QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 02:02 PM) There are literally thousands of people in the Chicagoland area that face the same issue. Should the utility companies just give everyone a pass on paying for a service because its cold outside? Its a service you pay for, if you cant pay, you dont get the service. Its fairly straightforward. To my knowledge in Illinois Nicor does NOT turn off service in the winter months. Wait until April then turn the service off. I know it's straightforward because you can pay your bills. It's a pair of shoes you can't understand walking in unless it happens to you.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) They are required, at least in Texas, to track which homes have life support equipment. I believe it would be easy enough to track any other special needs like elderly, handicapped, etc. and have a second contact person to inform if they are going to limit or terminate service. It doesn't matter if it's a home with special needs or not. In this day your 35 year old neighbor with a wife and 2 kids could be struggling to pay the bills and be having a hard time making ends meet. There is NO justification for turning off heat in this weather.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) It is not plausible to believe an electric company would/should know the living/housing situations of all of its clients unless the town had like 100 people in it The bill wasn't getting paid so they obviously knew there was a problem. It's below f***ing zero outside. There is no need to cut of ANYONE'S heat in this weather.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) The Twins had every member of their 40 man roster attend their fest. It could be a nice thing for players guaranteed to make millions in this economy to make an effort and take a weekend and devote it to the fans. AJP won't be there because he's too busy going to the Super Bowl. I like AJ, but that is BS. And Thome didn't make it a previous year because of a family wedding. Is that BS, too? They devote 8 months of their lives a year to the fans. Some do more, some don't. AJ was there on crutches when he likely should have been home on the couch. I know, I know... "what have you don't for me lately...."

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) Still no changes=Disaster. You'd think they would learn a thing or two. For those who are going for the first time, and obviously the autograph schedule is not out yet, but lets say Big Jim is signing at 2:30p with a couple of sessions before him... plan on getting over to that line for a bracelet at 10am. People will always try the same shenanigans with this system. No changes? You can only have 1 wristband at a time. That's a significant change.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) I hate shopping. I hate stores, particularly big and/or crowded ones, and I despise malls. There are maybe a few stores I actually enjoy being in - Abt Electronics, REI... that's about it. Everything else, my pulse and blood pressure rise notably when I'm inside, and I want to get out as quickly as possible. ^ This. I hate, hate, hate the mall. The only store I will go into during the day, because I have to, is Babies R Us and thankfully it is during the day so it's not too bad. I grocery shop after 10pm and anything else I need that is more than a 5 minute run into Target I get online.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) Actually, there are all sorts of mental disorders that can exist in some very normal seeming people. Plenty of serial killers fall into that realm. Or all of them. -
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING WRISTBANDS FOR AUTOGRAPHS** SoxFest 2009 - Autograph Session Wristband Policy • To assist with crowd flow at SoxFest, colored wristbands will be utilized for each autograph session (a different color for every session). • The number of wristbands for each session will correspond with the number of autographs listed in the program for each session. • Wristbands will be issued at each autograph booth on a first-come, first-serve basis for each session. • Wristband distribution for future autograph sessions will begin when the line for the preceding session has reached capacity. • To enable the greatest number of SoxFest guests the opportunity to obtain an autograph, only one wristband may be obtained per guest at any one time. Multiple wristbands will not be issued to any one guest. • Guests with more than one wristband at one time will be denied autograph privileges and all wristbands will be removed by a White Sox representative. • Once a guest receives a wristband, he/she may not obtain a wristband for an additional session until they have received an autograph from the current session and a White Sox representative has removed their wristband. • Wristbands will be removed by a White Sox representative upon arrival at the specific autograph booth. Guests are welcome to try for another wristband for a different autograph session once the first band is removed by a staff member. • The correct colored wristband will be needed in order to access an autograph line. • Guests with a wristband for any particular session must be in line no later than 30 minutes after the start time of the autograph session to be guaranteed an autograph. • The transferring of wristbands, along with line jumping will result in loss of all autograph privileges. Thank you for your cooperation! Also Tony, you can park at USCF for free and take the train starting at noon Friday.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) His quotes and movie lines and historical figures are becoming pretty funny though. He is certifiable, that's for sure. I would not be surprised if he ends up having some sort of breakdown over the course of this. He can't be right in the head with some of the things coming out of his mouth. -

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) lol i don't think you understand the word 'comparison'. I understand it just fine. And I understand how you were trying to insinuate he was comparing himself to them in the martyr roles they played, which was not at all the case. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) lol well he seemed to impy he was under similar circumstances, thus making a comparison between him and them. No he did not say he was under similar circumstances. As a matter of fact he went out of his way to say he was in no shape or form comparing his issues to their plights. I imagine it's difficult being such an expert at everything... maybe if you narrowed down your expertise some you'd be a bit more accurate. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) I saw some clips from that interview and I had the same impression, that he did exactly that. Maybe watch the entire thing then. He said that he felt like they must have felt being unjustly persecuted. Barbara "I should retire" Walters and him discussed this in great detail on The "horrible" View this morning. -

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) I just saw an interview in which Blago compares himself to Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, and Gandhi. The guy is a douchebag, but that's not what he did. -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) Yea, I can relate to that. Of course this means that we are raising kiddos who will have sleeping disorders when they grow up if they live in a quiet neighborhood. Hey, it's good enough for me, it's good enough for her. Since forever ago I can't fall asleep without the tv on. Thank God for the timer function.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) This debate is almost always along the lines of those with babies and those without. For me it's not even a debate. I completely understand where they are coming from because I was once that person. Until I had a baby and realized I was wrong as long as the parent acts responsibly and is considerate of others.
-
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) Also depends on what your baby is used to. This X10000000. Bri has been hearing loud noise since day 1. She's slept at Sox games, Bears games, Bulls games, movies, the grocery store, the mall at Christmastime, etc, etc... I have yet to find a venue that when tired enough she wont sleep at. At nap time and night she sleeps with a radio tuned to static and if I forget to turn it on she won't sleep!

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 08:15 AM) a play by play review of The View would be nice. didnt think I would ever see that on the filibuster Barbara's creepy head, on a tv screen via satellite from LA, interviewed him alone first and basically just asked him if he tried to sell the seat to which he replied that if all the tapes were released "unedited" that the "truth" would come out. (sic). Then she tried to get a zinger in by using a quote from his FIL from 2005 as the reason Patty wasn't there, which he corrected her (I hate BW and wish she would retire or at the very least do research before making an asshole of herself). Then after the break Whoopie, Joy and Sheri talked to him and he explained how he isn't able to defend himself, how innocent until proven guilty isn't the presumption here.. etc, etc, etc... He explained what he had to, though it was borderline above the View's viewers heads IMO, but I think he accomplished what he set out to do, not that it will help him any. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) Nothing against you personally. It's just my personal preference to attend R rated movies minus the babies/toddlers. I know. Which I why they should have a time cut off.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) Movies are very loud at the theater. Chances of a baby sleeping throughout are slim. Off the top of my head that I can remember Bri slept during The Dark Knight, Hellboy 2, and Indiana Jones without even waking for a bottle.
-
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) During the day is fine. Its a different movie experience. But late at night on a friday is a different story. I was at a movie, where 2 familes, brought 3 toddlers, and 2 babies to see a scary movie. By about 20 minutes in, the toddlers are screaming, and the parents are fighting with the people in the theater because its their god given rights to bring kids to the 10:20 showing because they bought a ticket. Eventually they were ejected, but it ruined the movie experience. I agree with you. That's completely ridiculous. The cut off should be 3pm, IMO.
-
QUOTE (rangercal @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) I could give a s*** if people bring their kids to movies. It's when the kids/babies start crying that pisses me off. GTFO That I completely agree with. Luckily Bri's a pretty content baby and I haven't had this issue but if/when I do it's out of the theater asap. And it's not like it just comes out of nowhere. Babies give you plenty of notice that they are unhappy before they start crying.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) We were referring to R rated movies. I could see the case for kids movies but when I'm watching Kill Bill I don't want babies crying next to me. I took Bri to many rated R movies over the summer. I'm saying there should be a time cutoff. If you aren't in Kill Bill at 2 in the afternoon why can't I go see it with her?
-
I hate people who can't be bothered to RSVP. Seriously... is it that much trouble to make a call or shoot an email? The person inviting you went out of their way to send you an invitation and you, you ignorant f***, can't be bothered to respond.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) +1 I can't believe they just don't allow people with babies and toddlers into R rated movies in the first place. I agree and disagree. Over the summer I saw a ridiculous amount of movies during the day with Bri because all she did was slept. And on the rare occasion she was awake she just watched the screen silently. But I do agree there should be a cut off time for all movies for babies and toddlers.
