  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Look, I just watched a YT vid the other day of a crazy f***ing b**** yelling "DIE! DIE!" as she's stabbing her infant child in the background of a 911 call made by some dope that didn't feel the need to try and stop the b**** first and then maybe make the call. That's the type of s*** that deserves limitless fury. You're just looking at the end result of this particular situation. Intent is big with me. Joe P indirectly contributed to an atrocity. Nobody is denying that. If Mike M had gone to the cops immediately after he saw what he saw, that would've been that. I agree about intent and I do believe that JP didnt foresee the outcome of all this but that doesnt make it ok. I could get drunk, end up driving and crash into a school bus of kindergartners. That certainly wouldnt have been my intent, and I definitely didnt foresee that as an outcome, but they also wouldnt let me say "Sorry I made a mistake, dont judge my whole life by my worst moment" and then wash my hands of it.
  2. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) Not really since Paterno had nothing, if he reported it they'd just ask if he witnessed the crime and if he said no he heard about it from a friend well that does no good. I'm also sure one of these kids had to tell their parents at some point who reported it to the cops so they knew something was going on. Wow, just wow.
  3. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) Amazing that some people will condemn a man and his entire life because of one mistake. If someone had to judge your legacy and life on this earth and only used the worst moment of your life you'd probably all look really s***ty too. No one deserves to be judged by their worst moment or mistake except the actual killers and rapist. A lot of it isnt condemning the man, its condemning his legacy, and rightfully so. People also arent only using the worst moment of his life to judge him. I dont think hes rotting in hell or is the definition of evil or anything. However, he deserved to be removed as coach and he deserves to have his legacy tarnished. Multiple children, who did nothing wrong, will NEVER have a chance to live a regular life and all that had to be done to prevent that was for someone to go to the police. If you were the parent of one of these children I wonder if youd be saying the same thing. "Ya I know my son was raped and will probably have psychological problems his entire life, but JP went to his superiors and thats all thats asked of him in the eyes of the law so meh, no biggie."
  4. The mistake Joe Pa made was not making sure that what Sandusky had done in the past got investigated by following up on what he had reported to his superiors. If that was the extent of it then it would be a lot easier to move past. However, thats not where it ended. Sandusky was allowed to remain a part of the program and used those resources to continue to rape children. I personally dont buy into the crazy old man defense, he did the bare minimum to avoid getting himself into trouble and then basically cleared his conscience of it because the man accused was a friend. Clearly nobody is dismissing Sandusky and McQueary, but just because what those two did was worse doesnt mean that what Joe Pa did isnt terrible and borderline criminal. Im not the type of person to celebrate someones death but in this case I certainly wont be mourning it either. I dont doubt that jp lived 99% of his life as a model citizen and role model but that 1% is inexcusable. To say "Oh he made a mistake, havent you ever made a mistake?" Are you f***ing serious? No I have never let someone get away with raping multiple children under my watch. But if I did I suppose its nice to know Ill have a bunch of people on the internet defending my actions, well I guess I would if I was a legendary football coach at least, maybe not now. Could Joe Pa have prevented the rapes that happened before he was informed of what McQueary saw? Obviously no. Could he have prevented the ones that happened after? Obviously yes. Inexcusable. Not just JP either, every person who was informed of what happened in that shower that didnt do something, anything, to make sure whatever was going on was put to an end does not deserve any sympathy.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) LACES OUT, DAN! Finkle is Einhorn
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) I don't think Belichick necessarily made the decision to throw deep into triple coverage. No but he made the decision to put his qb in the position to do it.
  7. Obviously Bellichick is a great coach but I will never agree with some of the crap he does in games. Throwing jump ball bombs into the end zone when you have a small lead in the middle of the 4th quarter...
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 12:02 PM) See, I don't get this at all. At least in my view, if you're going to drive in the snow, you have to drive like you are scared. If you're not scared to drive, then you wind up going to fast into a stop sign and that's how you wind up slipping and sliding through them. If it's snowing, I'd rather creep up to a light then wind up being unable to stop and slipping my way into the intersection. I've got a hill I have to go down by my house and it's almost impossible to stop at the bottom of it if I'm going m ore than 10 mph when I get to the top. And if it's snowing on the expressway, I want to be the guy staying in the right hand lane and letting everyone else pass while I watch them, rather than having to change lanes a lot or break/accelerate a lot. Not to mention it makes an enormous difference what type of car youre driving. I have a very light, rear wheel drive car and its basically an art form to be able to drive it in the snow. You cant accelerate through turns, you have to start slowing down for stops earlier and need to accelerate slower when starting from a stop. There certainly are people who let snow on the roads scare them waaaaaaaay too much but I dont know how many times Ive wanted to stop and throw a brick through some SUVs window for slamming on their horn because Im accelerating slower than usual after a red light or something.

  10. There is absolutely no way to determine who the best football player of all time is. Every position has a completely different role and theyre judged by completely different skill sets.
  11. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) What does everyone think about the 49ers resigning Alex Smith? While I'm elated he has been performing well, his contract price keeps getting higher now? I'd say you have to sign him to a Kevin Kolb type contract, and hope he continues to develop into an elite NFL Quarterback. At this point I think they have to resign him, and I dont see him wanting to go anywhere else considering Harbaugh resurrected his career and believed in him when basically nobody else did.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Raji one is better
  13. What are the cap ramifications if the Colts cut or traded Manning? Ive heard his cap number is 20 million and I know hes due a big roster bonus in the next few months. If they cut instead of trade him before the roster bonus would that soften the hit?
  14. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) This was a great line, after all the rips against SF this year, I have zero regrets about ripping on the Bears Have they found a GM yet? Ya this is pretty much what I was talking about.
  15. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) If the 49ers are your 2nd fav team root for them.. What jabs have I ever taken against the Bears? The Saints had several flaws that I pointed out, why I thought my team would beat them. I am ultimately glad they won, I just wanted the bs in this thread to stop. Of course the Saints have flaws and its good you were confident that your team would beat them but that doesnt mean you shouldnt expect a reaction when you guarantee a victory. I just wanted to point out that nobody here was openly hating on the niners (unless it was a reaction to something one of you guys said). The Saints were a great team and were having a historic season offensively. Las Vegas made the niners home underdogs for a reason. Ill give you guys credit though, if you sifted through all your posts you did make some great points, for example pointing out how much less effective the Saints offense had been outdoors etc. Im just saying that you dont have to turn it into "I guarantee the 49ers are gonna win and anyone who doubts us is a dumb Bears fan" Now that is probably not what you were trying to say but thats how it came across as to some people. So congratulations on the big win, your Harbaugh brother should run away with COTY and you guys have a great chance to advance to the Super Bowl.
  16. The 49ers are actually my second favorite team and have been since the early 90s and I was never in this thread badmouthing them or not giving them a shot to win, yet I have to come in here and read "98% of Bears fans this" or "Every Bears fan I know that" from the two 49ers fans. I realize this isnt a Bears forum but at the same time the White Sox play in Chicago, so of course the majority of the White Sox fan base will also be Bears fans. That said, the Bears fans on this board are actually some of the more knowledgeable and realistic fans you will come across on the internet. As the end of the season came and the playoffs began I found myself basically wanting the 49ers to get knocked out of the playoffs just because of how annoying this thread has been and because I was worried it would become unreadable if the niners won. To me its very similar to the Tim Tebow coverage on ESPN, if guys like Skip Bayless werent so far to one extreme that it basically forces other people to take on the other extreme and despise Tebow he probably would have been a lot of fun to root for. For example, Id be willing to bet if there were 0 niners fans on this board that well over half the people on here would vocally be rooting for the 49ers, me included. I hate the Saints personally. Also, it wasnt "hating" to think the niners were gonna lose. They were underdogs at home in Vegas and one of the biggest question marks about the niners is how would their offense handle getting into a shootout with one of the 3 big time offenses this season, and they certainly answered the question and Im sure in the process they impressed a lot of doubters. Also, a lot of the jabs you guys have taken at the Bears were just for the sake of trolling so a lot of the heat you took was reactionary. I know every fan base is littered with idiots and Im sure you do indeed have to listen to dumb Bears fans somewhere in your life but from what Ive seen it really isnt that bad in here.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Maybe it's me, but Shameless has sucked the first two episodes this season. I was just gonna post this. Both episodes have been weak but last nights was really bad to me.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) I know the Giants season numbers aren't there, but the only team out of the remaining 4 that you'd say "This team is big on offense and weak on defense" is the Packers. The rest of those teams have lost. Id put New England in that category as well
  19. What a joke of a roughing the passer penalty. The officiating this game has been atrocious favoring Green Bay. Fortunately it doesnt appear the refs will be able to do enough to blow this game for the Giants.
  20. If Denver takes offense to a quick kick maybe they should field an offense that isnt such a joke that the other team can give you a free possession without concern of you being able to do anything with it.
