one of, if not the most talented rosters in the entire conference. He'll just be a lame duck coach year after year because they'll win A game or two, make fans like you happy that they're showing "improvement", but still not recruit well enough to win. I think next year is going to be the exact same as this year - offense will be good enough to win, the defense won't. They'll be at 4-5 wins. Does he get fired? Who knows. If not, the future still doesn't look good because there isn't much talent there. If he does, we wasted a year of rebuilding. Because last year we weren't competitive in almost any of the BT games, this year we were. Yeah, I know there aren't any moral victories, that's now that I'm saying, but they needed to show improvement and be close, and they were. PSU, IU, NW were all within winnable range. PSU was literally a play away from a W. Offense was night and day. Defense wasn't any good, but we knew that going in due to youth and inexperience. Special teams were a lot better. I'll say it again - I don't think Beckman is the answer, I really don't. That being said, I see why logically he got a year 3. And I'll root for next year to be great, because I think the long-term health of the program will be better if next year is productive compared to another dumpster fire that results in Beckman being let go. I think if it's 4-5 wins next year, he's still likely gone. I really believe it's bowl or bust, at least at this point.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) And while the 1st pick was a bad decision, the 2nd pick most likely doesn't happen if he's been playing the last few weeks. After he shook off the rust he was damn awesome the rest of the game. Also, not sure if it has been mentioned yet but Jay leads the league in 4th quarter qbr this season. The first one needed a better throw and it's a td. Decision was fine.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) I'm desperate? A bunch of players start a fight that ends up in three people getting shot? But that's not worse than one player fondling a girl's boob?? Very bizarre standards you have there. She killed herself due to it and the inaction afterwards, so my standards always have death as the worst possible outcome.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:20 AM) http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-11...-carle-hospital Only because the shooter sucked at hitting his targets. Of course, I don't bring this incident up every time somebody mentions Illinois. Only assholes do stuff like that. Hahahaha, now you're desperate. I think the Teo hoax needs more investigation and crying over.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:11 AM) She didn't snap 'randomly' she had a history of depression. There was also no witness and no physical evidence, two things the Winston case has plenty of. You're the one who is blind, but I guess to be an Illini fan that goes without saying. And people really wonder why everyone hates nd and their fans. We may suck at football, but at least my football program hasn't contributed to two student deaths.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 06:33 AM) I know exactly what went on at ND. I've seen the police report. For you to talk about it just makes you look like a hater-asshole. There is nothing similar at all about the two cases. Lol. You think that proves anything? I give a crap you saw it. You already showed your colors when you tried to claim she snapped randomly and killed herself. You're a blind nd fan boy, everyone else is a hater.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 11:57 PM) Thanks Krush.. really screwed me up! I should have just waited on Lacy. Instead Bell goes nuts on my bench. Thank god Bailey decided to be my MVP today. Lacy's clutch TD also helped as well as Brees not sucking after halftime. I'm up by 7.35 and this bastard has Reggie Bush going tomorrow................ yea not looking good. I should be in the championship. Blame the Broncos for sucking! Killed so many people this week. I stick by it. If Lacy doesn't play, you said you had zero other options.
  13. In the past 2 years I have now faced: Doug Martin's game @ Oakland last year Peyton Manning's opener this year Jamaal Charles' game today (twice) Sweet Jesus
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 06:21 PM) Nice passive agressive response there. Go ahead and say it, so you can lose that argument again. Everyone but blind ND fans realize what has gone on at ND. So for you to talk about Winston is absolutely hilarious.
  15. Playing against Charles and Seattle D in both matchups while my teams aren't doing much. See everyone in the 3rd place games.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 08:35 AM) There is a police and medical report. And the fact that she made a ton of phone calls immediately afterwards. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) A police report with all different accounts and a medical report that indicates they had sex and had no indications of rape. It isn't like she came in all beat up with indications of force. I'm not saying he did or didn't do it, but I don't know what info was out there that clearly supported him being charged. I will say, I haven't followed and read a bunch of blogs, I"ve just seen what has been on the tv news but there was nothing I heard that supported rape. And a medical report where they for whatever reason redacted a bunch of things from the original report before presenting it to the media. She did come in bruised, that much was on there.

    Alright begin

During college my roommate and I would buy a pack of toaster strudels every week at the grocery store. They are delicious, but I don't think I've had any since.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) Winston is making me want to root for an SEC team in the championship game, and I didn't think that was possible. So many things that don't even need to be said in response to this statement, smh.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) That being f***ing terrible your first two season is acceptable. I don't find that acceptable when you can see that the future doesn't really look any brighter. And no, people weren't clamoring for Zook to be fired because everyone understand we had a roster full of JV players (MUCH worse than what Beckman inherited) AND he IMMEDIATELY began recruiting not only D1 one players, but FIVE STAR D1 players. No one was ever thrilled with his coaching. EVERYONE was thrilled with his recruiting ability. And most fans expected that if he couldn't turn the coaching around we should fire him while we still had good players to get a coach in who could coach them up. Thank Guenther for f***ing that up. Everyone keeps putting words in my mouth and making s*** up. Tell me where being terrible is acceptable - because I can see the rationale of him getting a 3rd year? Nice leap. We've discussed how as long as he was here for year 2, you're not firing him for year 1. You're judging your post-year 2 decision on year 2. Considering what we saw in year 2, it's really not hard to comprehend why he has year 3. I can certainly see the future being brighter next year. Will it for sure? We'll wait to find out. I'll hope like hell it turns around next year. Not because I give a s*** if Beckman is the coach or not (I've said multiple times I don't think he's the answer), but because it'd be better for the program if I'm wrong and it turns around quicker next year. Most of you won't admit it, but deep down you hope it's a f***ing tire fire next year so you can just jump on here and say haha told you so Beckman sucks you shouldn't have supported him, etc. You wouldn't know what the f*** to do if they actually won 6 games or looked competent.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 03:09 PM) The problem with this is that it's so UNLIKE Jameis Winston. Now, obviously, we don't know the guy personally, but from all accounts (recruiting stories, HS and FSU coaches, teammates, media members) pretty much anyone who has ever come in contact with JW lauds how mature he is, how he's a great guy, a great leader, always laughing and joking, and has great character. That doesn't mean he can't make a stupid mistake, but I have a hard time believing it. Plus, the timing of when this went public is ridiculously suspect, and the attorney of the accuser today just threw out accusation after accusation about things being tampered with, deleted, who was or was not there, etc. It's really hard to say it's UNLIKE any college football player on a big campus and football is king of the town. There could have been drugs or alcohol involved o on his end too, but it's not hard whatsoever to believe he raped her. It's really not. You can be the greatest guy in public and in front of a camera and still rape someone. Regardless, I'm trying to look at what facts or at least information that is out there, and there's way too much smoke here. Rock already covered why it took so long to go public. And what difference does it make that the attorney threw stuff out today, as opposed to some other day? It's not like this is 10 years later.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 09:52 AM) Admittedly I got used to it, but when i first moved to the area it was a little quieter. Just wait till the summer and the motorcycles get going. When Plush was running there was a biker night. I called the cops on that guy yelling a few times, I went out there and gave him money to move down the street and finally after he came back I popped him in the leg with a plastic BB. Never came back after that. You forget I was here in July/August/September, so I went through all that s*** too LOL. Now that it's cold, it's 20x better. Not as many idiots blaring with the windows down. But, I always know when there's a concert because 11pm hits and there's homeless guys yelling everywhere. It makes people feel so uncomfortable, you can see them getting their own cab because, you know, they can raise their own hand. Speaking of Plush, I heard the story about the guy that was stabbed in the neck there and they dragged him out to the street before calling the cops. Sounded like a classy place. Really surprised it got shut down. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Seriously? Look, if this is all they have to make money then that sucks immensely, but too many of them berate customers that don't tip them. That's f***ing s***ty, I don't want to have you looking at me while I'm pissing, hand me a towel from a machine, and expect me to pay you. I've crossed off a lot of bars for having those guys there. Same here. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) I honestly don't think I've ever experienced either one of these things. I knew they existed but I've never run into one. Either I need to get out more or live in a bigger city. West Loop by the UC has a ton of the cab guys. Bathroom attendants are all over Chicago. Not all bars, but a decent amount. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) Ive always assumed that they can all get drugs, I just have a general rule about not buying drugs from someone in a bathroom. Joke's on you, because you get a free bootleg copy of Toy Story 2 with your purchase.

  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) The guy "helping" people with cabs on madison st after hawks games has taken a BB in the leg from me. Um, can I borrow that? And if you have a bazooka that would be great too, cars that blast their music at 2:00am need more than a BB. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) A few of the bars I worked at, guys would come off the street and ask to provide that service. Our dumb GM always thought it "classed" up the place. Bulls***. All it did was crowd the bathroom. Yeah, it's all-around awkward. Here's this bum that insists on turning the water on and handing you a towel, something I'm perfectly capable of. I need to pay to go to the bathroom? What's next, a guy at my table that lifts my beer to my mouth so I can sip it, and I have to pay them too? Brian like you said, I've never tipped one. In fact, I've gone straight from the urinal to the door just to avoid the whole thing. That or I wait for some sort of interference with another guy so I can quickly wash and get out.
