Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) If we trade for Adam Dunn I will go over to Kenny Williams house and take a poop in his mailbox. Not that I would wish you the unpleasantness, but I hope you have diarrhea when you exact this revenge. -
Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Story White Sox scouts in Cincinnati, though I suspect it is not to scout Adam Dunn as the story suggests. The Reds and White Sox are both sellers, so is a three-way deal in the works? Or should the mods re-open GriffeyTalk.com? -
Who are some options for us at SS in 2008
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Speculation in Pitt that Pirates SS Jack Wilson could be available LINK Don't shoot the messager, but we do have a nice history of making trades with these guys. -
I Had Fun at Wrigley Field
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in The Diamond Club
Pratt, I really thought you were going to reveal yourself as the guy who killed the ivy a few years ago at Wrigley. Were it not for the park and the fans (what else is there?), going to a CUbs game would not be bad. ... My wife's school went to the Cubs-Brewers game in the spring and I she got all dressed up in Brewers stuff for the game before meeting me at the Cell that evening for an actual baseball experience. I like the Brewers because they are not the Cubs. -
A Clue as to How Ozzie Feels
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I thought for sure you were going to reference Ozzie's Sept 2005 slide with that stuff about throwing up before/after games because of pressure. ... Myself I usually throw up during games with the heaviest flow coming when Ozzie goes to the bullpen. -
Media Starting on Ozzie Deathwatch...

If nothing else, hopefully this lights a fire under Ozzie's ass and gets him to THINK before he makes certain moves. (ie Citron at 3B) -
Mark Buehrle and the Cardinals

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) 0-8, 6+ ERA. He blows. ... He fits right in with this year's club though -

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Yep. A college teammate of Mark Prior. Reyes has a 6.08 ERA this season. I think it's time to stop acquiring pitchers for Cooper to "fix". On the other hand, I doubt that the Sox could do better for Buehrle than getting Reyes and another B prospect. I think people here are in for a big disappointment in the return Buehrle brings. Speaking of Prior, I bet he and Wood will be available next season and ready to thrive away from the Cub organization. -
How much do we ship off?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to daa84's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Again, I think the bottom line here is not willingness to sell so much as getting the right package of players in return for the whomever we trade. Take 1997 for instance. We sent three pitchers in the final year of their contract to San Francisco. You don't have to count Danny Darwin if you don't want since he his arm was about to fall off from old age. In return, we built a bullpen for the next several years and won a division title. With starting pitching and clutch hitting in the playoffs, we might have gone somewhere that year. Had we not rushed him, we MAY have even had a solid SS for the net several years. With many of these current Sox, the key is not just to dump salary but get something good in return. There are not going to be many sellers on the market, and we have some of the better merchandise. -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) I think we should just keep it going until the Sox reach .500, lol. Shameless Bump. Pin the Loser Thread

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) I keep Buehrle and re-sign him. I trade away Contreras, Dye, Iguchi. If I can get a proven great veteran I will trade prospects to get him and I would give a lot of them. Fields and Gio are not untouchable to me. A lot of us are trying to trade Contreras. What are the odds that he waves his no trade clause? QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) my point with thome is that his peak trade value is right now....the problem trading dye is taht we waited until 1.) he declined and 2.) he got to a contract year.....if we can jump the gun on jimmys decline (which at age 37 is sooner rather than later) and deal him before his trade value decreases due to contract situation...i think it may become advisable dont get me wrong, i love thome, his .450 obp and 1.000 + OPS, but if we can get a good young package for him you have to think about it IF Thome waves the no trade clause and we had the right offer, I would not hesitate to trade him. -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) i guess my question is how much of the current 08 core would you be willing to give up (contreras, garland, vazquez, thome, konerko, AJ etc.) .... we all knwo buerhle dye and iguchi wont be around next year anyways...but is anyone willing to pull an 02 cleveland indians type rebuild? I mean i wouldn't be against trading thome. Realistically are we gonna contend in 08 with all the holes we have to fill? If the answer is no, then i think you have to at least consider trading jim, because we prolly wont pick up his 13 mil option for 09 and we could get a TON of young talent at this years deadline for him.... i mean we have plenty of valuable pieces that we can trade this deadline...SPs with big time play off experience (something every contender is almost always looking for) and a couple of tradable big bats (at least in my opinion). Nobody is untouchable. If we deal Buehrle, I would like to see at least one other starter go too. Even if we sell off a lot, I don't think we need be at 02 indians level. We could mix the old leftovers with some new blood. IE, surround Thome and Konkerko with some younger hitters. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) I challenge any of you to come up with a lineup that can score 5+ runs consistently consisting of the players we have right now. Who is the starting pitcher the Sox are going against? Also, would it be possible for the Sox hitter to face their own bullpen pitchers?

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) Thanks guys....playing anyone over Fields at this point is ridiculous. We allowed Robin Venture to begin his career (I think) with a 0 for 41 slump and we hung with him. At this point we aren’t going anywhere and we need to find out if Fields is a guy who can be a future 3rd basemen. Does our organization believe in Fields? If so, let the kid play. He stinks right now, but like I said Robin Ventura also did at one time and he figured it out. Don't forget Brian Anderson hitting below .200 for the first three months last year and disappearing in Sept again.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Did I just read where Ozzie said he may play Andy Gonzalez over Fields at 3rd base? I think that's an atrocious move if it did happen. It is really hard to defend Ozzie when he says stupid s*** like this. These are the things that make me getting ready to jump off the "support Ozzie" wagon and climb on the "Fire Ozzie's ass now" bandwagon.

Slightly OT, but a day game coupled with a day off creates an excellent opportunity to begin selling the spare parts to the scrap heap. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) what about our line up though? i guess it's been so many games by now that what you see is what you get. chicago's offense is a joke and the players are just stealing millions from the organization right now. 4th highest payroll for this? I could do better than KW. Anybody could do better, but could you do worse? -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) The next time the Sox are close to .500, they'll be 0-0 to start next season. Even then, they'll still be at a .000 win %. Hmmm ... then we can keep this going through Sox fest ... all the way through opening day 2008.

Good to know that we are helping get the national league teams hot, to help them keep the Cubs out of the playoffs. That is, until the Cubs sweep us too. -

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) My God I had been saying that MacDougal was the Politte of 2007 but now I think Thorton's taken that honor. Lights-out and dependable in 2006 (we called him Lefty Jenks) and now he's a gas can. BTW I did some checking about how long has it been since we've had a team this bad and the last year I could find where we were this awful was 1999. I don't remember it, but record-wise, that was the last horrific year we had. Unless I'm wrong--feel free to correct me. Makes you winder why our relievers are only good for one year. Is it time to start the loser thread yet or should we keep recycling the old one until they win again? -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) I'm looking forward to the Sox surge in late August and September to get near .500 and convince Ozzie and KW that a lot of these guys are good, so we can be mired in mediocrity for a long time. Hey KW, this isn't working. Change something. Anything at this point. I share your fear.
