  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) I just dont get Palin supporters, and I want someone who is really into politics on this site to help me out. If god forbid something happens to McCain if elected, Palin is your pres, are you really comfortable with that? Do you really feel good about her talking about her Mayorship and hockey mom stories to foreign leaders? The VP has some large responsibilities worldwide and I, for one, dont feel that comfortable with her representing and making decisions for this country. No, I honestly really dont Edit: However, I am much more comfortable with McCain over Obama. I know that wasnt the question, I just wanted to clarify.
  2. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 09:09 AM) I am just trying to enjoy the fact that the Sox are still playing baseball. There will be several months to worry about all that other stuff soon enough.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) I thought most people on here said the Obama-McCain debate was a draw. Obama to Palin isn't really comparable because his knowledge is much deeper than hers, "experience" aside, and it wasn't that "held his own" (read: managed to not be a flaming moron) so much as he stayed with McCain stride for stride on McCain's strong points for the most part. Obama and McCain were equal in that debate, it wasn't about expectations, so it was a draw. Just my opinion, and I thought that was the majority opinion here too. What Biden said about the Senate voting wasn't BS, he was making a point. He was saying that if you want to accuse Obama of "voting against funding the troops" (the fact that this keeps getting brought up by the McCain camp is an insult to my intelligence, btw), then if you use that same standard, McCain did the same thing, for a different reason. The BS about dissecting people's voting records is f***ing retarded, IMO. People do it all the time. They make a bill, part 1 says "we will provide funding to kindergartners" and part 2 says "also there will be mandatory castrations for all black people." So when somebody votes against it, their opponent comes out and says "see they hate kindergartners WTF!" I guess I just personally thought McCain did better than Obama because I agree with more of his ideas than Obamas and he didnt do anything to make me even consider voting for him, which goes both ways I realize. These debates all hinge on personal expectations people set and if each candidate exceeds them or not. For the most part I can honestly say, each has done a little better than I thought they would but none have done enough to drastically change my opinion. Its easy for me to say already being aligned with a party, I guess its how the independents view them. (AHB's polls from CNN dont count)
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) I heartily agree with most of your post. I don't think Biden was B.S.'ing any more than Palin though. I think the key thing to look at is, how did the undecideds and independents see it. I have yet to see that poll. But that's all that matters, really. Im not really talking about Biden BSing any more or less than Palin, I just thought it was good that he would call her out on it more effectively and she really didnt discredit anything he said. I think Biden had a pretty good strategy and that it worked for him. The more I hear of Palin the less confidence I have in her but ultimately I can hope the McCain platform of reform is true because thats really high on my priority list for candidates. Basically, neither debate thus far has made me question what "party" I follow because none of the four candidates has done or said anything that I find completely believable in its ability to make my life better. After this financial crisis, Im beginning to think Ron Paul is my candidate because there is nothing "conservative" going on in Washington and W has tore apart the foundation of the entire political view.
  5. I personally dont think Palin won the debate. However, I dont think Obama won his debate either, but since he was only supposed to hold his own pretty much everyone on here called it a win for him. Going by those standards you could say Palin won too because Bidens performance didnt wow anybody similar to how McCains didnt. What bothered me about Palin last night is she never called out Biden on his BS. He was at the point where he was making things up to prove points and she didnt know the facts to question it. Like when they talked about cutting funds for troops and Biden said McCain voted the same way Obama did, which isnt true. I wish the debate was less about defending the Presidential candidates voting history and more about what they bring to the table. I think everyone who cares about politics enough to watch the debate probably had a pretty close idea of what each candidate was going to say on their answers just because we have heard all the arguments a million times.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) CNN- Who Won: Biden - 51 Palin - 36 Fox who won Biden - 12 Palin - 86
  7. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Some real sour grapes on NSBB.com bcl412 third eye bcl412 I like the third one about playing the team with the worst record. Ironically, the Dodgers do have the worst record for the playoff teams in the NL. Actually, of all playoff teams.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) Griffey and Wise can't be near the lineup. In a perfect world, neither would Thome. You think its bad having two black holes batting 2nd and 6th?
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) Here is what will happen. The moderator will ask Biden a generic question. Biden will answer at length, throwing in some tiny bit of obscure data about the question that maybe 10 people even know about. The moderator will then rephrase the question to Palin, somehow using that little tidbit that Biden threw in, challenging her to respond to that. There will be lots of mentions of Alaska and Delaware, 3 attempts to tie Palin/McCain to Bush, 3 or 4 mentions of mutual respect for each other, 1 mention of moose and no mentions of the moderator having a book about the political success of Barack Obama coming out on the day of inauguration, which would sell much better if Obama is actually President. I think she will be outmatched, but you are absolutely right. The moderation of a debate is crucial and to have one that is supposed to be so biased is bush league. Funny hearing AHB comparing the the length of public service though, it looked kind of like the resume of the Presidential candidates experience wise.

  11. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) Wow, I didnt think the Cubs would get punked like this. Its probably a real good thing that they cut off beer sales last inning I thought it was only clinching games
  12. If the Cubs lose this game there is going to be wide spread panic.
