  3. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) lol. they don't call him wheels konerko for nothing lol i like it
  4. vazquez is looking really good so far as usual....
  5. It's kind of interesting though, his value is really high right now and he will have that no trade clause. The Braves need to make some changes this offseason to be competitive in the NL East again. The Mets, Phillies, and even Marlins should be really improved by next year.
  6. Just figured I'd post this, since this is kind of a unique situation. I just wonder who claimed him... I really doubt it has anything to do with the White Sox. Link Andruw Jones claimed on waivers; 10-5 rights loom By Buster Olney ESPN The Magazine With Andruw Jones only days away from gaining trade veto power, the All-Star center fielder was claimed on waivers by an unnamed team, leaving the Braves until 1 p.m. ET Saturday to decide whether to take their last opportunity to deal Jones unfettered. That Jones was placed on waivers is unremarkable; he was one of hundreds of players, including many stars, who were placed on waivers earlier this week. What makes Jones' situation interesting is that on Aug. 15, he will gain 10-and-5 rights -- 10 years in the big leagues, five with the same team -- to block any proposed trade. Multiple teams placed claims on Jones, according to major-league sources. But on Thursday afternoon, one team was awarded a claim on Jones. Now the Braves have two choices -- either work out a trade with the team who placed the claim by Saturday or pull Jones back from waivers. If they pull him back, they cannot trade him again for the rest of this season. Jones' value in the trade market is relatively high right now, because he is a highly productive player locked up for only one more year -- at $13.5 million -- at a time when players like Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Lee might command $70 million packages on the free-agent market. The Boston Red Sox tried to deal for Jones leading up to the trade deadline, with some intent to try to flip him to the Houston Astros for Roy Oswalt. Some scouts also think that the Los Angeles Angels, who've been looking for a bat, might have high interest in Jones. Atlanta GM John Schuerholz, reached on his cell phone, said Friday afternoon that he would not comment on the team's internal business. Buster Olney is a senior writer for ESPN The Magazine. and i'm an idiot and spelled andruw wrong. whoops....
  7. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) You're right. Pods, Ozuna, and Cintron are "slowish power hitters." Considering that only one of them, maybe two, can be in the game at the same time, I'd say that we are anything but a small ball team this year. The other 8 guys in the lineup think they're mashers, and Pods has recently too.
  8. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) on the bright side, we're still way ahead of cleveland lol, for how long?
  9. ok, i know i've been b****ing enough, but I swear if i see another god damn fly ball... i'd rather see groundouts from our 3-4-5-6-7 then these fishin stupid swing for the fence hacks
  10. you gotta wonder what's going through the players' heads right now.
  11. I'm normally not a very pessimistic person, but I think this thread needs a bump.
  12. lol, dang they really suck right now. It's really hard to believe that the Royals have outplayed us for about a month now. this is really, really sad
  13. I can't remember the last time I've been so mad as a chisox fan. this is just ridiculous. Kenny, I don't care what you do, but it has to be something. We are not going to win with this club unless something miraculous happens with the offense and pitching staff.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) You guys don't have to worry about him anymore. He is just trolling and that isn't something thats tolerated. fair enough have they said anything on the score lately? what is their website? I'd like to see if they haven't said anything new
  15. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) your the biggest joke this site has ever seen... always have been, go lay on the freeway or something... anything you could do would be time well spent compared to the crap you dwindle around here. strong words lol
  16. Yeah, there's a difference between patience and ignorance. If they're gonna be patient, they need to at least build his confidence by not letting him pitch to the order the third time, whether it be in the third or sixth inning. McCarthy is more than capable to go out there and shut people down for a few innings. Leaving Vazquez out there longer than the sixth (I don't care about pitch count) is not going to win us any games. I don't care how much he's paid, if he can't go out there and do it for seven innings, then we will pay him a lot to do it for six, and hope he comes aronud in the future. We can still get our money's worth if we use him properly. I have no problem with him going five or six innings with McCarthy waiting in the pen. Otherwise, what's the point of having McCarthy; Ozzie hardly ever uses him for more than a few batters anyway.
  17. ehhhh, this is an intelligible conversation
  18. wherever he goes, i hope someone picks him up real soon for broadcasting, coaching, or whatever. that's too bad, he was my favorite analyst on baseball tonight
  19. for some reason, i'm thinking this will be just like last year's game, when Garcia pitched a one hitter and we lost. i really hope the offense shows up today, or it's gonna be another spoiled outing for Contreras
