7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles
DrunkBomber replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Big out here -
If we are talking about upgrading at certain positions and possible trades 1st base and right field are near the bottem of my list with 3rd and catcher. I would like to see the other outfield positions or ss improved first, not to mention pitching.
-
Maybe just let them pitch as a team, Vasquez 1 through 5 then BMac till the 8th then the Jenksy cat comes in.

Superstitions. Which one will you employ to stop the losing?

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) my black Sox Pride wristband broke right after the all-star game. Put on a substitute. Obviously it ain't working. I take the blame. Wore that thing ALL of last season and for the first half of this season. I have figured out our problem. I'm tying the old one back together on my wrist tonight. I bought one of those at the home opener last year and havent taken it off since, Im not taking it off yet though. -
In a related story Ross Gload and Kenny Williams have discussed it and decided to sign Don Mattingly if he shaves his side burns.
-
I wouldnt be that comfortable even with BMac going in with inherited runners. The first sign of trouble or him hanging bals up in the strike zone pull him.
-
I wasnt even basing it on stats when I started the thread. Im just going by what Ive seen. Hes blown the lead in the 6th inning the last two starts I watched. Whats worse is even Hawk and DJ both times made reference to the fact that they needed to watch out if runners got on base in the sixth because Javier self distructs. If it is that obvious something needs to be done. Switch him and BMac and let him do extended relief.
-
Even if they were winning I wouldnt like the idea of risking our most productive pitcher as of late by telling the media we are planning to bean people. The only thing making it seem worse is the poor performance. I never said it was the cause, I said it wasnt helping, and its not.

Maybe bring up some fireballers from the minors and let them throw at opponents to their hearts content until they are ejected, just to relieve some stress. Then whenever we want to intimidate other teams bring them up again and have them stare from the pen. -
I think moving Crede ahead of AJ is a bad idea. AJ is hitting well for average and is getting on base a lot and creates good rbi opportunity for Crede instead of having to rely on Uribe to let him in. As far as the Mac and Pods switch I think it should be changeable based on recent performance and maybe use Pods as a pinch rinner late in games when he doesnt start.

We simply need two pitchers to be able to play well down the stretch. Im not saying the others can all suck but having two guys winning the majority of their games down the stretch will be a huge boost. Weve only been able to have one pitcher play well at a time, it seems to be Garland now, if Mark or Freddy can regain form and Jon produces well it might all come together.
-
Dont get me wrong, I completely agree, I think a few players on Texas should be drilled, let Thornton do it, he has a cannon. I just dont agree with the cleaning of team laundry in the public eye. Its debatable whether Jon was trying to hit him or not but it went behind him twice. This should have been discussed behind closed doors. I completely agree with Ozzies point and the reasoning behind it but I hate the way he goes about it. It isnt working. If were gonna bean players, great, lets stand up for the team, dont make it public and risk getting Garland suspended by telling the media our plans. Or just have someone charge the mound if it happens again. We still havent effectively retaliated, Brian Andersons punch was the most effective show of team unity this year.

There is a big difference between being able to yell at your players and expect things from them and belittling them in front of a tv crew. that should be handled in the clubhouse. Now if any of our pitchers ever do retaliate on anyone theyre gonna be suspended quickly. It also shows lack of respect for the players. Ozzie is the manager and should be allowed to protect his players but Im sick of seeing him yell at them on the dug out steps. It makes the Sox look classless and gives us terrible media. Players arent gonna like playing for him anymore and arent gonna perform as well when they feel disrespected, the whole world knows what ozzie wants done if one of our guys gets hit and when the retaliation comes suspensions are gonna be all over. If Ozzie wants to act like a lunatic he at least needs the support of his team so theyll produce and its justified. It isnt about being a baby or the players being too sensitive, its supposed to be a team and Ozzie is disrespecting a guy that has been in our rotation since before he even got here. I dont know for sure if its the cause for the recent poor play but it definately isnt helping.

Im sure there have been discussions about this a few times but is it too insane to pull Javier out after the fifth inning no matter what and maybe handing it over to BMac whenever he starts. His past few starts you can set your watch to his 6th inning melt down. We normally have 1-0 or 2-0 leads and then are down three runs. Do something to mix it up at least.

I have a South Side Hitmen tshirt that I wore to game one of the ALCS that has been banished to a box. Im debating whether I should try giving it another shot or destroying it completely. It was 3-0 before that game and has had its fair share of good times at the south side Irish parade. I also might take my Joe Crede dog tags out of my car on game days and wear it under my shirt. Twice when I had it and was watching a game rally Crede had a decisive play. -
I dont know if hes losing his team but there is a much greater significance between the stuff with Marriotti and the rookie pitcher and berating Garland who has pitched great lately. I dont even disagree with the reason, its just something that should be discussed amongst the team behind closed doors and not on Baseball tonite. Its not even like these guys arent trying to do what Ozzies asking, theres morality issues here as well. The temas performance has hindered as of late and its not too far fetched to think its because they are losing respect for Ozzie.

Soriano is exactly what we dont need right now. Sure its fun to have the power in the middle of the line up, but we need bullpen help bad more then anything. If Vas can only go 5 innings, let him and bring in someone else. Soriano wouldnt be an upgrade on defense either.
-
There is no such thing as global warming. Joe Crede decided he was cold and turned the sun up. He just struck out though and it was very un rally-esque of him.
-
Wow, who are they gonna throw in the pen to replace him
-
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of animals Joe Crede allows to live. Joe Crede is also the reason that Waldo is hiding.
-
If you have a $15, 000 limit I would reccomend getting a new car. I would maybe look at a used passat or accord. They are both four doors and get great gas mileage. They are also both very safe cars.
-
I think AJ and Crede have the best chances. They seem to be getting better wood on the ball without relying on homers.
-
Hawk-Does he actually listen to what spews out of his mouth???
DrunkBomber replied to gosox41's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hawk is an acquired taste. He is definately a huge homer but he does know his baseball. I dont know about all the pressure being on the Tigers though. -
Keepin' that Motown Mojo = Sox @ Tigers
