QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) I thought you moved out of Utah, Ed? I did. I moved back to live with my youngest son. Ugh. I miss Washington!!!

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Birmingham - Molina (good start) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...tenaax_biraax_1 Great Falls- Linza http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...grfrok_orerok_1 Just drove right by the Orem ballpark. Glad to see the Voyagers are doing well tonight. Damn, this is the one I should have gone to.

Glad Lincoln is still out there. Might as well score a few more.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) Enjoy I was forewarned about the gamethreads by Tex when I joined Soxtalk from that other Sox site. That was 7 years ago. Some things never change.

Nice job, Veal!

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 07:12 PM) AJ should get some MVP votes. He certainly should. I personally have to think he's the Sox MVP, though Rios isn't far behind.

Is Lincoln Toronto's Will Ohman, so to speak?

DAAAAAAAAAMN!!

Just think that there were undoubtedly Mariners fans at the game who have now witnessed 2 perfect games in one season. That's kind of amazing.

I'm probably gonna get kinda giddy if Gavin just gets through the 1st without allowing a run.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) Orem beat Great Falls, 8-7 Micah Johnson and Yoandy Barroso both 3 hits Brennan 3.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K Beck 1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K I was at the Voyagers game. I like Micah Johnson offensively. His homer was clobbered, all his hits hard hit. Defensively he seemed kinda slow-footed. So many of Orem's hits were seeing-eye singles that were just out of the reach of the Great Falls infielders. This kid Barroso has a strong arm in RF. Brennan was pretty impressive. He had a good mix of pitches. Beck came into the game with the bases loaded and 2 outs and fanned his man. His fastball was clocked at 92. He looked pretty good but struggled with his control. It was a fun game until the bottom of the 8th. There were a few Sox fans in attendance, that's cool to see these young guys get some support at a road game.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) What are his numbers this year? Isn't that more important than what he did in 2006 or 2009? BTW, Jordan Danks career OBP before the one AB you said had no bearing on your feelings was .260 and his sluggling pct. .271. The verdict is in. You lose. In celebration of your self-appointed victory we'll be showing Mark Buehrle's perfect game in it's entirety. Be there and you can finally see Wise's catch.
-
Since some people want so badly to point out numbers: Wise's career mlb OBP in over 1000 plate appearances (again he's not young) is .259. I rest my case. There will be refreshments served in the lobby while the jury deliberates.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) I think it's pretty obvious he'll hit below .200 again. But his dingers have been a big plus this year and his RBIs. Yeah. Earlier this year. The HRs have been few lately. I just want to believe that he could use a rest which is pretty much out of the question currently, unfortuately. For a little too long now he has looked like the woeful Dunn of last season. I want the Dunn of April and May back.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 12:36 PM) EDIT: And very happy to see Veal back. Right on.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) You wouldn't have had as much company as you do today. Wise's OPS in the major leagues this season is .791 and he's better at stealing bases than Danks. I'll take the mediocre veteran over the mediocre rookie everytime in crunch situations. Sorry you have a problem with that. You might be right that I wouldn't have as much company. Just prior to his game winning homer I saw a post or two complaining about his lack of power. My whole point is that his 49 spotty ABs don't really mean a whole lot as an indication of how worthy he is and I don't have a problem that you would prefer a mediocre veteran over a mediocre rookie. That's your opinion and you're welcome to it. I have a problem with you having a problem with my opinion....huh?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) If he popped out and didn't homer, there wouldn't have been complaining about a guy with a .260 OBP and a .520 OPS being optioned to AAA for 20 days. Wrong. I would have. It's not about the f***ing homer or his OPS in his 49 ABs. I happen to like his speed, his defense and his potential and prefer him to Dewayne Wise. Why do you have such a problem with that?
-
It's funny that everyone is harping on the homerun. No one except for Greg (bless him) has said that was the reason why Danks should still be on the Sox and that was in another thread. The Sox made a decision to go with a more experienced guy in Wise as their 4th outfielder for the next 20 days. I just happen to think Danks was doing fine in that role and there was no need for Wise in the first place. That said, I hope Wise does a Rennie Stennett in his next game and goes 7 for 7.
