QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) The cool thing is thinking about the bands we loved that did not pass the test of time. For me I'm thinking of acts like Joe Jackson Look Sharp!. Boomtown Rats. Teenage Radiation, Leisure Suits. Otis Day. No doubt I would have had them in the top 20 at some point. No kidding. I go back to when I was in my teens and there were lots of Chicago area bands making it big. The Shadows of Knight, New Colony Six, Buckinghams, Cryan' Shames, Ides of March, Mauds, The Flock, and more. Those were my favorite bands once and I nearly put the Shadows of Knight on this list.

Now you must tell us why.

See, this is so hard for old sh*ts like you and me Tex because we've been listening to music for like eighty years and that covers a lot of bands. Remember John Philip Sousa? He had a helluva band.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) CQ, Peavy, Floyd, Danks, Flowers,, I guess you can count Rios since we traded salary. So basically this year, last year, the year before. Not to mention getting Billy Pierce for Aaron Robinson. That was a steal. -
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) my top 5 i think was Bouncing Souls Underoath Gaslight Anthem From Autumn To Ashes Rise Against how many people here have heard of all 5? HAHA! I've never heard of any of 'em. Ya ever hear of The Litter ? Osibisa? The Frut? Brinsley Schwarz? I didn't see anything in my message sent folder. I don't think that option is working.

The thing to keep in mind is this is a list of FAVORITE bands. Not a list of best or most influential or important...blah blah blah. Therefore, even I won't be upset to see some shi**y screamo deathmetal bands make the list.

QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:10 AM) Not to continually armchair quarterback this thing, but i also believe the list needs to be broken up by decade. Cause it's kind of unfair that Green Day and Nirvava etc. are going up against Dylan and The Beatles etc. Seems like there's gonna be a big generational gap in this list. Couldn't agree more. But, hey it's just for fun.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) What is all this love about CJ? I particularly don't think much of him, if anything a role player off the bench of some sort. The minor league player love gets to be a tad ridiculous sometimes. Until they prove something I certainly don't want us plugging them into the lineup to start the season. I'm one of those CJ lovers (hmmm, that sounds weird) but even I'm not sure if he's ready for the big league. But the guy flat out hits wherever he's been. He's another one too that can play anywhere. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) I like this move quite a bit actually. Teahen is essentially a mega-utility player who scouts used to peg as the next Jason Giambi. He's not going to reach that, but he kills us. He kills in the Cell. Fields has no future here. He particularly killed Buehrle (24-53, .453). Mark has to a happy camper. -

I'm not too sure what to think. It kinda depends a lot on what else is going down. I'll miss Getz's speed that's for sure. Teahen is hardly a guy to get all excited about but he's certainly ok as part of the big plan whatever the f*** that turns out to be. I'm really hoping for Figgins. -

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) Hopefully they're considered the same as Frank Zappa. I probably should have had him on my list as The Mothers of Invention, but instead I just had him as FZ so his post-Mothers years were also included Yeah, I think you have to consider Frank Zappa and The Mothers as one and the same. John Lennon is my all-time favorite artist but I didn't list him...just that band he played in.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) Motherly Love! Wowie Zowie!

This was WAY too hard to trim it down to 20! Incidentally, I had Mothers of Invention in the top 10.... Yikes! I forgot about Procol Harum....they wouldn't wouldn't have survived the cut anyway.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) Favorite Fact about Opossums? Strangest opossum encounters?

I thought it was horror-ible.

Ooooops. Certainly not my favorite song connected with Joe Walsh, anyway.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) They should really give you more time for that. Almost impossible to get more than 70 or so...I got 51, and obviously missed plenty I knew, but still very difficult. I've never even heard of Cap Anson, the Cubs number 1 hit leader. If I recall correctly, Cap Anson played in the 1800's. Not that I was around back then.

Me too. That is, if I'm even indeed "sane".
