Jacque Jones to Floridaaaaa
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to palehose23's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 09:06 AM) The Sox don't need a CF -- Erstad is penciled in for the next 3 years on KW's big board. I hope you are not trying to be funny because this is terrifying and false. -

The Royals are really trying not to finish in last place this year, and the Sox are not doing anything to hurt those chances. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 07:42 AM) The worst thing is that Jones has another year left on his deal. I have so little faith in KW right now to do the right thing. Ding Ding Ding! If we are going to suck, lets do it the right way and just all out suck. Don't get players that slightly improve us or fit in to an already suck ass line up. -

With the theme of Evan Almighty in mind, Keep Raining ... at least just over the Cell. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) Pods Injured. What, too soon? This could be like Clue; 2nd inning, baseball to the head, in leftfield.

Right or wrong, I am not sure it is the right time for this.

This almost assures we will be picking higher than KC in next year's draft. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) I say there's a 75% chance at this point that KW just rides the year out with Buehrle at the top of the rotation and takes his compensatory picks. I am starting to lean this way. Unless something bowls Kenny over (like Texas did in the McCarthy trade) I think Buehrle finishes the year with the Sox. If we are getting all or most of the facts right here, I don't think anybody is bowling Kenny over. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) On a separate note - I would much rather have KG than Bryant. Me too.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) He and Shaffer have never really gotten along from what I have been told. It is common for a GM to want his own people and Shaffer was a long time Sox guy, tight with Schueler. If this is true, one has to wonder why KW did not make this move sooner. It is not as though KW is above hurting feelings.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) At least there is some good news today. Better news would be that he owes back pay for some of the miserable draft picks.

QUOTE(ROC Sox Fan @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) This season f***ing sucks. I'm thinking about using my MLB.tv subscription to just hop on some National League team's bandwagon for the rest of the season so I can actually enjoy watching a baseball game. Those Rockies are sure looking good. Saw the Brewers, that team is fun to watch. ... and they just happen to be 8 games up on the Cubs

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Too bad the Sox probably won't sign Zambrano in the offseason. Not only would he be their best pitcher, he'd be their best RH hitter off the bench. Heck, they'd be better of DH'ing him against lefties on days he's not pitching. Instead we are going to go out and trade for the next Todd Ritchie.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) I turned the game off after the Cubs scored their rhird run. That's the first time I turned off the game early all season. I can't even remember when the last time was I turned off the game early because of disgust---probably back in '04. This is eventually going to be like 94 for many of us, when he discover other things to do in the summer besdes baseball. Even with tickets, I can't see paying for parking etc to watch this team.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) Why hasn't Ozzie even gone out there and said a word to the ump? GET OFF YOUR LAZY FAT ASS. Ozzie was probably too busy turned around looking up in the stands like he seems to be 1/3 of the game. Can't blame him, probably was some nice looking girls in bikini tops. -
Glad I didn't watch, this team blows.

Part of our problem is that our entire starting outfield this year is made of glass. Erstad's injuries are well documented in this thread already. It is easy to forget the Pods is a member of this team with how long he has been on the DL the last two years. He was even on the DL in 2005. Dye has been running like he is pulling a piano in the outfield and on the bases. His knee problems have not landed him on the DL ... yet. When 1/3 of you line up is hurting or on the DL, how can you expect to win? Who in their right mind expected all three of these guys to be healthy the whole year?

I would have had a lot more respect for the Bears if they dumped this clown last year. -

Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to kapkomet's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Since the season is effectively over, if we only win three games the rest of the year, let's help out the Brewers and win these next three. -
Finally our scapegoat!

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I thought it was interesting that this Suntimes article seems to suggest all starters are available except Danks. THE LINK If we are dumping Buehrle, I would at least like to think we are keeping Garland so our rotation for next year is not set up to be worst in baseball for years to come. -
2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to greasywheels121's topic in The Diamond Club
I read that that Sox former manager The Scarecrow may be up for the O's job now that Girardi turned it down. Manual has been rejected a few times already so this may be one of his last chances. -

Mets Interested in Buehrle?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to DBAHO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) I don't think Minaya's going to give us what we'd want for Buehrle and so it won't be worth it. Magic 8-ball says All Signs Point to Yes. -
Mets Interested in Buehrle?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to DBAHO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Supposedly Minaya said he will not give up Milledge or Gomez in a Buerhle deal. The last thing I want KW to do is lower his asking price. If he comes down now, he sets a president for the future. On a related note, wouldn't it be much easier if he just resigned Buehrle? -
White Sox Relievers in Demand?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to DBAHO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) I'd trade him for anything right now in order to get out of the 20 million we'll owe him for the next two years. His fastball has lost about 5 mph, and his forkball is nowhere near the plus-plus pitch it used to be. The Mariners are looking for starters, and I'd trade Contreras for Jeff Clement in a heartbeat. I'd been happy with a few mid level prospects just to dump his salary. We could finish the year with Floyd in his spot in the rotation assuming Floyd is not already filling Buehrle's spot. Strangely, I see KW's man crush on Jeff Waever coming up in any talks with the M's.
