QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) True, but he didn't necessarily have to do it in the Oval Office, either. They didn't. It was done in the "map room" whatever the heck that is. From what I read it's very rare to have any video taken inside the WH outside of the press rooms or planned events.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) Sox Fest should be about player accessibility. Every player should be available for a full 3 days of hand shaking, picture taking and autograph signing. Players can clear one weekend during their off season for the fans. I'd go back if it was set up that way. The clinics, the former players and all the crap that's for sale is of no interest to me. I agree about accessibility. If you're there be there 100%. Every player.. would be nice but not realistic. By their logic they only have 4 (or 3 depending on their workout schedules) months of free weekends to spend with their families, go on vacations, etc, etc and the rest of the time they spend entertaining us. Obviously some don't mind it. But from the lack of participation - or the half assed attempts - it seems that most don't care to give up the weekend. And I understand where you're coming from but the clinics for kids are the biggest draws. Maybe when you have some you'll feel different :-)

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) Yeah but it used to be so much better-at least after standing in line 3 hours, the players would lean over and take a picture with you-it was at least a little fan friendly Just not worth it now. They will sign 2 items and take a picture so I'm not sure what you are referring to. That's part of the reason for all the complaining about cutting the wristbands down but the time in line went up.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) Good lord. That'w what you are giving me crap over? I didn't even mean it about that comment. I meant it as there has to be a complaint on everything, I didn't mean it about that particular topic. OK, now I see what you were yelling at me for. By "it" I meant in general, not about "it" being religion. Ohhh. Of course. Gotcha.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) and not that i want to get involved... but how do you have the authority to say in what manner something should be delivered...? I don't need any authority to have an opinion.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) I disagreed with their OPINION and stated my OPINION of their OPINION. Do you get that now or are you going to keep up your crusade of trying to make me look like an ass for some reason? Hell, I think Rock and BS even get what I was trying to say. I got what you were saying. I just found it to be delivered in an unnecessary manner.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) Why is it hard to understand the point? It's their CHOICE to have this included. Much of it is based on tradition. If they don't want to have it, they wouldn't. No, the Constitution doesn't have that mention, and it shouldn't. But this is a (I question the word "civil") ceremony - it's an inauguration - it's something that is not explicit to the Constitution. It's a ceremony that means nothing, really, since the Constitution explicitly says when the office is vacated by the former president. It's a big f***ing party for show. That's it. If that's your point fine. Then don't in the next breath give s*** to someone that doesn't share the same thoughts. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) The inauguration is a state function not a religious function. I find it completely unnecessary to perform religious ceremonies during something like this. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Wow. People can't give anything a rest, can they?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Again, Steff, read the whole damn thread and its context before trying to call me out. I think I made my point pretty clear if you read past the first post you wanted to throw piss all over me for. Maybe you need to read it again because it had nothing to do with what Obama did or didn't do on stage. I know it's the norm to toss s*** back at others and they crawl away but I think it was incredibly ignorant of you to attack BS and Rock's opinion on the prayer and I don't have a problem saying so. I don't know what your point was. But that was mine.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) Someone else said that and it would have gotten no outrage from me. If he would have bowed to the porcelin god right there on stage, his inauguration, his choice on what he wants to do. That was the point being made all along for those who like to play thread police. :bulls***rolleyes

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) Did anyone get a screen shot of Southpaw? That was your job. I told you he was going to be on...

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) He was impeached?

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) How should I go about trying to find someone I fell out of touch with about 10 years ago? All I have is their full name. Try Facebook or MySpace..?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) The Buster operates on a slightly different plane, as I am sure you are aware. If we tried to keep everything positive and shiny, we'd have about 6 posts in the entire forum. I'm well aware. I guess I just hoped that this thread could stay free of bulls***. But I guess it wouldn't be the buster without some whiney post about the cost of this or that. Sorry for the thread-jack.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Actually I think this was the opposite. Two of Obama's biggest supporters were against the prayer being in his ceremony, while people who really didn't support him, supported his actions in this case. And two of his haters jump on their asses as usual. It's exactly as I wrote it. No positive contribution.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) The event totally caters to those people staying at the hotel. One HUGE advantage (at least in past) is that you can line up for autographs earlier than those not staying at the hotel. Anyone can get in line. It's obviously easier for those staying there. I wish they had a better system for them. Like at check in you get a wristband and have 2 signings right after the other. 1 for hotel guests and 1 for daily guests. It wouldn't kill those guys to sign a bit longer but that's another argument. Tony I think it's $25 a night for hotel guests. And don't bother yelling at the Hilton. It's not their garage. I'm sure Standard Parking has a complaint line though.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) does anyone else see the irony between the bold part, and the part that follows...? Oh sorry. It was meant to be in green to mock those that kept it going in the first place. My bad.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) And that's where it should be left. Instead, it kept going. Read the rest of the thread. People should be able to say and do what they want... and then that's it. Oh I'm reading it. BS agreed with Rock and they get their asses jumped on. Typical buster thread ruined. It's clear some here hate the POTUS and all he stands for and what he may or may not do. On the PH board folks would be told to stay out of threads they don't have a positive contribution for. The hypocrisy is stinker than a formula diaper.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) The inauguration is a state function not a religious function. I find it completely unnecessary to perform religious ceremonies during something like this. I didn't mind it, and I sure don't mind you saying you do. But some people just can't let anything go, can they.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) That would be amazing. Also, hope you don't mind but I am putting that pic on my facebook page. TIA.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 07:32 AM) Well, I'm on my way to downtown DC folks. I'll be down there all day as my train doesn't leave until around 7 pm. Wish me luck. Hope you have (had) a great time. Pretty cool to see Sox hats in the crowd.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 18, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) The inauguration in lego. Wow that had to take a looooong time to set up.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) Food = Shingo Takatsu Beer = Mark Buehrle Hard Liquor = Bobby Jenks Didn't Bobby say he no longer drinks hard liquor since he set himself on fire after a Tequila binge? If ex-players are in the mix I say: Food - Wells Beer - Karkovice. He drank himself sober.

QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) Thats what I thought. I heard 1 year minimum. That's what I had heard also but then I did some reading and found out that depending on the course of treatment as well as condition of the muscle that recovery for "normal" (meaning not professional athletes) people can be as short as 9 months.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 11:33 PM) Recovering from a ruptured achilles tendon is an extremely lengthy process. I speak from experience. From what I read I understand that. But nothing I read said it would take a year. I posted a link in the Colon thread that said that the average time before theraputic activity is resumed is 7 weeks from surgery. That would mean that Jose is 3 months into rehab. Being an athlete in peak physical condition I imagine his rehab would show positive results faster than a "normal" person so I don't find this surprising. How long did it take you? In any event, it's great news.
