  1. Just great #1 pick is sliding away, we got the Cubs hot so we have to hear about that s*** and the Brewers are losing.
  2. Not taking sides hear, but Wikipedia is har from a credible source. Trying using a medical website. Steriods Web MD might be a little more credible, try this.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) It will be interesting to see if all of these baseball juicers from the last decade start dropping dead in their 40s due to enlarged hearts, etc. ... like Ken Caminiti (sp?)
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Steff, you're a wrestling fan? -- Steroids in baseball? Try drugs in football. Football + wrestling have incredible death rates. Both have a lot of drugs, lots of bad guys, and both have brutal schedules and are brutal in and of themselves. Good point. I only metion baseball because that seems to be what our government is interested in. ...and baseball seems to be a common point of interest for us. When it comes to steriods in pro sports, I don't think we have even found the tip of the iceberg yet.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) The number of deaths among wrestlers are pretty astounding. Obviously none this crazy, but a ton have died at very young ages. It makes one wonder why the government is focusing on steriods in baseball, when pro wrestlers have been dying in their 30's and 40's at an alarming rate compared to the rest of the population. In perspective, this is not about a homerun record, people are dying.
  6. The steroids findings would seem to suggest the media is going to be licking its chops to beat up on professional wrestlling again. I have a feeling that what Vince McMahon and the WWE are about to endure will make the steriods trial of the 80's and the Owen Hart tragedy look small in comparison.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) I think a little piece of me will die of I go to that site. I think my computer is having an allergic reaction.
  8. Do the score people know how we feel about Mike North? Do they really think there is a chance in hell any of us would call that stroke's show for any reason?
  9. Admittedly, I am not much of a wrestling fan though I am familiar with Chris Benoit. Reading through this post, I was amazed by how quickly the tone went from "Prayers for his family" to "He's a bastard". We don't know exactly what happened here and we may never know the whole story. I am going to get on my soapbox for a moment and recall the early part of thread. It is not our place to make a judgment. That is the work of the Man we were all praying to in the beginning of the thread. At one time in history, churches refused to bury suicides. But as medical science and psychology gave us more insight, suicide was not really looked at in the same way. We do not know Benoit's mental health. All I am saying is that I would caution people to reserve judgment, because it is really not our place. It is God's.
  10. Reading through this whole thread, I can't figure out why Omar wasn't banned. ... at least not yet.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) Why does everyone want Baldelli? He plays as often as Pods. No thanks. I agree 100%. The one guy I might take from Tampa is crawford, and he is unattainable.
  12. Tampa's offer Rocco for Buehrle. I don't think it should be green, knowing Tampa's past demands, this might be realistic speculation.
  13. Sounds like the Sox want the opportunity to negotiate with him this fall even if it only is a token offer. I guess this could be good. I think an under the table offer is possible, though still very not legal.
  14. Early? A lot of other teams have apparently had it for a while.
  15. Our starters could end the season with ERA's under 3.00 and still have records like 5-15.
  16. We are an offensive Machine. And to think some here thought Terrero might have finally arrived and could be in next years plans...
  17. Boras has failed his clients too. If you will recall, he turned down a 4 year deal from the Cards for Jeff Weaver so Weaver could go and get a one year deal for less with the Mariners. Of course, the Kool-Aid Boras serves probably helped him tell Weaver this was a positive. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) Boras was looking to get into football about 5 or 6 years ago, but I don't think he ever did. Salary caps and lack of quarantees would probably drive him crazy. I seem to recall this too.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) As long as the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Cubs and to a lesser extent Angels, Tigers and Cards are willing to deal with you than you really are still a super agent. The bottom line is Boras clients typically are going to get major bucks and when that is the place the likely destination is inevitably to pretty much these places and these places only (with the rare exceptions such as the Mariners going heft for Adrian Beltre). Obviously not all the guys he reps are like that but the vast majority that he hard lines with are. The nice thing is that this off season, I don't see many of your listed teams spending big except the usual culprits (Yanks and Sawks). Cards have been crying poor the last few off seasons. Cubs have their hands tied somewhat with an impending sale. I don't see the Angels as needing to spend a ton of money. And just a hunch, the Tiger don't have a lot of holes and the are not going to go to Yankee level payroll. Borass may have some limits this off season. It will be really interesting to see what happens if ARod files. Speaking of which, are the Rangers abstainers from Boras clients since the Arod debacle? I can't think of any exceptions.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) I don't think any are as open with it but I know the Dodgers have been trending away from Boras clients in the recent years (since Ned Colletti took over). In the past the Dodgers were almost entirely repped by Boras (them and the Cubs probably have had the most Boras clients over the past 5-10 years). I would also imagine that quite a few other teams are far more opposed than the Sox openly admit when it comes to negotiating with Boras clients (pretty much most of the non 80 mill plus payroll teams). Interesting. If more teams besides the White Sox (and possibly Dodgers) were more opposed to Borass clients, he may have a more difficult time being the "super agent". Until then, the White Sox are missing an attractive portion of the market. ... Or his clients may be missing playing in a great situation.
  20. Some posts have implied, but I am curious. Are there any other teams openly opposed to dealing with Boras?
  21. I saw Brain Anderson's name pop up in a few post. I wonder if he might be a throw in to some trade since he has no future with the White Sox. I checked the Charlotte site and he played last night and is batting .241. I wonder if it is possible for Anderson to be packaged say ... with Buehrle in a trade.
