  1. John Clayton is on ESPN saying the Colts plan on drafting Andrew Luck and also want to keep Peyton Manning if he is healthy enough to play when his roster bonus is due.
  2. Besides Cam the only one I really saw was Moss and that was pretty epic. 15-1 and I think they broke the record for points scored in a season.
  3. Lions have let the Saints off the hook for two turnovers.
  4. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) I've been wondering for a while now why everyone hates Martz so much. Until Cutler went down this was the best Bears offense of my lifetime. He wasnt as bad as I expected but he just isnt a fit. Hes lucky Cutler didnt get hurt sooner with all the 5-7 foot drops he was calling with an awful offensive line. His situational play calling was suspect (see double screen vs Raiders with Hanie) and he had the Bears trade our athletic receiving TE because he doesnt like to pass to the tight end. Martz was trying to run an offense built for a team with personnel we dont have. As far as Lovie goes, I think he has shown he can be a good coach at times and he certainly has his flaws. Im ok with keeping him for now but I never want to see anything like what the Bears did defensively at the end of the Broncos game ever again. They had Denvers offense sputtering for 3 and a half quarters and then go into that soft defense and gave them every chance to come back and beat us.
  5. I would be shocked if Vjax resigned in San Diego. I remember seeing a quote from him talking about how he plans on structuring his contract with a new team so it gets San Diego the lowest compensatory pick possible. If AJ Smith was gone then maybe, but still doubtful, but since hes still there I say no way.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) A 3/4 that just sprints full speed down field every couple plays and returns kicks is fine with me. No routes, nothing over the middle, 1 move or less, only thrown to in single coverage. Thats what Hester is to me. You dont need 2 guys like that imo and clearly Hester is more valuable then Knox.
  7. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) I dunno about you but I'd be perfectly happy with Johnny Knox as a part of the WR corps so long as it's down a few rungs. Certainly we all hate having him in the role the Bears have had him, trying to pass him off as a 1/2 guy, but as a 3/4 sign me up It might just be me personally hating him but I wouldnt want him on the team at all. I know hes probably a capable 4th/5th WR and has good speed and contributes in the return game but Im just so sick of watching him give up on routes, not fight for balls in the air etc. To me him and Hester are basically the same WR with Hester having a leg up in the return game, and you dont need two guys like that. Im sure a good amount of you guys watched the Giants/Cowboys game, there was a play in that game that just made me even more angry about the WR dilemma the Bears have had over the past decade. The play where Eli was being chased around the pocket and literally just launched the ball in the area where Victor Cruz was and he jumped in front of the corner and grabbed it. Even if he couldnt have made the catch he wasnt going to let the defense intercept it. That has to be a pretty nice luxury for a QB to be able to trust his wr's enough to do that.
  8. Actually looking at the rest of that list there are a few other guys who you could gamble on if you sign on one of the other guys first. Guys like Plax, Garcon, Steve Smith (Phi). I know Royal has been irrelevant for a few years also but I believe Cutler was the Qb his rookie year where he had a great season, I think over 1000 yards, and he could replace Knox in the return game.
  9. I think Vjax is done in San Diego. I cant see them franchising him again and there is no way he will resign there. Welker clearly isnt going anywhere. I dont think Philly is gonna franchise Djax but I think they have a shot to resign him, but either way he isnt what the Bears need. Bowe would be the guy I really want but I think hes gonna be the hardest to get. If not Bowe then I think you have to go after Vjax and then Stevie, in that order. I wouldnt mind Colston but I dont think hes going anywhere either and then the last guy I think you could settle on would be Wayne if you strike out everywhere else. I think I have a mental block on Lloyd because of his last stint here but he has been really good the past few years, but hes also very injury prone. If they were to get someone like him or maybe Manningham Id want it to be in conjunction with one of the other guys I already listed. Imo the Bears current roster only has 2 usable wr's. Bennett as the 2 or 3 and Hester as the 4 (I normally wouldnt even count him but his retrun game, when he is healthy, and his speed make him worth keeping) The other option I wouldnt mind would be signing one of the first few guys I listed and then using their first rounder on a WR, which from the little I know about this WR class and considering where the Bears pick would probably be someone like Michael Floyd.
  10. I think it should be Co-MVPs actually. The main difference in the stats is the ints from Brees but from the Saints game I watched hes had a lot of ints that werent his fault. Most recently I can think of the one that Jimmy Graham popped up in the air in the end zone against Atlanta. If I had to pick one Id say Rodgers but I think both of them deserve it and since theyve had Co-MVPs before that this wouldnt be a bad year to do it again. Throw Manning and Cutler into the mix because of how their teams did without them
  11. Playing in bad weather will hurt Green Bays offense too. If you look at the teams in the NFC playoffs going to Green Bay isnt as big a disadvantage as it seems. The Saints have very comparable receiving weapons to the Packers with probably the best option between both teams being Jimmy Graham. The Saints also have a better offensive line and the x factor being the Saints having a much better stable of running backs. So if the weather is awful then the Saints are more equipped to keep the ball on the ground. Atlanta has been on fire lately and as the Packers know momentum going into the playoffs can be huge. Michael Turner could have a huge game against the Pack in Green Bay too. San Fran has the defense and running game which is a better formula for bad weather but if they got down vs Green Bay they dont have the offensive firepower to keep up. The Giants are hot right now and have essentially played playoff games the past 2 weeks. As someone else said they have the pass rushers to disrupt the passing game too. Eli, Cruz, Nicks and Co also can handle bad weather. I dont think the Lions could beat the Pack considering they lost to them without the MVP yesterday. I dont think it matters though because I dont see Detroit getting past New Orleans anyway.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) I did my part. Was fun watching that beatdown Thats awesome you got to see the Bulls in Cali. Im visiting SoCal right now and wanted to go but the tix were more than I thought theyd be.
  13. I flew on Virgin America for the first time ever and they have a deal going with google where they let you use a free netbook for your flight with free wifi. They charge $12 if you use wifi on your own cpu but I thought it was a pretty awesome perk for free use of a netbook with wifi for a 5 hour flight.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) Given the bluray player I got for X-Mas, the PS3 I already have, and the wife and my Fire/Nooks, I signed up for Netflix streaming. First on the list is The League, which I somehow never watched. One thing, is there a way to get just an alphabetical listing of everything that is on Netflix? I get the categories with like 30 or so flicks/shows in each, but I know there is way more, because when I search for other stuff it shows up. /netflixnoob http://instantwatcher.com/ This site will let you sort them alphabetically if you go to ALL on the red bar at the top. Its also good for telling you the new stuff they add and when theyre taking off older stuff and you can sync it right to your instant queue. Also, Netflix.com is a lot easier to find stuff then the menus on PS3 and Xbox
  15. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) As much as I want that to happen, I don't think it's going to change much unless Ronnie Brewer starts playing at a consistent level offensively and knock down shots like he did last night. He is the only current wing outside of Deng who could provide the same type of intensity defensively. Deng still played 42 minutes last night, despite the Bulls holding a double digit lead midway through the 4th quarter, and I didn't see Thibs having any intentions of give Deng more rest, as he didn't take him out of the game when he took Rose out with a minute left. I think it will eventually come back to bite us, especially with this intense schedule. Thibs should look to rest Deng more when he takes him out in the second quarters, and take him out when the game is out of reach, like late in the fourth last night. I think Brewer, Korver, and even Jimmy Butler should get some burns in those situations with the way they are playing right now. Heck, I was looking for some Scal time when Thibs decided to take Rose out, I believe there was quite a few Bulls fans in attendance last night. Ya it seemed like it. Everytime Rose touched the ball in the 4th quarter the crowd was chanting MVP.
  16. Solid job on the west coast road trip so far Id say.
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) I would go for it (trading Forte, Briggs for draft picks) if our GM was Ted Thompson or any other competant talent evaluator, it's Angelo we are talking about, dude sucks at drafting as a whole. Exactly. While I also think Forte is slightly overrated (its hard for me to completely overlook his second season) I think Briggs is more important then people realize. He isnt Warrick Holdman where hed go to a different team and disappear. But theres absolutely no way Id want to trade key players on this team only to watch JA butcher the picks. Hes been wrong so often in the draft that to trade 2 of the few players hes drafted that have been good for more picks would be awful. They have the cap room to make some significant moves. Once the Urlacher era is over then the Bears are going to struggle to create a new identity so theyre better off trying to get some free agents who can come in and make an immediate impact. Despite not having depth at a lot of positions and not having a legit WR for years they have shown the last 2 seasons that when healthy they were close to being contenders.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) As far as I am concerned, he needs to at least remain in the discussion until the draft. If they are able to get a guy like Michael Floyd or something, fine, you can release him then. Additionally, you've got Knox coming off a surgery, and Bennett who's not the most injury-proof guy...so I guess it depends on what he wants...but from where I sit, he deserves a chance to potentially come back. I kinda felt this way going into this season. I didnt mind the pickup because we didnt do anything else to improve the position. However, imo if they go into next season where he would be good enough to be a top 3 WR on the roster they have already failed miserably.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) FWIW Martz has thought Hanie was garbage since he got here. Well Id have to imagine he was involved with the Enderle pick and was responsible for bringing in Roy Williams so he can stfu
  20. The most depressing thing about this game was realizing that had McCown been here and played since Cutler went down that the Bears would have for sure beat Kc and Denver and probably beaten Oakland.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) The pregame hype of Chandler in NY was vomit inducing. I heard Magic Johnson compare him to Kevin Garnett earlier. Thought that was kind of interesting.
  22. So we have tons of holes going into last years draft and decide to use our 4th pick on a potential third string qb and ignore the other pressing needs the team has. Our starting QB gets hurt, it turns out our backup QB is bad and instead of giving the draft pick a chance they bring in a guy off the street who wont be on the team next year to play the last 2 games of a lost cause. Well I suppose its a good thing we used that pick on a third string qb who they arent even going to give a chance to play instead of going after a WR, LT, RG, C, TE, CB, OLB, FS. Decisions like that and the inability to draft capable depth is the difference between the Bears going from riding high after the San Diego game to becoming a joke after Cutler and Forte went down. Then look at a team like Houston who has had Arian Foster, Matt Schaubb, Matt Leinart, Andre Johnson, Mario Williams and probably others I cant think of miss time this season and have managed to stay afloat.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) I thought it was a pretty funny indictment on their offense, honestly. What was Cutler rated as? Cutler went up to 87 right around when he got hurt. Forte is 93 too.
