  1. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) Seems to be a new low point each day. oh, I think the bar is still pretty high. Wait til you see where we are headed.
  2. I wish Rowand would have hit that homer off of Grandpa Contrares yesterday instead.
  3. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) yea my dad and i were going to go to the philly series then drive down to pittsburgh. im going to pitt too, where are your seats? LOL, We had this discussion via PM a few weeks back, remember?
  4. I am glad I decided not to go to the Philly series. Too bad I have tickets for Pitt.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) Why does it matter. Anything worth that pick is represented by Boras. We could get the same pick at 25 that we will get at 1 or 2 based on the devil representing anything good. Dammit SSI, you ruined my optimism.
  6. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) would you rather have... 3B= Fields LF= Mackowiak CF= Owens/Terrero or 3B= Mackowiak LF= Terrero/Fields CF= Owens (when healthy) To quote another poster, "This is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic."
  7. If it wasn't for those dam Nationals, I'd say we are well on our way that #1 pick next year.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) At least I found the only manager worse than Ozzie....the National League Ozzie. This is interleague Ozzie. WE can only hope that one day there is National League Ozzie.
  9. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) here comes a famous jerry owens out- a soft line out to 2B Its better than looking at a third strike
  10. Unanswerable questions: 1. Can God make a rock so big even he can't lift it? 2. Is our bullpen so bad that they could make our offense look like good hitters?
  11. Robert Valido, who some of us once had hope for as the SS of the future, is hitting .165 at Charlotte. Not that he was being discussed in this thread, but let's eliminate him before anybody gets an idea.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 06:36 AM) After watching Contreras pitch yesterday, this might be happening really soon... just a sneaking suspicion. It would be even we could unload Contreras before opening day 2008. I have my doubts that Ozzie would demote one of his vets from the starting rotation unless he was averaging 2 innings a start with a 7.00+ ERA. I could be a painful long while before we see a change but I hope you are right.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) I don't get your logic. Anyone trading with Kenny or any other GM should have the player take a physical. If he is shopping Jose Contreras and the Phillies want him I am sure they will have him do a physical this time before the trade is completed. If this GM or any other GM goes to the press about something like this he will look just as dumb and incompetent as the Blue Jays GM did. This does not fall on KWs shoulders - this is totally on the shoulders of the Phill's GM. If the tables were turned you would be asking for KW's head because he was so damn stupid to not have a physical done. You and Big Dick Allen have strange ways of thinking. Again, I have no problem with KW. It is the preception of other GM's since we can not trade with ourselves.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) Nope -- you only forfeit it if the pick is #16 or lower (ie 16-30). We might lose our second rounder, but not our first. IF true, this is exciting news since I suspect we will have a top 5 pick next year.
  15. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 06:13 AM) http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10221427 Are there White Sox hitters (like Texeira) that are refusing to change their approach in defiance of KW and Ozzie? I would like to think that if this was the case, Ozzie would "throw them in front of the bus." But since sensitivity training and the Mariotti thing, Ozzie really has not called players out in the press besides easy targets (Sean Tracey, Brian Anderson, etc). Either way, losing tends to bring out the worst aspects of the team in the press. These flaws would be airbrushed over if the Sox were winning. At this point, this is speculation.
  16. Alright, I Concede Detroit is better than the White Sox.
  17. Dam, I missed an entertaining game thread. Sound have turn ooff the game and stayed here.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) How did he "pull a fast one"???? Sox fans could see something was wrong with Freddy, yet the Philadelphia organization, the organization that will be paying Freddy 10MIL this season, decided not to administer a physical. If you are going to make that sort of investment on someone/something, why wouldn't you take every avenue to make sure of his health???? Just seems like a lazy move by Philly. Again, I have no disagreement with this argument. My concern is forming of the perception of "Fast Kenny" dumping tired and broken pitchers on teams. So if KW tries to shop Jose this winter, I suspect he need not even call Philly. Even though Philly should have ordered the physical, the Philly GM can try and go to the press make KW look bad/get sympathy because he got a broken Freddy Garcia. If the networks like say ...ESPN, run with it, it could damage our ability to trade in the future.
  19. ... it was a year ago about this time that Jose stopping being a dominant pitcher and ... started sucking.
  20. Didn't take long for the optimism to go away for this game.
  21. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) 2004...? Dude, lay off the ganj... I prefer the 2005 season myself, maybe your memory is blurred from too much ...
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) So it's Kenny's fault that Philly was too stupid to have him take a physical or an MRI? We all saw last season that his MPH was down much more than anybody else on the Sox -- for Philly not to force Freddy to take a physical is just stupidity. While I have no argument with what you say, Dick Allen is right. This could be the 2nd time KW has traded damaged goods on a team. How do you think that makes other GM's feel when their phone rings and it is trader Kenny. No doubt Kenny has made a lot of very fair trades, but that will not be what people remember when if the Philly GM starts saying KW pulled a fast one on him.
  23. With the assumption that the Phils will not resign him and he has thrown his last pitch for the Phils, the Freddy Garcia trade reminds me of the Mike Sirotka trade. Way to make another enemy Kenny!
  24. I miss the glory days when watching this team was not painful. Still, I love this team.
