QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 06:12 PM) The Radio just said that Dye worked out today, and is shooting for a Monday return. I would have rather seen him traded about two weeks ago, maybe earlier. -
QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) MP- Royce Ring 0-0 1.50ERA MP- Damaso Marte 0-0 1.93ERA MP- Matt Guerier 1-3 1.85ERA MP- David Riske 1-2 2.48ERA, 3 Saves MP- Jon Rauch 3-2 4.22ERA, 3 Saves MP- Bobby Howry 5-4 4.19ERA, 2 Saves CP- Tom Gordon 1-1 4.82ERA, 5 Saves Wow, that's a nice bullpen. I know a team that could use a bullpen like that.

If only the rest of the season could get rained out. -
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) Craigslist is better than any of that s***. You can go directly to the person's home and pick up the tickets. Won't get lost in the mail that way. That one is interesting, never used that one before.

A lot of closet Brewer fans here for various reasons, and many of us have been using the catch all MLB thread to voice our thoughts. With the Brewers leading the Cubs 7-2 in the third, I think it is time for SoxTalk members to officially endorse the Brewers as their team of choice to win the NL Central and keep the Cubs out of the playoffs. And if we get this thread rolling, maybe we can get the Mods to pin it like they did with the Tiger and Twin threads last year. Go Brewers!

What are the odds that some new shred of news come up before the end of the day that gives a glimmer of hope and drags this on so Buehrle's next start is a sell out? I say 3-1 odds.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) What he said. Thirded.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) We don't sign big free agents and we won't spend money on draft picks. So where the f*** do they expect to compete from? Trading our farm system for veterans that are past their prime.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Yes well he doesn't do much if any of the contract stuff anyways, you knew that, yes? It is Hahn, and then Dennis Gilbert on the really tricky ones and a couple other behind the scenes guys they have managing the money, like Howard Pizer. Reinsdorf if it's a really complex thing. But again, refering to my original post, Mr. Reinsdorf has overstepped all of them in the past when they were busy tripping over their feet.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 10:19 AM) One more thing....if we're not willing to make this deal happen for Buehrle, you might as well go ahead and trade Garland then. He's going to want/get in the 14 million dollar range also, and I'm sure he'll want a NTC. At this point, you are right; ake this team the Chicago Expos. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 10:16 AM) I agree. Williams should be fired. Whatever the goal of this fiasco was, it was handled incompetently. ANy credibility KW had as a negotiator is shot to hell. Mr. Reinsdorf had to save the Konerko signing. I can't think of ONE signing that has done well for KW. Ambulance chasing like Erstad does not count.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) So let's see, signing Iguchi as a free agent, and having him have a good rookie season was an accident? Getting A.J Pierzynski to fill our catcher need was an accident? KW made a lot of shrewd moves that off-season (and yes the Lee for Podsednik deal looks bad right now, but it helped us to win the world series so I'll always be thankful for that). As for the Jon Adkins, well is Gio Gonzalez and Gavin Floyd going to be Jon Adkins? You think Philly would like to have those 2 back now for Freddy Garcia wouldn't you? Even the Cubs look smart once in a while.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 09:54 AM) An accident? C'mon dude, we won the world series because we were the best team in 2005. We had the best starting pitching etc., and we swept the final series. Let me clarify, a good team was put together by accident since KW is all for collection the Jon Adkins of the world. The team playing well was not an accident.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) Anyone else think that they have to trade him prior to Monday night now? When's Floyd's next start supposed to be? I have tickets Monday, I would love to organize a walk out right after Buehrle takes the mound or something.
-
Now that the article is on MLB.com, I am pretty convinced that this is not a publicity stunt any more. Sad Story
-
Aside from winning its first world series in 88 years, which I think more and more I was an accident, this organization could be better run by a pair of flying monkeys. Mr. Reinsdorf needs to step in and save his organization like he did with signing Konerko.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) If this makes you feel better, there's very little any GM could do over the next few years to get us back into the playoffs. IF we are basing that on the current White Sox situation, you are absolutely right. But somebody put us in this hole, and left us with empty minor leagues.

White Sox vs. Royals, 6/29/07 (L)

IMO, This game is symbolic of the next several years of White Sox baseball. A Royal Ass Whipping. -
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) I have a feeling KW is gonna be the Jerry Krause of baseball. We saw what Krause did with the Bulls after they dismantled that team. I think that is what we are gonna get with KW. Mr. Reinsdorf is a business man. And if we go from 50+ sellouts to a sea of empty seats in two years, I don't he will endorse KW any longer. The Bulls still sold some tickets during the dry years. The Cell will be empty is dry years are coming.
-
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) It's all been bulls***. This whole f***ing situation has been nothing but bulls***. I have no faith in KW if we go into a full rebuilding mode. Which is what we need to do. KW only has two years on his contract. Then maybe the return of Dombrowski
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) Come on guys the whole MB saga is pure Green Eggs and Ham on the fans. That's why I don't feel so good.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) KW would be wise If someone wants JC trade him ASAP. Even if it means Single A prospects. Jose might even do well in the NL. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) I'm not sure I buy it, either. So because some guy posted, "Torpedo Joe" (or whatever the f*** he called him) "says they rejected the deal" everybody's believing? I'll wait and see what they say in the paper. If I knew what Taligeter Jow meant, I would get even more pissed. This is why I hate WSI.
