  1. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) I think what he meant that because Kotchman has been at the major league level a good 30-40 games a year the past two years that he's not exactly a fresh face anymore (and he did get a few ABs in the ALCS, if I remember it right), and Erstad moving to centerfield isn't exactly new, this doesn't compare to other recent youth movements, like the Braves last season. Thanks, couldn't have said it better myself. Just compare the ALCS Games 4 and 5 with their current depth chart. It is basically the same, so it is not like they went out and replaced some of the older players (Anderson or Erstad) with youth.
  2. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Thanks dude. I dumb question...would they mail them out? Yes, absolutely. I am in NY and they said it will take 1-2 weeks for delivery.
  3. That cannot be real. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . There is no way he speaks that clearly.
  4. Just FYI. For those that missed out on getting a local Chicago newspaper for the World Series. The Tribune has back issues available for only 90 days. So you have until about the 24th of January if you still want to pick one up for the World Series win. The ALCS win is about to be out of the 90 day window. They are $10 a pop. Their number is 312-222-3080. Checking on the Sun-Times on Tuesday.
  5. First, I don't see how this is a youth movement. This was the same exact players that played in the ALCS, just in different positions. So this is more smoke and mirrors. There actually is no change. The Angels will be 2nd in the West next year. Oakland's rotation is looking a lot better than the Angels. They have 4 starters that had 33 or more GS last year, and the 5th is Harden who is pretty good. For the Angels, they only had 2 pitchers with 33 GS, and 2 with less than 10. OAK 1. B. Zito 35 GS 2. R. Harden 19 GS 3. E. Loaiza 34 GS 4. D. Haren 34 GS 5. J. Blanton 33 GS LAA 1. B. Colon 33 GS 2. J. Lackey 33 GS 3. E. Santana 23 GS 4. K. Escobar 7 GS 5. H. Carrasco 5 GS Even if Escobar comes around, Santana's 4.65 ERA has to be a little concerning. 1. OAK 2. LAA 3. TEX
  6. Did the Blackhawks use that rink as their practice facility, because they are definitely not playing better than some little kids. What happened to the good ol days of Roenick, Chelios, Savard, Larmer, Wilson, or Belfour?
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) http://www.onepete.com/ And so true....although rumor has it everytime this site gets a hit, somebody from ESPN weeps. Shouldn't it be: http://www.onepeat.com/
  8. That was pretty shocking to see that after the team had said it wasn't bad at first. I hope him the best.
  9. Chisoxfn, Option 2 seems like the best option. To continue posts from the old forum, you could re-make threads in the new forum, then just have the first post link to the archived forums. So it would almost make those like separate pages to a long thread. If you want to see previous posts you go to page one, or in this case, click on the archive link. Option 2 seems like it gives you more flexibility and will allow for the increase in users since Soxtalk.com comes up on top in most of the searches like "White Sox Message Board", etc. Go with that, and if you need any help just let me know.
  10. Here is a short list of needs from the Scott Miller article: BOS: SS, CF, Leadoff Hitter LAA: DH PHI: SP LAD: SP BAL: SP SD: SP MIN: Another Hitter http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9161301/2 Here are some funny quotes from the article in reference to the Sox: I could picture him saying that. That is a great way to describe the Astros hitting. Just thought those were kinda funny, and it was interesting to see a few teams left off the list.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Muchos gracias! de nada
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Do they charge once it ships? Per email from Deep Discount DVD:
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) It's up and it's good. I just checked the site and wasn't held back from making the order. Looks good to go. Cool, they must have been updating as I was trying to view, it is there now: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=ANE074722
  14. QUOTE(J-MAN @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) I just got off the phone with Deep Discount DVD - you can order the 7-disc set from them for $41.97!!!!! Can you pre-order it for that much? That is a steal. It is not on their website yet though.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:10 AM) Wait so is Bush staying, or is the gag thing true???? He is announcing it today, but with Leinart and White gone, it would make sense if he leaves as well. His stock is too high right now. If goes back to USC and gets hurt or has a sub-par year, he will lose out on millions.
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) This letter isn't new...I got this e-mailed to me like a month or two ago...that being said...Paulie has taken the torch...and won't be as big a pain in the ass as Frank...and Frank is still my favorite Sox player of all time. I was thinking the same thing, man didn't I read this right after Paulie signed? Paulie now has the torch, he has already helped lead the Sox to their first WS Championship, and they are now primed to defend that championship.
  17. I canceled after the first issue and I was credited back everything except the first issue price. I called them and they said I could keep everything I received in terms of the Sox free gifts, and I ended up receiving everything. So one issue + Sox free gifts for under $3.
  18. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 04:44 AM) It's funny because the Orioles have gone through quite a few players that could have done roids at some point in their careers... Brady Anderson Manny Alexander Tony Batista Rafael Palmeiro Miguel Tejada Javy Lopez Sammy Sosa Could have?
  19. Troy Aikman, Harry Carson, L.C. Greenwood, Russ Grimm, Claude Humphrey, Michael Irvin, Bob Kuechenberg, John Madden, Art Monk, Warren Moon, Derrick Thomas, Thurman Thomas, Reggie White, Rayfield Wright, and Gary Zimmerman. A maximum of six candidates will be selected for induction. So if you could pick 6, who would be in? My picks: Aikman, Carson, Madden, Moon, D. Thomas, and White T. Thomas, Irvin, Greenwood, and Monk would be on the bubble for me. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/13602521.htm
  20. The HoF is getting more like winning a Gold Glove, where there is almost no value. You can compare stats or ask hitters in that era who was a more dominant pitcher and almost all of them would say Gossage. He pitched in the AL, compared to Sutter that pitched exclusively in the NL. He played in 22 seasons compared to 12 for Sutter. Gossage - 9 time All-Star , Sutter - 6 time All-Star. The only thing that Sutter had over Gossage was a Cy Young award in 1979. If you compare players and careers, Gossage is closest to Fingers and Hoyt Wilhelm (both HoFers). Sutter is closest to Doug Jones and Tom Henke. They need to really take a look at these voters. The votes should be made public or the voters should be held accountable for their votes.
  21. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) (1) If having Boras as his agent means the end of his playing days in Chicago, and he likes the city and team, and success......why wouldn't Crede just get a new agent, at least if the negotiations turn sour? Uribe actually fired Bora$ after he came over to the Sox. Bora$ has been quoted as saying that it is his job to get his clients to the FA market and arbitration where they make the most money. His clients rarely sign a contract in their arb years that puts them in the FA market later than if they stuck to one year arb deals, then hit the FA market in their first eligible year.
  22. The point is that Bagwell is going to play regardless of his injury, even though he cannot throw a ball over 100 feet. The Astros feel that this is not acceptable for $17 million, since they want a healthy player for that amount of money. If he says he cannot play due to injury, the Astros would not be liable for all that money.
  23. QUOTE(Fotop @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) RME, I think in your earlier post you failed to understand contracts in the NFL. Player contracts are not guarenteed in the NFL...so if a team thinks a player is playing bad they can just cut him. So if teams are able to cut players when they underperform, players should have the right to holdout if they overperform. It's rather simple, but it makes sense in the balance between owner/player power. As a result, I don't buy the "if you sign a contract you should honor it" argument...owners certainly don't follow that motto so why should the players? I completely understand the contracts of players and coaches. The reason why players can be cut without compensation is because the stupid agreement the Players association signed with the league. That is the worst part of the league. Players holding out for more money, or teams cutting players when they suck. The difference is that the team has the upper hand due to the agreement. That is why the player should just honor the contract and play. If the players don't like it, renegotiate the agreement. The Jets had the power to do whatever they wanted. They didn't have to let KC talk to Edwards. They had all the chips, but Edwards basically said he wanted out and the Jets then had no choice but to salvage something for him. Everyone is making like the Jets were going to fire him, then why were they going to give him another extension this year? Here is a good article about the situation: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...mmqb/index.html
  24. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) If you knew you were going to get fired, wouldn't you start planning for the future? It's widely known the Jets were going to fire Edwards. They should be extatic that they're receiving some kind of consolation prize for not getting to do so. Not if I was an NFL coach, because it is tampering to talk to other teams. I understand your point, but I cannot see why they would be ecstatic for only getting a 4th round pick.
  25. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) What font are you using?
