I am going to make a blanket statement that almost all of the Johnny Cash covers on the American Recordings Cd's are great. Let me add an obscure cover that I live: Foo Fighters - Baker Street. It is a hard to find b-side of the the My Hero single and they played a lot on Q101 about that time. Great song.

Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Diamond Club
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't wait to see "Omit Timo" posted everytime we play Detroit ... On second thought, I hope Timo plays everyday. -
UPDATE: Uribe now certain he'll play

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) Does Uribe look like he's gained weight to anyone else? I think Uribe's uniform size has gotten bigger each year he has been with the sox, ... bigger in the hips and behind that is. -
Boers and Berstein
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think they are pretty childish and either only idiots call they show or some of those calls are fixed. That said, I do enjoy "Who you Crappin'". -
Jim Parque attempting a comeback
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to maggsmaggs's topic in The Diamond Club
Parque had/has a hot wife as I recall too. That was the only real benefit he brought tp the team after his one good year. -
Since I am a fan of old movies, some might say it is strange that I love Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. They are kind of dead, but I think they were the two most beautiful actresses to grace the screen during their life. Also, I have a thing for Katie Couric. Until a close up shows how old she is.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Twins in 3rd for sure. I had no idea who you were talking about til I clicked on the link. Sid has little name recognition. With Sid's history, I am glad he is not headed to Milwaukee. Miller Park is too close to the brewery for him.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) Ventura got pummeled at the mound in Arlington Stadium, deep in the heart of Texas. Were you watching TV in the skybox that day? I was curious about the same thing.

Sisco heading back to the starting rotation
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to beautox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I believe Sisco will in the starting rotation almost as much as I believe KW when he said BMac could start the year in Triple A. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Is that Pink song for Sunday Night Football annoying or catchy? I need help. A better question is whether she has a mullet as she sings that song. -
My absolute favorite baseball player all time. Happy Birthday!

Last time we made a big trade with Texas it turned out pretty well "Midway through the 1989 season, the Texas Rangers acquired Baines, along with Fred Manrique, from the White Sox in a much-derided trade which sent Wilson Alvarez, Scott Fletcher, and Sammy Sosa to Chicago." Don't forget we traded that Sosa guy for a big time slugger named George Bell.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) Keep in mind, everyone in the majors knows Mark Buehrle is destined for St.Louis, thus he has no value. And St.Louis would be silly to trade for him, because they figure he'll be available for them next year anyway. The Cards are not exactly big spenders on the free agent market. They are curently getting outbid by the Brewers for their NLCS MVP. The Cards seem to be crying poor in recent off seasons to make me think Buehrle to the Cards is not as likely as some would believe. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) There are new guys in charge of the Rangers now. To say the new people in the Rangers can't develop pitchers because of mistakes made by others is comparing apples to oranges. IIRC, Bob Melvin was in charge of the talent. Few of his pitchers turned out. The pitching prospects in the Rangers system [not just the ones the sox got] are far more highly regarded than the arms of the past. Point taken, though Melvin is responsible for at least a very small fraction of that pitching development since the Bobby Witt era.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 04:07 AM) I respect your opinion, shipps, but I'm not gonna hold the fact that the Rangers haven't been able to develop pitching against Danks and Massett. I was thinking about this today. Having the Rangers developed a good pitcher since Bobby Witt?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I am. I believe in Haeger -- and besides, I'd rather have Haeger go and give everyone else more seasoning in Charlotte. I think it is time for somebody to cue the Haeger fan club sig. Any members besides Pratt and me?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) You dont trade for Thome if you believe that 2005 was a one shot in the dark. You trade for a Thome because you think you can win it all again. On the other side, IMO Ozzie does not strike me as a good patient rebuilding type manager.

QUOTE(Craig Grebeck @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) Last season, we had mediocre pitching and some horrible hitters in the lineup(Pods, Uribe, Anderson, AJ for half the year) and still could have won the division. If this is your reaction now, I can't wait until we trade/let walk the rest of the starters in the next few years. If this is the basis for an argument, all the more reason for people to be upset. BMac is the farthest from being able to walk.
-
QUOTE(Craig Grebeck @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) Yeah, as opposed to this year when our entire staff was complete garbage. Settle down people, I like the depth of the pitching a hell of a lot more than when we had five veterans with unimpressive stuff. We have plenty of "stuff" and innings guys in the system now, and we can either deal the veterans for more young players or flip the prospects in the package for a hitter. While 06 largely sucked, that staff won a World Series and 05 and could not have deteriorated that much. I hate the idea needing 8 runs to win when we trot at guy with "stuff" like Gavin Floyd out on the hill every five days. Doug Drabek and Danny Darwin were innings guys in '97. Yet the 97 season sucked. "Stuff" and "innings" does not mean much.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Let's go Haeger! I have to go with you on this one, I think Haeger is going to be the best knuckle baller in the bigs since the Niekro Bros.

This trade reminds me of a certain scene in the movie Pulp Fiction.
-
Can we adapt this to reflect the Sox off season moves, ... ie the BMac trade.
-
QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) If BMac were to have done well, we would of "eventually" gotten a payday, so it was a future dump. BMac is farther from a payday than anybody on the Sox staff. That excuse is a bit hard to swallow.
-
... At least this wasn't a salary dump.
-
QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Can't wait for Bingo Night at the Cell.... This is going to be different form pre 2005. Instead of a sea of blue seat, it will be a sea of green seats at the game.
