  1. I'm a DC area Sox fan and I would love to meet with you guys at Buffalo Billiards BUT I'm going home this weekend for the game (even though I don't have tickets). However, I'm really excited that there are enough DC area fans to organize something like this and I really hope that we can get together for Games 3, 4 and beyond. Let me know what the turnout is like on Saturday and if it's promising, let's make this a recurring thing. Go Sox!
  2. Still no word... Anyone out there win this thing yet??????
  3. Guys, Sadly, my last shot at World Series is winning the essay contest that MLB.com was running on the Sox official site. Anyone else enter? I think I put together some well-written stuff and I'm dying to know who won this damn thing. Anyone know/share similar frustrations? Go Sox.
  4. I'm anxiously awaiting the pennant winning video. I hope someone makes one soon... RV?
  5. I love the Sox. So does my Dad. Even though I'm out at school in Washington DC, I've talked to my dad after every White Sox winner during the postseason. I could never explain how many father-son conversation of mine have been driven by White Sox talk. I can talk with Dad about the Sox for hours. I attribute our close relationship to the White Sox above all else. Every time I see the end of Field of Dreams when Costner says, "Hey Dad, wanna have a catch?"...I get teary-eyed. My father and I love each other vicariously through the Sox. Anyone got similar stories?
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Not sure if its been posted, if not, here it is http://www.shutuptimmccarver.com/ a red sox site...eeeeww
  7. You have to win four to move on. We're not there yet. Let's get there tonight. But remember, you have to win four to win a series, not three. Then, you have to win another four games in the World Series. I know I'm being Captain Obvious right now, but I want to remind everyone (including myself) that we have a long way to go. Go Sox.
  8. Let's talk Dye, Everett, Rowand, A.J. before we open our mouths about Tadahito...
  9. These games make me so nervous. My stomach starts to really hurt before game time and I get short of breath. The White Sox are going to run me into the ground at a young age. Go Sox.
  10. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I'll be updating my video when the Sox complete their post-season run. Complete with pictures and possibly videos, too (sans Berman). Hey RV, I'm so glad to hear that you're doing another video after we win the World Series. I don't wanna cramp your artistic style, but Runnin' Down a Dream would be a perfect song to play during you Spring Training clips/early season highlights. Obviously, you gotta stick with Thunderstruck for AJ's homerun...my fav part of the whole thing. Go Sox.
  11. Whoever makes the next video needs to put "Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty in there. They used to play it during White Sox postgame on the radio and it used to give me goosebumps. The videos are awesome. I hope there's more to come. Go Sox.
  12. What's the deal for Games 6 and 7? Have those tickets already been sold out? Craiglist looks like it's all Games 1 & 2...
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) This is great we get Paul Byrd game 1 and than either Lackey starting his 2nd game on 3 days rest or a Washburn recovering from being sick. 1) Are we getting Byrd on full rest? 2) Didn't it strike you as a little odd as to how overjoyed the Angels were to advance? They seemed a lot more excited than the Sox. Probably trying to enjoy victory while they can... 3) Can someone explain the "Bronze Titan" banner to me?
  14. Let's get f***ing ready for the Angels. They'll be a formidable opponent. And we will beat them.
  15. I can't see the Halos winning this game. Ervin better pitch like Johann if they're gonna pull this out. I know our poll here says that we want to face the Yanks because they're like the Red Sox...big offense, little bullpen, iffy starting pitching, etc...but I'm just not so sure. The Yankees are hungry this year and they far outplayed the Red Sox in the second half of the season. They're clearly superior to the Red Sox. And even if their relievers aren't outstanding, they always have Mariano. Do we REALLY want to face the Yanks next round? But man, if we could beat the Yanks, I'd cry tears of joy. Go Sox.
  16. When MLB made the shirts, they were making the shirts based off a roster on which Joe was excluded because he was on the DL with his injured hand or whatever it was. Regardless, it's a huge error by MLB. I got my info for Scott Reifert's "Inside the White Sox" blog...Here's what he had to say... --------------------- Crede T-Shirt Some have noticed that one version of the Division Championship t-shirt on sale at the ballpark omits Joe Crede's name from the roster. The shirts were produced by an MLB supplier at the time Joe was on the disabled list, so when they pulled the roster for the t-shirt, his name did not show up. Just prior to game time, Joe was busy with a white magic marker adding his name to thousands of shirts. We figured they would be worth more this way. --------------------- Here's the link...http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/
  17. Can they really make the Yankees/Angels go from New York to Los Angeles to Chicago in three days? If so, that's awesome.
  18. The Sox official site is reporting the Marte isn't going anywhere...and neither is McCarthy. While at first I thought that this was a s*** move, I don't know how I feel about BMac coming outta the bullpen in a close playoff game. It just doesn't feel like it would work. Of course, the same could be said of Marte. I don't know why Ozzie has so much faith in Damaso, but I guess we should trust Ozzie's gut. Hopefully, Damaso got all of his bed-s***ting out of the way in Boston. Remember, this guy used to be our top bullpen dog. I hope he can refocus. I kinda have to agree with Guillen when he cites the need for two lefties in the bullpen. It's a huge advantage. I don't think anyone else in the league has two lefty relievers. Hopefully, Damaso gets used more in the 6th and 7th and Cotts gets more 8th and 9th inning opportunities. As far as Contreras in Game 1, I was a little disappointed that Garland wasn't getting the start. However, I like our chances of winning that first game with the Count. Hopefully, Garland's simulated game will help him get back on track for a Game 3 start. And...if one of these first two games gets ridiculously close, maybe it wouldn't hurt to get Garland a couple dozen pitches. I wonder how'd he'd pitch outta the bullpen... He's probably better off startin'... What do you guys think of Garland's ridiculous amount of time off (10/1-10/14ish) and Marte's presence/BMac absence? I think we should've dropped Viz and brought on BMac. For some reason, I still have faith in Marte.
  19. During the fifth inning of Game 2, I arbitrarily decided to take off my belt in order to rearrange my junk. We have not trailed in a game since. I will not be wearing a belt for the rest of October. It's all shoestrings and suspenders from here on out. Go Sox.
  20. AT THIS POINT, I DON'T CARE. LET'S JUST f***ING WIN.
  21. Dear Party People of Soxtalk.com, Now that the Sox have finally proven themselves worthy of some national media respect, we all may have a tendency to buy into some of bulls*** that those ESPN ass-clowns spit up when they talk White Sox. 1) There's a Trib article today on ChicagoSports.com with a byline reading "White Sox Nation?" Now, unfortunately this is a term that has been gaining popularity in recent days and I f***ing hate it. People on these boards have used it occasionally. We aren't the Red Sox. Stop calling us White Sox Nation. It's really annoying. 2) Chris "When I talk, s*** comes out" Berman likes to refer to the Curse of Shoeless Joe. Please. Stop. Sox fans, don't buy into the bulls***. Let's keep it real like we always do, all the way to the World Series. Go Sox.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Duque has 50 pitches now. Looks like it's Jenks in the ninth.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) f*** YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!! I'd leave El Duque in there to close it, if he can I completely agree. If Ozzie usually goes with his gut when it comes to the bullpen, he should leave Duque in. Leave him in, Oz.
  24. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Pods Iguchi Dye Konerko Everett Rowand AJ Crede Uribe Damon Renteria Ortiz Ramirez Nixon Mueller Olerud Mirabelli Graffanino Why is Varitek not in the lineup today?
