  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) Not going to project any free agent signings? If we even have half these players on the club there would be well over 40 million remaining on our budget. Fine, we can have some FAs...how about Zach Duke, Justin Verlander, BJ Upton, Felix Pie and Prince Fielder
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) The entire 40 man roster CAN be there, but that is almost unheard of. Wow. Thanks. I can see Ozzie wanting 20 peetchers because he doesn't want to wear out "these kids" and using each for 0.1 innings like he does a lot.
  3. As far as September call-ups, how many people will be on the active roster after September 1st? For some reason, I cannot recall.

  5. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Isn't Meaux the guy the Sox traded a year or two ago and then got him back this year via waivers or rule 5 or something. If so, Blum for someone off of waivers is pretty good. That was Ryan Wing, who was lost to the Rangers via rule 5 and then picked back up this year off waivers. He was supposed to be really good but had an injury early in his minor league campaign similar to Kris Honel.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) That wasn't serious was it??? Just a joke.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) :headshake Well, I'm sorry that an older picture of me is wearing on your mind and prevents you from posting knowledgeably..... No, I can post knowledgably. I was just answering your question. I have nothing against you but you asked a question and I felt I should answer. And its unbiased coming from me because I am new to the board and don't have a history of what you are like or not like. I just let you know what I gathered from my short time on the board. BTW, tell your 11-year-old bro that he looks like he is 12.
  8. Soxfan1, is that really your picture on your sig? That is why age is a big issue...you should remove your 7th grade yearbook picture from the sig. Put an updated pic or wait to put a pic back up when you start shaving at least once every two weeks. Although you seem very knowledgable about the Sox, its hard to take you seriously when it looks like you are a sad 12-year-old from Danville, IL wearing old school fashions.
  9. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Some numbers to look at when considering trades: CWS Apr 05 .255/.691 vs Opponents .229/.652 CWS May 05 .254/.754 vs Opponents .252/.717 CWS Jun 05 .271/.781 vs Opponents .241/.687 CWS Jul 05 .270/.758 vs Opponents .276/.782 The hitting has really picked up, but the pitching has gone south. June HOT-RP: Politte, Cotts, S. Takatsu June HOT-SP: Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, June COLD-RP: Vizc, Marte, Hermy, Walker June COLD-SP: Contra, El Duque, BMac Record: 18-7. L's by SP 4 Jul HOT-RP: Vizc, Jul HOT-SP: Garland, Jul COLD-RP: Politte, Cotts, S. Takatsu Vizc, Marte, Hermy, Walker Jul COLD-SP: Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, Contra, El Duque, BMac Record: 12-10. L's by SP 8 I have greater faith in the starters to pick it up than I do the pen. The highest trade priority must be the bullpen. I know this analysis was supposed to mean something as to why we need more help in the bullpen but you lost me.... It appears that our pitching, which has been our strength has been cold in July thus leading to our struggles. However, our hitting as been atrocious for most of the year so I think we really could use some help there. We may have a ton of steals but we also lead the majors in caught stealing with 45. We may be getting timely hitting to eek out a win but that's because our pitching has kept us close. Like last year when the runs scored would be 14, 0, 1, 2, 9, 1, 2, 8, 0, 11 in consecutive games, this years its 7, 0, 2, 3, 4, 11, 1, 2, 1, 3, 2, 4 but we are winning a lot of those games where we score less than 4. I think we need a lefty bat via trade, Crede to keep coming on, Pierzynski and Konerko to pick it up, Rowand to heat up with more power and Uribe to return to utility man (either Lugo or Vizquel in his place). And upgrade pitching as necessary.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) No that trade was completely different. It centered around Alfonseca, who was awful. Clement was an afterthought. Plus Willis was a single A guy. Okay, thanks. I don't really care to know a lot about the Cubs so I didn't know the exact trade but now I do remember that "El Poopa" was in that deal. I'm just a little hesitant about losing the "spring training" B-Mac, who just turned 22 and is a strikeout artist that doesn't throw all that hard (less likely to be injured similar to Black Jack McDowell) for a guy we will get for 3 months that hasn't been the same pitcher since the Tommy John surgery (although no one can deny his stuff).
  11. Sounds like a deal that could help the Whitesox win it this year but anyone else a little worried about the eery similarilities to the Willis for Clement trade made by the Cubs. Clement is solid and the Cubs did have him for a couple years but Willis looks pretty dominant thus far in his young career. We may only get AJ for 3 months and lose McCarthy. I think this is just an off-year for Lowell and he is a big time clutch player so hopefully we pull the trigger. I just hope we don't give up any more active roster guys, not named Timo or Willie.
