Hopefully BA will improve offensively and centerfield wont be a probelm for us but his numbers first half were dismal. He did show some signs of improvement as of late but I dont want the rest of the lineup to have to pick up his slack offensively down the stretch. We also definately need some kind of bullpen help.

i realize that Hawk and DJ are definately both incredible homers but I think they do actually make the game more interesting to watch. I enjoy their catch phrases as well. There has to be a reason why they are allowed to stay on the air in such a large market, people must enjoy what theyre doing. I would definately rather have people that are fans of the team anouncing then typical ESPN type "alegid" baseball experts. They definmately have chemistry between the two of them or it might not work at all.

Man, I can envision Jenks sitting on the ground playing with mud. He looks like a little kid. Minus his enormous stature of course. I wouldnt mind seeing us deal Vasquez and bringing bmac back into the rotation. Its not a step down by any means. Im also not concerned about getting burned by an injury if that happened because if it was urgebt we could go to a four man rotation down the stretch. We could really use help in the bullpen or in centerfield.

Oops, I did mean Boston...about the Shidtt thing, I said what i said

Im not a big fan of letting Jose throw against New York. They always light him up. Either way I like the way the second half is mapped out. We pretty much control our own destiny. I think when we play the Tigers later in the year all of their younger pitchers are gonna struggle against our line up. Im also not that concerned about the Yankees this year. They are really banged up and wont be offensively what they have been the past few years. I think we can definately out slug them if we have to. Id like to see KW make some kind of move for either a CF, RP or a package deal for an ace like Schmidtt

I dont think the Mets are the type of team we would want to deal with before the break. They are looking to improve immediately and so are we. If we cant get a good centerfielder, strong arm for the pen or package a few guys for an ace then we should be very selective. I wouldnt be happy trading Vas for prospects unless they were some bigtime prospects which we wouldnt be able to get for him anyway.

This is rediculous. Granted the Steelers were a good team, and it was great they did it from the sixth seed...But there is no way this shouldnt of went to the Sox. They lead wire to wire. Every single analyst doubts them all year. They didnt have one 20 game winner or any real superstars. Get chased by the severely overacheiving Indians for the whole second half and manage to hold them off and finish them off themselves by sweeping them to end the season. Theyre picked to lose every series in the post season. Handily sweep the defending world champs.Lose one close game in the ALCS and never look back. 4 complete games, walk off home runs from Podesednik and Gload. Kongs slam. What a ride. ESPN can have that award. There will never be another season or team like last years World Champion White Sox.

Is this the year that the Sox have a 50 homerun hitter?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) I don't know if anyone's forgetting exactly how streaky Thome is in the homer category. He's due for one of those ridiculous streaks any day now. I agree. Im very pleased with his numbers right now. He has always gone through dry spells during the season during his career. Not to mention his age. I think he will still do good and hit in the high 40's and maybe creep in there. This is definately the most protection hes had around him in a lineup in a long time too. -
I believe they filmed the ESPYS last night and they will be shown sometime soon. Does everyone think the Sox should be a shoe in for best team? If not who, the Steelers are the only competition I believe. I read a few reports online that have it going to the Heat but I dont think that could be possible. I know its ESPN and stuff, just curious on everyones thoughts about it. The award seems to be made for our beloved '05 White Sox. That was the epitomy of team.

I defintaly think this year can be one where this will happen. The question is who will it be. Obviously Thome seems to be the favorite but his age is ny only issue. I definately dont think Thome will be able to be pitched around because of his protection in the lineup. Konerko doesnt seem to be the one this year to go for 50 but he certainly has the power. The wild card on this one is Jermain Dye. This guys is murdering the ball and could make a late season run at it. -
The thing about this was that the facts were mixed up. I dont care that they wrote a story about AJs controversies at all. I found it interesting. It just bothers me that no one at the sun times caught the fact that the dates in the timeline were mixed up...actually, they werent even mixed up, they were completely made up. They said something happened way after it really did.

I have no idea what that said either, but it looked funny

I hate the Sun Times.

i went with Dye but it was a really hard choice. He definately is seeing pitches to hit because of the lineup and the addition of Thome. Dye is hitting for average and has the hr's and rbis. He also has made some good plays in the field. If Thomes average was up a little that would be enough to counter that hes a dh but all of them were big parts of the Sox success.

Can the Sox benefit from the AL win?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) And yet, all 3 of you are wrong, as both California and Maryland have higher upper class tax rates than Illinois, to the point that Paulie's take home pay after Taxes will wind up being higher from him having taken the $60 million from the Sox than it would have been had he taken either the $65 from the O's or the $60 from the Halos. well then wouldnt that matter where he resides then? If he kept his residence in Chicago would he have to pay out of state taxes -
Check out this headline from the Detroit Free Press

Do you know if it was true if new season ticket holders as of this year didnt have a world series option. My boss was gonna buy 4 seats and didnt because they said he might not have an option because of the high volume of sales -

Well even they expect to make the post season that doesnt mean World Series tickets go on sale right away. They sell the ALDS first and then so on. It is a little cocky but I do think it will work for some bulletin board material. Maybe it will get our starting pitching a little riled up. -
I emailed the writer of the story yesterday and actualy got a response back: That was a graphic put together by the graphics department. It was not in my story. Thanks, JC This is a lillte rediculous, maybe I should write the graphics department. I mean, dont they have editors there. I know its not that big of a deal, but Im pretty sure they knew what they were doing.

The hate that people have for AJ seems to be so much different then hate for someone like bonds. He is a genious at getting underneath peoples skin. He can get opponents off their game. He isnt cheating or bashing people in the media. Im glad hes on our side.

Yeah, I was a little confused by this, especially because it wasnt written by Marriotti

There is a chronological timeline of AJs controversies through out his career. I may be wrong but I could swear when he pointed up in the sky after hitting a home run off Zambrano that it was after the whole fight with Barrett. It says it was before though, it almostt seems like they were trying to justify it. May 21: Pierzynski homers and points to the sky in a gesture many viewed as mocking Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano, who has to be calmed down. July 1: Pierzynski barrels into Cubs catcher Michael Barrett, who punches him in the jaw after the play. Major League Baseball fines Pierzynski for inciting the crowd after the play. am I wrong about this or wasnt the fight before the Zambrano thing? Can anyone help me out here, thanks. http://www.chicagosuntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-aj11.html
