If the Sox were serious about signing Buehrle, Mr. Reinsdorf would have had to handle negotiations like he did with Konerko. KW has yet to sign a significant. Hetrades people two or three times, and some he has traded only to trade back for. I have no confidence in Kenny trading Buehrle which is what really pisses me off. This whole signing thing was all for show.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) If this was KW's plan, it's going to backfire on him big time. I had a feeling this might be happening when they made it public that Hahn was going to Tampa. Which should make Soxfest very entertaining when the Sox have the fourth highest ticket values in baseball and field Konerko, Thome, and the Triple A never-will-be's again next year. -

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) I think all this speculation about trade talks was bulls***. It was just for the fans, to show that KW and JR tried to sign MB, and now we will part ways, and paint MB to be the greedy money hungry athlete. Typical Whitesox. It would be nice if this organization signed it own once in a while, particularly since our minor league system is only used for growing tumbleweeds. -
When a major news media reports this story, then I can go from pissed to ultra pissed.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) After the Cubs game today and the news coming out in the paper tomorrow about no deal with Buehrle, it's not a fun time right now. Anybody know where George Ofman lives? -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Even if you don't re-sign Buehrle you still need to deal away the $20M albatross. He's going to give you nothing over the next 2 years, keeping him will not help make up for the loss of Buehrle. Luckily I think KW knows this. Change "think" to "hope". We know our GM lusts for overpriced, past their prime veterans, but that may only include ones that don't play for him. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) Yep, that's just super. As Phil Rogers so wisely puts it, we're a year away from our back end of the rotation becoming the front end. Contreras will never put up an ERA under 4.75 again...his stuff is just too mediocre. Don't usually agree with PR, but even he could see what our genuis GM is up to. -
If the rumor is true, I guess we are stuck with Contrares, because I doubt we are trading 2 starters.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) I've seen some impressive feats this year, but leaving a starting pitcher in the game 4 batters too long might top the list. I don't care if they win or lose right now, but Ozzie leaving Contreras in to die is just f***ing retarded with regards to his trade value. I don't think Count's is being traded anymore according to the latest Buehrle rumors. -
WSI is almost as reliable as the Score.

Is WCIU the JV braodcasting team? Speaking of which, calling our offense JV, would be an insult to many high school kids. -

The 4th inning is precisely why I will not miss Contrares when he is gone. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) More hops to 2nd than a pogo stick. Love the new avatar Soxfan1 If the batting order was last year with 2 automatic outs at the bottom, how much does it suck to have Uribe, Pods, and Gonzo all in row with Mackowiak just ahead of them. This line up is embarassing. Is Pods batting over .270 only because he has not had enough at-bats yet? -

If she had pupils in both eyes in that picture (making her look not so in need of an exorcism), she would look hot. My compliments to her doctor on the rack. Viewing the second picture, she must have got those in Kingdome Size.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Did you see the new tits that Jodie Sweetin bought with her meth money? That rack will be especially helpful in drawing attention away from her mouth after all of the meth has caused her teeth to fall out. Back more toward topic; Anybody aware of any players that might be coming from Japan next year that might interest the Sox? Like the White Sox, I generally don't follow baseball over there.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) Who the heck is this Fontenot guy? Why doesn't he ever make an out? he hit .260 in the minor and now he is hitting .400 for the Cubs. Reality will being him back. Remember when Uribe hit .360 in this first month with the White Sox. -

Remember, God hates the Cubs. The only question is, what cruel joke will God play on the Cubs and their fans this year? -
Just curious if anybody here has had any positive experiences in purchases concert tickets through ticketbrokers. Would anybody care to recommend a good one? I am sort of nervous about buying through a ticketbroker because I am not sure what backs up the purchase say ... if the tickets get lost in the mail. I just want to make sure I get my money's worth.

Milton Bradley DFA'ed by A's

It now appears our friend Milton Bradley is heading to the Padres. The Padres are collecting all the team cancers; First Barrett, now Bradley, next Jose Panyagua? Story -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) Konerko did not take less money. (near the bottom of the page. ... Interesting. So his contract offer from the Orioles was higher, but he would have taken less money home after taxes. OT, I wonder how often that comes into play in contracts? No wonder the state of Illinois has a $ problem, we tax athletes half as much as anybody else.
