QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) I am definately fine with JD coming back. If MacDougal, Boone, Thornton can have good years next year (w/ Jenks) then I think the potential is there for the pen to pick it up...that isn't even considering Wasserman, Day, Massett, and Aardsmas roles next year, as I expect all 4 of them to improve. I am glad we are seeing Richar now, but I really would like a big-time CF and a SS who can run that has better bat control. Outside of that, I see troubling signs with our rotation. Mark Buehrle is a hoss...no doubt. Javy seems to have turned the corner and I hope he keeps heading up, Garland is solid...but the other two, Contreras appears finished, and Danks is now going through a tough period. I actually have faith in Danks, because he has shown the ability in the past to improve, he is mentally tough, and has a lot of talent. Still, there are questions all over this team...that if answered in a positive fashion could put the Sox in contention next year. Unless we were to replace Dye of someone of comparable skill set (and that doesn't exist in our current minor leagues) not having Dye would probably mean we'd be in a rebuilding mode. From everything I have read on Danks he struggles the 1st year in a new league, and then picks it up the following year.

Well here is some stats from the "Great" Mets pitching staff against recent AL opponents. Glavine - 4.1 IN 9 ER vs Det 4.0 IN 7 ER vs NYY 8.0 IN 1 ER vs Oak Maine - 7.1 IN 1 ER vs Minn 7.0 IN 2 ER vs Oak (Don't forget his awesome 2005 season in the AL w/ Bal and his 6.30 era) Perez - 5.0 IN 5 ER vs Det 7.1 IN 0 ER vs NYY 5.1 IN 4 ER vs Minn Hernandez - 4.2 IN 6 ER vs NYY 7.0 IN 0 ER vs Oak Sosa - 8.0 IN 0 ER vs Det 3.1 IN 5 ER vs Minn That is 71.1 innings pitched and 40 earned run which makes the Mets starters have a 5.07 era vs the AL. BTW - I'd take the two picks over Milledge as well. The organization needs depth that is why teams like the Tigers can do what they do. IMO I hope the Sox trade Mark to the Braves for Salty and maybe someone else. I think Milledge will not fulfill all of the hype he gets. I also believe the Sox should start spending some money in the international scouting department.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Nah, you got to package Contreras in that deal. I wouldn't package Buehrle in a deal unless you are getting Betemeit, Ethier, Billingsley, Kershaw and Kemp (and no way do the Dodgers make that deal or at least I doubt they do). The key is, deal Contreras and Dye and than see what you can get for Iguchi, Uribe and whoever else in secondary deals (potentially Vazquez although I have no problem holding onto him, unless of course the Mets or some other team wow you with an offer). See if you get Thome to agree to a deal and talk with the Angels. Bottom line, reup with Buehrle, extend Garland....sign a few free agents but also use the money to re-up guys you do like and obviously spend some of it on scouting, etc. The other day when I was on here you folks where saying that we couldn't trade Dye for Billingsley in a one for one deal. Plus we couldn't get anything good for Jose. 2-3 days later now for Dye & The Count we can get Billingsley, Betemeit, and Clayton Kershaw!? I just love trade deadline time lol.... Do you think it's possible the Sox could get the Billingsley/Betemeit/Kershaw package PLUS a package from the Mets of Milledge/Pelfrey/Lower Tier A Ball Prospect? Even though they might be waving a white flag right now I think that team would be fun to watch. Build the future rotation around Garland & Billingsley Just my two cents...

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) I'm almost certain that the Dodgers wouldn't give us Billingsley alone for Dye. The Braves might give us Salty alone for Buehrle, Iguchi and MacDougal. I'm pretty sure that the Cardinals would give us Reyes for Contreras and no cash. I think the Sox can do better than this. Reyes is way too much of a ? talentwise and healthwise. Those are my opinions. I think you overvalue Salty and undervalue Mark. I would take draft picks over that trade.

Are the following trades possible or should I drop the x box controller? White Sox Get: C. Billingsley & J. Loney(or A. Either) Dodgers Get: J. Dye White Sox Get: Salty & J. Devine & K. Johnson Braves Get: M. Buehrle & T. Iguchi & M. MacDougal White Sox Get: A. Reyes Cardinals Get J. Contreras + cash Tell me what you think about these deals. I think I stretched the Sox/Braves deal too much. I originally thought Salty & Devine for Buehrle. So do I play too much x box or what?

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) it makes it tough for me to show up to watch a heartless team. they have no passion. it would be easier if beers weren't like $7 and hot dogs weren't $4. I hear ya. You know when the Sox are not on TV I usually watch the D Rays because even though they most likely are gonna lose the game they are fun as hell to watch. I wish the Sox were that way. I have always wished that one day the Sox would have a $100+ Mil payroll and have good attendence. I figured we'd be unbeatable. Boy was I wrong! $100 Mil buys you a heartless team now days I guess. Now we get to watch as the Tigers & Indians win the next 3-4 division titles. Oh well! After I get done throwing up in a trash can after watch a 07 Sox game, I'll pop in the 05 WS Champs DVD

QUOTE(lemon44 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) This team is very hard to watch. Everyone is just going thur the motions. I think they have already given up on the season. I've been holding out hope that the Sox could pull around like the A's did a few times. Start slow then pick it up and win the division, but..........

IMO I think he's been crap ever since the start of the 2nd half in 06

All I can say is thank GOD we had 2005!

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) This was my post yesterday in another thread...I think it fits here better... Last year from 6/6 to 7/6 we played 29 games and won 22 of them. This included some tough games against Detroit, Texas, the World Series Cardinals, the prior World Series Astros and a heated rivalry with the Cubs. I think they have this kind of run in them again. Nothing is clicking right now. This is not blind optimism. We had pitching click early on. We have some hitting as of late, but the pitching has dropped off. When both things get on track we can make a nice run, especially with our upcoming schedule. The season isn't over. Sit back relax and strap it down!! Just don't strap it on.

Is it possible to lead the league in homeruns and be at the bottom avg wise? -
Is there a website that I can look on and find out tonight's lineups of all the MLB games?

I would LOVE to join, but can we make the time in the evening?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) It's really not of concern. There's dead weight on the 40-man. Sean Tracey, Dewon Day, Paulino Reynoso, Pedro Lopez, Andy Gonzalez, Casey Rogowski. None are likely to ever make an impact on the big league roster. If the Sox want to upgrade, they'll have no problem letting one of these go... Exactly why do we have Andy Frickin Gonzalez on the 40 man squad?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) It depends just how much value they believe Rios has. On an unrelated sidenote I still think we should be trying to move Buehrle, unless we think we can ink them. I totally agree on Mark. What team do you guys think offer the best package for Garland or Vazquez? Mets? Jays? Rangers?
-
Do you think the Blue Jays would do a Rios/League/Romero for Garland or Vazquez? Or do I need to step away from the XBox?
-
Would a team like the Reds take him? I mean their SS is Royce! ugh.
-
Say that the Sox do get ARod for Crede, Garcia, and Broadway what would we do with Juan? I'd rather have ARod/Fields over ARod/Uribe. If the Sox could trade him, what could we get for him?
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) With Mark L leaving the Pads there is not a chance in hell, they move Barfield. You have a better chance for us to get Peavy. I don't think they are totally sold on him. Do you guys think that Texas would do the following trade? Garland and Crede for Blalock, Danks, and Kinsler? Or should have I type that in green?
-
Do you think the Dodgers would trade ANDY LaROCHE, JONATHAN BROXTON, and RUSSELL MARTIN for Garland? Or some sort of combo like that? I would LOVE to have Andy LaRoche at 3B in the future at the Cell. Give me your opinions....
