  1. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) Sox will not resign him and will say at least they tried speech! The quieter it is, the more I think you might be right.
  2. Compared to yesterday, it sure is quite here. I hate the suspense, get it done.
  3. I think the point here is that most of us would give Hall away for anything remotely decent, but definitely Patterson.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) ...don't mean to interupt--wait, that's exactly what I mean to do. I brought it up earlier and I was wondering if any of the minor league buffs could speak to my question...is Eric Patterson (2B Cubs) available via trade? If the Cubs are really planning to make a playoff push in 2007 (and all signs point towards the affirmative), would they have interest in a guy like Toby Hall to platoon with Bowen or an arm or two out of the bullpen? A year or two ago I wouldn't have even brought this up. However, it looks like the Sox and Cubs are now willing to deal with one another and I think both teams have pieces the other would be intersted in--especially considering the depth of the White Sox middle infield prospects is about as shallow as one of those plastic children's swimming pools. The Cubs have to be looking for another catcher. And I will would willing to dump "No Throw" Hall and finish the year with GusMo as our back up. I know he is injured, but Hall has shown no value. Maybe the Cubs would throw in a pitcher if we dumped Hall on them since their pitchers tend to develop well in our system.
  5. Cubs fans have a reputation for attacking relief pitcher (see Randy Myers) and opposing team coaches at White Sox games. Why is this shocking then for the unfriendly confines?
  6. Just speculating, but I wonder if Buehrle will ask for a no trade clause or limited no trade clause (ie, Buehrle can only be traded to teams in St. Louis). If I were him and had a child on the way, I wouldn't blame him for wanting to stay in one place. I believe the "Trade and Sign" stuff is just Soxtalk speculation, but White Sox generally do not have a problem at least giving limited no trade clauses.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:10 AM) Offman is still predicting that a deal is done by tomorrow morning, while Levine is reporting about the agent/Hahn meeting today, but nothing is imminent. It's comical to hear Offman state though that the only thing they were saying yesterday is that intermediaries have been talking for a while, and they have an idea about what type of money they're looking for. I am amazed the Offman still has a job after losing most of his credibility yesterday. Joseph Stalin would have had Offman taken outside and side for bad intelligence.
  8. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:14 AM) So much for Guillen being on the hot seat by the way he seems to be confronting KW head on with this. Let me throw this conspiracy theory out there, do you think this is Guillen and Reinsdorf trumping KW or nudging him toward signing Buerhle? Could Vazquez be the KW guy that Guillen has tired of who now will be moved to rebuild? Hey, I like soap operas. I gotta tell ya I like that Gonzalez kid at least today I do. How bad of an infielder is he that Cintron and Uribe are getting at-bats. Juan Uribe should be arrested not for shooting flares at the Italian Navy but for armed robbery of the White Sox, Mackowiak and Cintron could be as well. Those 8th inning at-bats by Uribe and Mackowiak made my eyes hurt. I was kind of thinking along these lines too. Guillen probably doesn't want to see his best "horse" gone. In this bad year, Buehrle's and Garland's starts have seemed to be the only winnable ones. I disagree with your point on Javy. As evident by the fact that they are trying to trade him, I think Count has fallen out of favor. I made this point about Gonzo yester in that other thread. We are going to be replacing both middle infielders next year in all liklihood. 2B is Gonzo's natural position, but why not give him some (or a lot) of starts at either 2B or SS. If Iguchi or Uribe is traded, I think Gonzo might see some action there.
  9. Thanks for the memories ... Jose Your friend, Greg the Bull
  10. We found a team we can handle. Hooray! Usually we go to Tampa and lose 2 of 3.
  11. I don't like the secrecy and rumors about this Buehrle situation. The White Sox are like part of the family to me and this is driving nuts. I am going into hibernation until we have a solution. Defrost me when it is over.
  12. ... but I am reading on that other White Sox site that PTI said it is a done deal.
  13. I strongly "dislike" the Score.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) According to Ed Farmer Mark Buehrle says "nothing is going on." Game. Set. Match.
  15. Good to know Citron can't pinch hit tonight. Side note, should we see Gonzo at short and 2B some time? Those are his NATURAL positions and I suspect we will have openings there next year.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) Crede may never play baseball again, at least not competitive enough to warrant moving the future of your franchise to showcase trade bait. Fields wont play LF. Take it for what you will, but KW has a knack for dumping players passed their best health/prime. This will be further demonstrated when Dye is traded.
  17. Slightly off topic, but since the pregame will coming on the Score soon, I wonder if they will mention it in the pregame. Maybe even Farmio and the mute will say something about it.
  18. QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) SI is citing "people familiar with the situation" as their source. So, that's this message board, right? Of course, haven't you absorbed all the knowledge in this thread yet? If somebody said they were going to make an announcement at X time, I would have les difficulty taking this as anything more the scuttlebutt.
  19. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) Breaking News... Mark Buerhle reportedly has signed a 7-year / $140mm extension with the White Sox. Buerhle immediately stated that he would have accepted the original 4yr/$50mm extension originally discussed but he made the White Sox up their offer so he could donate the additional $90mm to the Save the Prairie Dog organization. "I just think they are so cute" said Buerhle. Buerhle also required that a Prairie Dog habitat be maintained in the Sox Bullpen and that 25% of the "SoxSplit" raffle go towards the organization. I thought for sure MB would have asked the Sox to up their offer after reading some of the rubbish in this thread.
  20. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) I'm starting to think that this thread should be locked until we get some updates about the current situation and not Buehrle's lifestyle or whatever the hell you are all discussing. Or we can flip the lights on and off like and substitute teacher until we have everybody attention again.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) I'd assume after the game. Still, I believe 1000 at the moment. Yeah, that is kind of my guess too. I mean i hate to take away from all this off topic banter and actually discuss the topic
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) Just for the record WSCR is sticking by their story. I'd be curious as to when Offman thinks there is going to be an official announcement since he is still sticking to it.
  23. The Dodgers farms systems are loaded. A B level prospect in their system would move the front of our pack quickly. I hope Dye gets hot and gets easy to trade.
  24. Well it did not take long for this thread to go from euphoria to petty name calling. Congratulations!
