QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 08:15 AM) I remember when WGN would put together a great old movie lineup for New Year's Day and would have Family Classics with Frazier Thomas on Sundays. I remember Bozo and Ray Rayner. I remember when FOX was WFLD Chicago 32 and would show reruns of Laurel & Hardy, The Little Rascals, and Blondie. I remember when Ditka coached the Bears and was a god. I remember Mike Ditka being the guest speaker at my older brother's Letterman Dinner at York High School in 1964. I remember the Early Show (an afternoon movie on channel 2). I remember when all there was to watch on TV were channel 2, 5, 7 and 9 (and it was all black and white). I remember when Bob Bell who played Bozo played Andy Starr (an old guy who ran a movie theater and showed Three Stooges shorts). I remember Shock Theater hosted by Marvin on Saturday nights. I remember when candy bars were a nickel.

Uni Watch: Sox uniform history plus...new uni ideas?!
BigEdWalsh replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Like The Critic, I'd be ok if the uniform changed. I've seen a lot of changes to White Sox uniforms so I'm kinda used to the uniform changing every now and then. My all-time favorite is the current uniform followed by the Dick Allen-era red uniforms. In 1980 or whenever it was, the fans voted for the new uniform and the Winnin' Ugly uniforms were the winner. I voted for something else, but I thought it was really cool to have the fans vote. That'd be kinda neat if they did that again. -
With my family, my favorite White Sox moment has to be the very first game my dad took me to in I believe August of 1962. It was so magical seeing the ballpark as we drove up to it. In 1962 there was no Dan Ryan yet. It was a night game, so I just remember being fascinated with the lights and how huge Comiskey Park was. And of course getting inside and seeing the field....christ! Early Wynn was pitching against the Twins and lost 2-0. I think he was going for career win 299 that night. But, it was great. I saw my boyhood heroes (especially Louie Aparicio) for the first time. Other favorite moments were when after I got out of high school in 1968, I went to a LOT of games alone. But I had a blast. Those were days when I might be at a game attended by 1,000 (TOTAL). Another favorite moment was taking my son to his first game and every other game after that which I took him to. The whole father-son/White Sox thing is almost indescribably cool.

QUOTE (The Bones @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) No need for me to vent, I'm the Soxtalk League 1 Champion! Ya got me. I was going for the gold with both of my teams and both wound up with silver. I'm not disappointed though since prior to this season I have sucked at fantasy football. Congrats, Bones!

2005 Sox Best World Series Team of the Decade?
BigEdWalsh replied to palehose23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Damn. It's not like I didn't know all that stuff, but when you see it all listed like that in the article it's very impressive. Ahhhh, those were the days. -
I have lots. The one that annoyed my family the most is that I have to have all the dishes in cupboards in the same order all the time. That goes for silverware and whatnot in drawers too. If someone else put anything away not in the fashion I would do, I would change it to my liking. I'm pretty fussy about the way food is put in cupboards too.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 08:25 AM) I'm with you there. Not much a coach can do but take some timeouts and maybe try a play or two. But in the end it's the 5 guys on the court that basically stopped playing. How did they not see the lead go from 35 to 10 before kicking it back in gear? The Bulls just are not good. With this team right now there is no kicking it into high gear. There needs to be wholesale changes. Starting with firing Vinnie would be a good start. -

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) Ideally, I'd want two boys (to pass on the name, which isn't very common) and two girls. That's exactly what we had. Two boys and two girls. I think that it's ideal.

On a random note, boy it's good to see that Tracy McGrady leads Steve Nash in All Star voting by more than 9,000 votes for the West’s second guard spot, despite not having played yet this year. Gotta love the fan vote. -
