QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) Wow, a lot of the older bands I assumed would be in the top 10 are appearing in the higher numbers. Maybe it won't be so generational at the end. Cept the beatles 1 and proably Dylan 2 I don't think Dylan is gonna be that high. There's not much more of a Dylan fan than me and I had him at 4.

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) Linkin Park beats Cream. Something is seriously wrong here. Of course, I made the mistake of forgetting to put Cream on my list. Ginger Baker is one of my favorite drummers, too Don't forget Felix, this is a list of favorites not best or historically important rock acts. If this is a list of best or most important.....yikes!!

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) You and me both, though for me it was less forgetting and more of them being just at the cusp of making it. Zeppelin on the other hand I just plain forgot. How the heck could you forget Zeppelin?! And be nice to albinos!! But you're right that would have been one ug...er...interesting-looking band.

"Factoid: Eric Clapton was actually shy about singing. Early on, he occasionally harmonized with Jack Bruce in Cream but, in time, took lead vocals on some notable Cream tunes including "Four Until Late", "Strange Brew", "Crossroads", and "Badge"." There's a video of early Cream doing "Strange Brew" and Clapton looked indeed very nervous and uncomfortable singing on camera.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 07:06 AM) Yup, now my age and complete disconnection from music today is showing as I keep asking "who"? Ditto. But, I've been checking out the bands and giving them a fair shot. Queens of the Stone Age are pretty good. Modest Mouse...ok. The Killers, I acually like quite a bit. So, Ive been turned on to some new stuff. Slipknot, I had heard of but never knew their stuff. Yeeeech, atrocious, but hey I'm 59 f***ing years old. Oh, and Rise Against, sorry completely forgettable stuff to my ears.

As the oldest codger, I promise to not get upset. After all, I don't want to get my blood a-boilin' and have a heart attack or anything. I don't care what these young whippersnappers are listening to. Heck, if I wanted a 50 Fav Rock Acts to have all bands from the 60's and 70's I'd best be hanging around somewhere else.

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) If it's any consolation, I consider you lucky Just as I figured.

It had to happen....I've never even heard of Rise Against. God, I'm so old!

Tull and the Doors didn't quite make my list but they were certainly considered. As I said before, making a list of 50 would have been easier and less stressful....but way more work for Knightni.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) I was a little miffed at the Wiki synopsis for completely blowing off Adrian Belew's extended contributions to the ensemble in the Stop Making Sense era as well as his awesome presence on Remain in Light. I know he was just a hired gun, but I loves me some Belew. Come to think of it, In addition to listing Adrian Solo/The Bears in my top 20, I also have him included by association three additional times with FZ, KIng Krimson, and Bowie. I could have included Laurie Anderson for the superfecta. I used to leave a block away from him. Never saw him around very much though.

Anybody here see Gonzalez play when he was with Kane County? Jeez, he was awesome even then. He was probably only 19.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) Hey Ni. . . For previous list countdowns, didn't you include the names of all teh SWoxTalkers that included a particular entry, and not just the poster who scored it in the highest slot? I thinks that's what you did, and I liked that. Agreed! I miss that.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) I came in here to post the exact same thing. Thank you. Hmmm. I thought the same thing also.

I'm 59 and probably due to senility I don't remember my list too well. I can't for the life of me remember my list. Like Tex said, I too when making my list had bands (one of them being Pearl Jam) on the list, then off the list, then back on the list. Anyway, yeah old as I am, I still think Pearl Jam is a GREAT band. I have to admit though, I'm not familiar with Radiohead. I've heard of them, but that's it.

I can relate. I'm in 2 leagues, both of my teams lead their leagues in points scored and neither is in 1st place. In fact in a 10 team league one of them is in 9th f***ing place. Sometimes I think I should just give up on fantasy football. I have real sh*tty luck.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) I struggled too much with what I consider "good" music in the sense it did a lot for music in a cultural sense, and what I personally like to listen to. I made my list way too top heavy with bigger names that were important instead my actual favorite people to listen to. Oh well. I did the same thing to some degree. I bet a lot of us did. The thing is, they were "important" to me and I did listen to them a lot at least at one time.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) It's time to move on. He has become a role player without a position at this point. I hope this team has its' sights set a little higher. I agree, much as I love the guy. This would be too much like in 2000 getting Harold Baines back for a last go-around. I think Thome probably has more left in him than Harold did but it's just time to move on. I would LOVE to have him in the organization in some kind of coaching capacity if he were so inclined. -
Not a big deal. It's what you do in a normal relationship, a lot of sucking up. When I was dating my wife I took her to see Apocalypse Now. I loved it, but it wasn't exactly the kinda movie chicks like. Very shortly after we were married she wanted to see Xanadu. I went...what a piece of crap movie that was. Through the course of being married I watched a lot of crap I for sure wouldn't have watched were I on my own. You go. You don't even have to pretend to like it though for the sake of the relationship maybe you should at least say, "Eh. It was alright". Be sure to chuckle a few times.
