I would say Top 5. Once USC got up by 12 with 6 mins left, I shut it off, so maybe if I watched the rest I would have rated it higher. Also, it wasn't that exciting in terms of big plays. There were only a couple.

Balta1701, His contract was through 2007, after he signed an extension for 2006 and 2007. Goldmember, So Herm Edwards is only worth a 4th Round Pick? Then what is Lovie Smith worth? What if he decides after the season that he would rather have the Rams job, is a 4th Round pick enough for him? greasywheels121, How were the Jets going to f*** him over? Fire him and he still earns the remainder of his contract for sitting on his ass? How is that f***ing him over? It is not. CanOfCorn, It is not the same. The difference between player's contracts and coaches is that coaches get the full contract regardless if they stay the entire time or not. Mariucci is getting something like $8 million over the next 2 years for not coaching the Lions. This is starting a bad precedence in the league. Now every time a coach has a bad season, he can just decide to jump ship and move on in the middle of a contract. What kind of league would the NFL be if all the players and coaches on bad teams did this every year? Yes a player can holdout if he feels that he has out played his contract, but HE signed the contract, and that is why it is called a contract. It is an agreement between the player and team in terms of years and money. If the player does not like the contract don't sign it and go play somewhere else, but don't sign a contract then a year or two into a 5 year deal b**** about the contract you signed. If Herm does this after his contract, then I have no problem with it, but it just seemed like really odd timing. If the Jets were going to fire him, fine they have that right, but they would owe him the remainder of the contract.

At least Ozzie got 5 votes. These are the only other ones that have a legitimate shot as long as this wasn't their last year of eligibility: Jim Rice 337 (64.8%) Rich ''Goose'' Gossage 336 (64.6%) Andre Dawson 317 (61.0%) Bert Blyleven 277 (53.3%) Lee Smith 234 (45.0%) Jack Morris 214 (41.2%)

I don't know about you, but I lost a lot of respect for the guy after this shady move. Talking about jumping ship. The Jets were the first team to give him a Head Coaching job, they gave him an extension after the team finished 6-10. Then when the team needed him most, he leaves the team. Also, in his news conference he talks about commitment. How can he even use that as a motivator? He wasn't even committed to finishing his own contract. Obviously he wanted to get the hell out of NY and that situation, but just last month he was telling everyone he was staying in NY. If your one of his players, you have to be somewhat pissed off. I know he's got kids to feed and everything, but you would think a coach would honor his contract before jumping ship. What are your thoughts?

That is somewhat surprising, because I would have thought that the Yanks would have been #1 with the addition of Damon. The Sox should be in first though. They finished the season #1 and have made moves to make themselves better. Hard to argue against that.

I received everything over a months time. Here is the kicker. I originally bought the year's subscription, then decided to cancel after I received my first issue. They only charged me for one issue and I still received all the free gifts. I emailed them just to be safe and they said I could keep whatever I received and I would not be charged anymore. I did not expect to receive anything, then I got the book and coins, then 2 balls, then the last ball and stand in three different shipments.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Son of a b****. I hate it when they get it wrong. If they could care less, why don't they? The title implies they care, but the story says otherwise. Now I know why they are hiring a new writer for the Sox. It is a cliche. It used to be "I could not care less" and at some point it was shortened to "I could care less". It is a very common mistake. At least the article reflects the character of the team as being team-oriented and driven.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) They can, But I don't see them beating Seattle or Washington even if they beat Carolina again, who looked like a totally different team than the one they beat earlier this year. Carolina has an identity crisis. You never know what team is going to show up. Even though Carolina looked like a totally different team that they did earlier, they still played a horrible Giants team that would make any team look that good. The Bears are also a better team now than when they beat Carolina. As seen by the Palmer injury, an injured QB has a huge impact on his team. Grossman is huge factor. Carolina could put 8 or 9 guys in the box every play, and the Bears still won. This time there is no way they can do that, which will free up the Bears running game. I actually hope the Panthers try to stop the run because they will get burnt by the deep ball. So yes the Bears can reach the Superbowl, and if they get there, they actually have a good shot at winning it. Could this be a repeat of 1985 (Bears - Patriots)?

QUOTE(G&T @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) There will never be six starters unless pitchers start that in the minors. It screws up the timing of guys who are used to 5 days. There is no question he will be there for long relief and spot starts. That is somewhat of a myth, because a pitcher never gets the exact same amount of days off. It is normally 4 or 5 days off, with a few 6 day stretches. Here is Buerhle's rest from 2005: 4 days off x 16 games (4 losses and 3 bad starts with ND) 5 days off x 13 games (4 losses and 1 bad start with ND) 6 days off x 3 games (3-0) Try to figure out which one is better for him. Since 6 is too small of a sample size you can throw that one out, but you could make a case for giving him 5 days off with a couple of 6 days off once a month or so. Each pitcher is different and some prefer the same amount of rest off, but I don't think there is too much difference between 4 days and 5 days off. So I can imagine B-Mac being plugged into a lot of spots when there are only 4 days off for the starting 5. That would give all of them more 5 day rests. So based off of Mark's rest numbers from 2005, B-Mac would get around 16 starts, and then be used as long relief when he is not starting to keep his arm fresh. If his is dominating in a few of those starts and someone else is struggling, I can see them moving the other to the bullpen.

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) ok i will be off to College this Fall, and I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go to. I have been accepted to both SIU's, Northern Illinois, and Columbia College in Chicago. Just wondering to any of you who attend or have attended there what are your thoughts on the college. Did you like your experience or what? College is overrated, but personally I would go for either NIU or Columbia College.

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Saying someone is a more polished passer than Michael Vick is like saying you are taller than a midget. Ron Mexico is a horrible passer.. its not that big of an accomplishment to be better than him. LMAO - Great analogy.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Really? The only change defensively is Anderson. And Anderson, from all reports, is no slouch with the glove. If he is as good as Rowand remains to be seen, but I think saying that our defense is severely downgraded is an overstatement. I'd go more with "slightly downgraded in center field." I agree. I don't think the D will take as big of a hit as everyone is making out. It is not like Rowand made 20 catches with 3 highlight reel catches per game. Also, Rowand has always been pretty good, but he took another step last year. So Anderson right now won't do what Rowand did last year, but how many plays will actually be negatively affected by Anderson's defense?

Here is a weird coincidence. The Bears last 4 coaches have all won the Coach of the Year award, and they all were off the team within a few years, with some have horrible years the following year. I really hope Lovie breaks this trend: COTY Kiss of Death? Ditka 1988 - next year 6-10, fired after 1992. Wannstedt 1994 - 3 yrs later 4-12, fired after 1998. Jauron 2001 - next year 4-12, fired after 2003. Smith 2005 - ?? No coach has lasted longer than 4 years after winning the award.

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) I read in the paper today that of Frank's last 150 homers, 111 came at the Cell. That would be a concern to me if I was a GM in a pitcher's park like Oakland's. Wow I didn't know that. Seems to be a huge disparity, only 39 away from the Cell in the last 150 HRs? Here are his H/A Splits for HRs since 2001: 2005 H - 9 A - 3 2004 H - 14 A - 4 2003 H - 29 A - 13 2002 H - 24 A - 4 2001 H - 2 A - 2 He has only hit 16 HRs in OAK, and 13 in MIN for his career.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) How often did Seattle get held to an FG when they were at or near the goal line? Alexander gets stuffed less than any other RB in this league in goal line situations. It's almost like having Shaquille O'Neal underneath the basket if you think about it. He's pretty much automatic. Thre is no such thing as a cheap touchdown in a goal line situation. You need to get that out of your head ASAP. So when a team is resting their superstar RB and they send him in at first and goal at the one yard line to break the record, that is not cheap? They were playing for the record, that is cheap. If he got hurt on that play, everyone would have questioned why he was in there for that play after he was already pulled from the game. They actually did that a lot. Why else would he play in a meaningless game? To break the TD record and win the Rushing title, and that is cheap. If he doesn't win the rushing title or break the record, he is not the MVP, and he knew it. Alexander has had 39 rushes when SEA had a goal to go situation. He scored 20 TD's in those 39 rushes. So he had only 7 TD runs from outside of the 10. Of those 20 TDs, 15 were less than 3 yards.

He seems like a long shot, but you never know with Cooper. He doesn't have a right hand, so he pitches very similar to Jim Abbott. Abbott threw a no-hitter against the Yanks.

The Score pitches Ozzie Jr. as baseball talk host

It is not like they are replacing any show with this show. They are filling some dead air time with some new ethnic content. Good for them. Not the first time and not the last. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) Good to be the second-lowest team in payroll from the playoffs last year. Then of course, winning it all. I guess if you call the Padres a playoff team. They would not have gotten in if they were in any other Division. The Dodgers and Giants were in the same Division and had a higher payroll than the Sox.

QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) I think they used to call that "Olympic baseball." The key is used to. Baseball is no longer an Olympic sport after 2008.
