  1. While I am dissappointed I still think they will have an active offseason and will be back competing next year.they have a core and trade bait with some guys ready to come up. They were in a tough division. They had the pieces to win though. Its a hard sport to repeat in.
  2. Any football forum that is at an advantage of having less Cubs fans already guarentees better conversation
  3. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Yikes, Ben Roethlisberger has been the worst QB in the league thus far. More bad effects from a stupid offseason decision compiled with his appendectomy. Steelers gave the game to the Bengals with 5 turnovers, while Carson Palmer tried to give it back with 2 INT's and 4 fumbles of his own. Believe it or not, but most Steelers fans are ready for Cowher to go. His favorites on the team that he keeps throwing on the field hurt the team time after time. Insert Aaron Brooks here
  4. i think Id rather have the Twins win then the Yankees
  5. I couldnt imagine the Marlins would want any part of that. Willis will also probably stay in the national league if he does move to utilize his bat in the lineup. Willis is the only selling any tickets to Marlins games. i wouldnt think they would trade him easily but who knows with those guys.
  6. I was at the July 4th game where they won 13-0 so that was good to see them win big. I also liked that we won both series against the Cubs to keep thoso yahoos quiet.
  7. There were lots of variable to the demise of the 06 Sox but at this point Im not writing off anyone. Ozzies world series win should buy him another year. I dont really know what KW will do with the roster but I think some tinkering needs to be done starting with a better average lead off man.
  8. I got mine today, it took about 2 days but it was free so I dont care. They make their money on the rake so they have nothing to lose. Any skeptics, it works...but if youre no good, you wont win anything
  9. I think a lot of people were expecting way too much from the Sox. They definately had a team capable of winning again and absolutely should of madfe the playoffs, but its very reasonable to see how hard it is to win consecutively, especially in the best division in baseball. Im very disapointed in the outcome this year but I am nowhere close to writing off this club or calling for anyones head on a stick. This team still has a good core and still would make the playoffs most years. Things didnt go their way this year, but you know what, they still have a chance of winning the series for a few more years with this team and you know Kenny will be actively trying to improve. The happiness I got from the club last year overshadows any bitterness I got from them this year. Im confident they will try to field another contender next season and everyone bashing them now will be back on board.
  10. If the Bears and Bulls didnt have such potential for success this year it would be a lot more difficult
  11. This team is too similair to the '03 and '04 squads. Minus trading the farm sytem for jurrasic Carl and Robbie Alomar a few times
  12. Everytime i see him BA reminds more and more of Chad Hutchinson
  13. I just tuned in, it does appear Freddys doing good, bolstering trade value
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) Right on! I only quit baseball because I couldn't deal with my schools management, but since I play it all the time in my free time now, I never really quit it. I'm glad you two settled your spat. I feel your grumpiness, DB. I'm touchy about somethings, too. Glad we're all on the same page. I wish you guys could of seen my catch with a club on my hand for a 30 yard gain though. Our running game was so good they didnt cover me, our qb didnt want to throw it to me for obvious reasons. Talk about the croud findind something entertaining
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Slow down there. I never questioned your passion for the game. I didn't think you meant the physical aspect, I interpreted it as if you were commenting on the mental side. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Sheesh. Ok, sorry for the overanalyzing then, just a touchy subject with me because of how much I loved playing sports.
  16. I was one of the people that didnt know we needed 20 posts for the second vote ands till voted. That site is weak in terms of convo so I didnt even try to post there.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Simple: passion. I could have easily quit basketball, soccer, and baseball because of injury, but there is no chance in hell that I would ever quit. And knowing Greg, he wouldn't quit soccer either. Wow, I can still pay basketball and baseball. I noticed you didnt say football and I dont know if you have had an inury like the one I had but it isnt quite that simple. The positions I played were contingent on acceleration and cutting. My ankle has been reconstructed with plates and screws and my tendon was repaired to tightly considering it was completely severed. Thats insulting to question my passion for sports I played and nobody i ever played with ever would, My ankle simply cant support it and Ill have problems walking for the rest of my life do to a drunk driver. Lots of athletes have had career ending inuries. Not everything is healable in the sports world. Tell guys like Terrell Davis, Michael Irvin, Joe Theisman they have lack of passion.
  18. Loopholes aside there was reasonable doubt to at least suspect him of drug trafficing based on that article. If the law says they can seize it I doubt theyll pass on an opportunity to do so. I didnt see any part that said what type of neighborhood he was in. I think that might make things a little more clear. In regards to him not knowing a DUI was a crime, its in his miranda rights that he was being arrested and Im sure they were read to him when he got arrested for it so that is a lie and a reason for suspision. Id also like to know the incriments of the bills but I doubt anyway it was nickle and diming based on the amount.
  19. When I was in high school I played tight end and outside linebacker and I broke my hand during practice. They actually had me get a cast and clubbed it and still let me play. I actually had a catch with my hand completely taped up. A little over a year ago I was in a car accident and completely tore my achilles and shattered my ankle. I had been playing some organized sports for fun prior but cant anymore. I can completely sympathize with this kind of stuff. My friend who was our middle linebacker tore his acl and made a full recovery and played in college so hopefully with time youll be back to 100%. Im still dumbfounded how athletes can tear their achilles and play sports like football anymore. There is no way I would be able to.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) I find it hard to believe the Sox have been so patient with Crede only to trade him away when all their patience pays off. I'd would be absolutely stunned if he is traded unless the concern about his back is what fuels it. They still have time to deal with Boras, or maybe Crede dumps him to try to get a deal done. I think its a better bet you'll be able to tour a peaceful Middle East, than see Boras hammering out a long-term contract for a major player with JR. Tis is what I was thinking, he has been a project for a few years now and has only been a top tier player for a year and a half roughly. He can be a cornerstone for this team for a while, if they can resign him of course. It would be like getting rid of Garland after all those bad outings a few years ago waiting for him to develop.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Let's say Freddy pitches a perfect game/no hitter today and goes on to end the season strong though the Sox still do not make the playoffs. Do you suppose KW would retain him for next year? shhhh, youre gonna jinx him
  22. Garcia has Cy Young written all over him after this performance.
