Why doesn't Bobby Jenks ever pitch in close games?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to bigred3535's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) At this point in time, Bobby isn't our "closer," as there is no such thing exists on this team. He is our "best bullpen pitcher" who should be used to "keep it close" so we atleast have a chance to win, even if it is very, very, VERY minute. Who would you rather bring in? Bobby Jenks and his shiny 2.49 ERA or Ryan "27.00 ERA, suckas!" Bukvich/Bret Prinz/? Not even a question in my mind. ... unless of course you are preserving a lead that does not exist. Which game should Jenks have been brought in? The eighth yesterday. We know Bobby and closers in general don't do well for mulitple innings. -

Great Post! How about the fact that we don't win games. Might that have something to do with why Bobby Jenks is never brought in to close? -

The focus in day 2 seems to have shifted to the outfield. -

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) I could cry because this team makes me so sad. This team is my life and i'm continuously being hit in the heart night after night. It's so pathetic and depressing. To me it feels more like getting kicked square in the nuts every night of the week. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) Mike North during the baseball report has openly started to call for Greg Walkers firing. And North has such pull in the White Sox organization, particularly with Ozzie Guillen. -
I just remember the fly balls that he let drop in front of him as singles. One against KC during a day game in the 9th, inning against Foulke particularly stands out in my mind. Lee was never one of my favorites, but I would be too lazy to boo him.

An actual major league that is capable of hitting actual major league pitching would have won this game for Jose. I still can't figure out why the offense is not embarrassing KW yet. The bullpen sure did not take this long. -

I see the Tigers have scored 11 tonight. Maybe they can lend us a few runs. -

I'm starting to see how we are going to lose this one. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) Nice to know Thornton's warming up....I hope there's a reason he's not in the game now. It was a misunderstanding. When Ozzie called the bullpen, he kept trying to ask to McDougal. -

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) Alex Cintron may be one of the worst players in major league baseball. May be? I would recommend using the word "is". -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) Please...please...please....end the Cintron experience! He is on the Greg Walker Plan. WIth the exception of the conviction of a class A felony, he will finish the year with the team. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) 5.87 ERA as a soph? Must be some amazing competition. Or they keep score differently. Obviously they see some major potential in this guy, because his stats are not very sexy. The other possibility is that he is related to somebody in the organization. -

Perhaps some of these pitchers will be converted into middle infielders. ... And here I thought we had a major need for position players in our minor league system. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) simmonsfield.com After seeing Carpenter in person he definitely is a projectable arm. If the Sox can teach him some control, wow. He has major movement on his balls. They have operations to prevent that movement and painful side effects such as estrangulated testicles. -

I must say that I like the pacing of this draft better than the seemingly eternal NFL draft. And best of all, no Chris Berman cliches or waiting for Berman and his girth to have a heart attack on live TV. -

LeRoy sounds like a nice reliever. Not a bad pick.
