Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
^^^^^^^^^^ The Contrares comment is interesting. It seems to imply that he would be willing to accept a trade. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) You just get the feeling that a lot of people are going to be really disappointed at the actual players we acquire in a trade compared with the ludicrous proposals we see. I fear more Jon Adkins types are heading are way. I think the only reason the fire sale has not begun is because no team is desperate enough to give what Kenny wants. -
Hopefully they teach him to take the bat off of his shoulder and swing in Triple A.

And That's A White Sox Loser
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the point of a fire sale is not so much to improve the team this year as to get some of these guys out of here, load up on prospects, and make room for next year's new acquisitions. Nothing could fix this s*** heep of a team. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) Juan Uribe is a human pile of waste. Even when he hits for the first time in a month, he can't field. But since he is one of Ozzie's boys, Ozzie will defend him at the press conference even though Uribe's mistakes were just as evident as Iguchi, Iguchi gets called out in the pc yesterday. Ozzie needs to have some balls and bench players that don't have their head in the game like Bobby Cox did with Andruw Jones -
For what it's worth, I would rather have Cleveland win the division and go to the playoffs than Detroit. Its not so much that I like Cleveland as that I dislike Detroit (since the Bulls v. Pistons days) that much more.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) He was great until he got nailed in the face. Now that you say that, I kind of remember that. I also remember that he was a real Cub killer back in his day with the Pads and Astros.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) Dickie Thon turns 49 today BTW ... One of the great names in baseball.

For what it's worth, per Trib ... I like to hear that the Devil Rays were here, though I do not suspect that we will be getting what we all want. -
White Sox vs. Marlins, 6/20/07 (L)

I'll be there. We have a good starter going. I am curious as to what creative way we might find to lose this game. -

Like Mariotti, Does Phil Roger read Soxtalk too? Click Here! Can't say I disagree, nor would most of us. -
The Padres are one of my favorite NL teams (cicra 1984), so I hate having them acquire a defensively retarded catcher. Yuck!

Ozzie's continued mishandling of the bullpen is making it hard for me to like him.

White Sox vs. Marlins, 6/19/07 (L)

... We have a chance in this game because neither Javy or Jose are starting. With a little luck, McDougal will not see action. -
After coming back this weekend, I am going to rank PNC ahead of Miller Park on my list. Aside from Wrigley, I am going to cast a vote against Jacobs Field. I was there last night. First, I thought everything in the park was dirty and poorly maintained. If the national media complains about the neighborhood the Cell is in, why are they not bothered by the crumbling buildings around Jacobs Field. The new Hall of Fame plaza did add some historical perspective to a park that was lacking it. Maybe a good cleaning and some renovations would change my mind about the Jake.

The Harry S. Truman Presidental Library is not far off if you are a history person.

If and when the original outfield returns (Pods, Erstad, Dye), I like we may see less of Terrero until one of the three is traded. Ideally, this would give Terraro the opportunity to audition for next year unless we acquire an outfielder in the trade. I think we all want to see what Terrero because he is cheap and reasonably young. Maybe we need to start a Terrero support thread or maybe not since KW and Ozzie seems to read our ideas and go against them.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) DITCH THE WALK Doesn't U2 have a song "Walk On". That could be the firing theme song. -
Trib said he could return this weekend.

Who are some options for us at SS in 2008

Realistically, Wilson and Uribe are a wash. Replacing Uribe with Wilson would be lateral movement at best unless Wilson returns to 2004 form. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) The Dodgers just fired Eddy Murray their hitting coach. I wonder why they did that, because hitting coaches dont do anything and pretty much only benefit a team. They have veteran hitters who know how to hit. He had success last year as they lead the NL in on base percentage and hit .276. Dont they flip their baseball cards and see what it says last year. Maybe he didnt inform him about the perfect storm. So it must be a mistake that they fired him. How can they fire him. He doesnt do anything. This is Murray's second time getting fired mid season as a hitting coach. If you are reading KW, I am going to recommend we not replace Murray with Walker. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) Who was the last Sox prospect to come up and immediately contribute (hitting) for an extended period of time? Does it count if when he came up, it was with another team? If not, I think we have to go back to Maggs/C Lee/Jeff Abbott Era QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 01:20 PM) Fields has a swing that needs some work. But who exactly in the minors is going to help him. If he is doing well and hitting well against the IL then what exactly do you think is the benefit of keeping him down there. We need to fire Walker, get a new hitting coach that can start with our young ins and help them out. I want to see Fields with either some repairs with his swing, or him figured out as a bust. But I dont want to see Mack at 3rd with Gonzales because we are afraid of seeing what we have. I would have loved to have seen what Walt Hrniak would of done with Brian Anderson has year. All of our prospects have the same hole in their swing when they come up. Its not being fixed in the minors, and still they are doing well. Bring them up here, let them take their lumps this year while the season isnt on the line and move forward. I would rather they learn how to hit this year, then in a year when we are playing for something. I have said this before in other posts, I would love to see the Sox bring Walt Hriniak out of the cobwebs. It shouldn't be shocking if a prospect is not hitting here if they were not tearing it up in the minors. That said, our hitting mentality needs some re-thinking. -

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) After yesterday, the Sox are no longer just the lowest scoring team in the AL. They've undertaken the Nats to become the lowest-scoring team in all of baseball. Today major league baseball. Tomorrow, the world! -
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) Apparently Buster Olney wrote an article today mentioning the DBacks as a good trading partner for Dye. He suggested players such as Alberto Callaspo (who was mentioned before), Mark Reynolds, and Scott Hairston. As we know, the DBacks are extremely stacked with young players, so they would be an intriguing possibility. While I personally have little interest in Callaspo and Hairston, Mark Reynolds is a very solid looking young player. Olney also mentions Micah Owings, who would be an excellent addition, but is probably asking a bit too much. I don't have Insider, but here is the link to the reference to the article on mlbtraderumors.com: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ What does everyone think about a possible deal with the Diamondbacks? Did the author really need to be so nasty as to point out that the D-backs won't be giving back Chris Young?
