  1. If it is that bleak, let players walk and buy out options and we can rebuild through free agency and the draft. WE DO NOT HAVE TO TRADE ANYBODY IF WE ARE NOT GETTING WHAT WE WANT.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Milledge, Ichiro, Sweeney That would A) Win Games B ) Sell tickets and C) Make Soxtalk a happy place again.
  3. I will go on record as saying that I would love to get Milledge. That could potentially fill one of three outfield openings for next year.
  4. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) You use the term "pinch hitter" like he is actually capable of hitting. How about Pinch Out Maker?
  5. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) I think everyone is on the block. except Mack and Cintron, we cant afford to lose to prized players like that. Yes. If we trade Cintron, who will be our pinch hitter?
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) Lets see here. The Mets have a pretty good rotation now. But I don't think you could count on Duque holding up for the whole season. Also, I don't think they can count on Sosa for the rest of the season either, he seems like a better fit for the pen/spot starter. Perez, I like him a lot but he is streaky. Glavine right now in his career is mediocre but has that experience. Maine is young as well. So yeah, they could really use another experienced starter in there. With Pedro returning soon, that should help, but you can't expect him to be lights out or even stay healthy though. Best option for the Mets, IMO, would be to put Sosa in the pen, plug Contreras into the rotation, and when Pedro returns you put Duque in the pen as well. I believe I read somewhere that Pedro may not be back this year and Glavine and Duque have been less than solid.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:34 PM) I'd do Contreras straight up for B level prospect and to be honest, I think that's what we should expect in return. That would work too, just as long as the Mets don't try to give us back Jon Adkins cuz I thinks Adkins is still a Met.
  8. As much as I like the city of Cincinnati, he should have never left Seattle.
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:26 PM) Contreras and and cash considerations for either Martinez or Gomez... get it done KW! I am not sure that we do this straight up for one minor leaguer. But if it is an A level prospect and a C level prospect or player to be named later, I still might do cartwheels.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) Look, all I'm saying is this; we have at least 5 or 6 guys who we keep talking about moving this season, at least 2 or 3 of which could command top talent in return. We don't have to make a move on any of them. If MB and JD walk, we get 4 more top 50 or so draft picks next year. Yes, it'll take a couple years for those picks to mean anything, but if everything falls apart and we wind up going that route, then we have 5 top picks next year, including one in the top 5, probably another top 5 pick in 09, and then suddenly our minor leagues might look a lot more like Detroit's. Can we post this like at the top of Trade Winds of somewhere visible to help the uninformed.
  11. Not sure what the good news is other than the Red Sawk fans don't want to give up s*** for Buehrle. Oh well, don't think I could stomach Buehrle in a Sawks uniform anyway.
  12. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 10:15 AM) What GM hasn't? He won a title, which is the goal. So shut up. Maybe you can name call too, instead of trying to make an intelligent point.
  13. Wemay actually have to get JD in the line up to be scouted for this to happen. Again, I state my "Weekend at Bernie's" idea.
  14. The Brewers do have a surplus of outfielders. They just had to send TOny Gwynn Jr. to Triple A because he was not getting enough playing time. Of course, the crowding in their outfield is easier fixed by dumping Jenkins and Mench.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Cool...we can continue to play with a 24 man roster. This is where I have a serious problem with management. Not that calling Sweeney up would have won the game yesterday, but wouldn't we have had a better chance without AGon making 3-4 easy outs?
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 08:31 AM) So you're suggesting we hang onto the Contreras and bear the risk of his velocity decreasing, and his numbers getting worse with that contract on our books? To put it plainly, Hell no. Sorry if I mislead you. Sell to the first buyer.
  17. While I see a Count trade being more like a salary dump in tha we won't get much back, I think Count might thrive in a weaking hitting national league and make KW look stupid again.
  18. KW has failed a number of times, but this artcile seems to have missed many of them. KW didn't fill holes despite all the sellouts and ratings, but the Freddy dump most of us support.
  19. It would be interesting to see how Fields hits with the people around him hitting and people on base for him.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) There's no point in the arguing this anymore. Greg Walker has one job, and the results from his job are terrible this year. ... unless we get an audience with Kenny Williams.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) If he was dealing with real talent on this team then I would say you were right. However, when you have bench players and rookies all over the place it is hard to blame the hitting coach. Get some players in here that actually play the game the way it supposed to be played and get the same results - then I will be on your side. Until then I will blame the players. Thome, Konerko, A.J., Dye, and Iguchi do not qualify as real talent?
  22. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Someone one WSI said something about his wife being pregnant. Not sure that is true or not and he did not say that was the reason. Ya, let me explain that. Greg the Bull had a one time thing, and low and behold ...
