  1. When Jim and I were in Florida 2 years ago for ST we wanted to go see St Louis play and Sidney called and got us tickets.. we had no idea who they were from. When we got to the park we were taken to field level. Turned out that Pujols was the one that left us the tickets as a favor to Sid and introduced himself to us. We were totally blown away. Sidney has had tickets left for us many times in Florida and never had a player ever bothered to actually take the time to do such a thing. Pujols also on a pretty regular basis invites kids to the games from the YMCA and Boy and Girl Scouts. If others were only half as caring as him we'd have a lot of good guys in baseball.
  2. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) This sounds like a nice little road trip....how long is the drive to Cleveland? IIRC.. took us about 6 hours. Whatever you do.. DO NOT SPEED within the city limits on the expy. Jim was going 8 over and they tagged him for a $95 ticket. And if you can swing it.. stop at Cedar Point on the way home. Awesome coasters if you like that kind of thing.
  3. http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/conditions/...s.ap/index.html FDA probes blindness among Viagra users Friday, May 27, 2005 Posted: 9:55 AM EDT (1355 GMT) WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal health officials are examining rare reports of blindness among some men using the impotence drug Viagra. The Food and Drug Administration is investigating but has no evidence yet that the drug is to blame, said spokeswoman Susan Cruzan. This type of blindness is called NAION, or nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. It can occur in men who are diabetic or have heart disease, the same conditions that can cause impotence and thus lead to Viagra use. The FDA has 50 reports of the blindness. Viagra has been taken by more than 23 million men worldwide. "We take this seriously," said FDA's Cruzan. On its Web site, Viagra manufacturer Pfizer Inc., states: "The most common side effects of Viagra are headache, facial flushing and upset stomach. Less common are bluish or blurred vision, or being sensitive to light. These may occur for a short time." That language had been available before the recent inquiry. FDA is working with Pfizer to determine what, if any, information about the condition should be added to the drug's label. The U.S. government approved Viagra in 1998. The drug may aid in the treatment of enlarged hearts that can result from high blood pressure, tests on animals indicate. Viagra, approved to treat erectile dysfunction, should not be used by men with heart conditions whose doctors have warned them not to have sex. Also, patients taking drugs that contain nitrates have been warned not to take Viagra because of sudden, unsafe drops in blood pressure. The drug's label also warns of erections lasting longer than four hours, painful erections lasting longer than six hours, headache, flushed skin and vision problems. Pfizer, the New York-based maker of Viagra, said in its most recent quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that sales of the drug rose 5 percent -- to $438 million in the first quarter of the year. Pfizer also said at the time that Viagra had a 68 percent worldwide market share.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Still stuck in your craw? Talk about letting it go ... I think Steff will tell you Fisk is more pissed at Schueler than anyone. Ron was just following orders is what he kept saying :rolly . I'll never forget sitting at a Lockport football game with my dad and Carlton and how many times Carlton used the "p" word in referring to how Ron acted.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) Not sure about this, Hahn joined the White Sox in 2000: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/team/e.../hahn_rick.html The Fisk thing happened in what, 1993 if I remember correctly? Wasn't it Schueler who had a big part in the whole Fisk thing? Hahn was a silent partner from day one - the sole one responsible for getting the investment group together as a matter of fact. He "re-joined" the front office after medical issues sidelined him for a few years. IIRC.. he had a kidney transplant in 1996. Edited: Oh s*** Jim.. I am an idiot.. I am talking about Einhorn.. not Hahn..
  6. Happy Birthday Jimbo..
  7. A great team...?? Uhhh, no. A great set of pitchers... yes. What do we need.....? Oh.. how about 6 guys that can hit the ball instead of wetting themselves at the plate.
  8. QUOTE(TheDybber @ May 26, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) It really depends on how you measure ownership of a major league team. If it's charity, it's the Sox ownership, hands down. If it's putting winners on the field, court or rink, Reinsdorf and the Trib are the closest you are going to come. Sox have four division titles (including 1994), Cubs have 2 and one wild card. But, then again, the Halas family has owned the Bears since their inception and they've won a few titles. So, how do you measure? Did you forget about the Bulls...?
  9. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 26, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) I'm not sure you understand the subtleties between slamming an author's opinion and slamming a thread being created at all. Sure I do... You said so your self that so many here were putting Fisk as their favorite player and on the Chicago team.. you posted this thread to start s*** plain and simple. If you can dish it.. be prepared to take it.
  10. Well.. he definitely does give a lot back to the community. I say it's a safe bet that he's the most generous owner.. even ahead of Mark Cuban.
  11. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 26, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Are you people actually being elitist about a bulletin board and thread content? Christ, get over yourselves. If you don't like the thread, ignore it. The topic came to mind because people have been putting Fisk's name all over "favorite sox player" and "all sox team" lists. I suppose I'll refrain from discussing the '51 team that we just tied in record, because you guys probably don't want to talk about s*** that happened 50 years ago either. LMAO.. you said in your start to this stupid ass thread that you'd probably get flamed.. and now your complaining about it.. :rolly Don't want to hear opposing opinions, don't post crap on a board about a player many obviously like.
  12. QUOTE(Soxfest @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) How about dumping his ass the next night after honoring him at home in Cleveland and not letting him have access to the Sox clubhouse during playoffs. This is why he wore Red sox Hat in HOF he has nothing but respect for White sox fan. Fisk hates JR and I understand why. Actually.. he doesn't hate him as much as Rick Hahn who is responsible for the way Fisk was screwed over. Jerry is the reason Carlton was kept on to get the record.

  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) Good story. I wish I got hit in the head with a baseball. With your luck it would be a Cub player that hit you..
  16. QUOTE(marsh @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Is it true before they ripped out the seats to the last rows of the upper deck they wouldn't allow the elderly or pregnant woman to sit up there because the air was so thin?
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 26, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) I'd say don't worry about it, unless you feel tired during the day and it affects your work. Mr Dr. told me that some people just don't need as much and to listen to my body. Another tip is don't go to bed until you're actually sleepy. A lot of people go to bed because it's 'bed time', go when you're ready to sleep. Also, contrary to what a Dr. will tell you, I'm a firm believer in 'catch up sleep'. Once every 10 days or so, I will collapse and get like 9 hours. That's when my body tells me I need it. Oh, I definitely don't. I don't feel tired during the day either unless I got absolutely no sleep the night before.. it's like my cutoff is right at 4 hours. LOL.. I couldn't imagine "catch up" sleep. 9 hours.. yikes!! Jim would think I was dead..
  18. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Maybe you need a different bed...either its too soft or solid. I had a bed that was way too soft and I could never get good sleep. Uhhhh.. my bed is soooo comfy. Maybe I'm just not ready to be a 6-8 hour a night sleeper.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) hey, guy!! LMAO.. this would fit perfectly in the senior prank thread on SLAP!!

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 26, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) I assumed he was looking for something more specific. If I had the name of every officer, firefighter, medical worker, etc, etc.. I would post them. I'd also add teachers in there on top of the military. People who do selfless jobs for others.. those are pretty important, IMO.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 26, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) I can agree with the others, but to say "Nurses" would mean my wife would be ruling my house more than she already does!!! LOL! So, I have to just say "yeah, they're pretty cool and all...but..."!!! I probably should have said "medical personnel"... better

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 26, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) The Corrupt, evil etc.....etc...are always exposed for what they are and punished. There are so few bad apples among those groups, despite the media's blind obsession with tumpeting every single abuse whether real or imagined, that the groups as a whole can be recognized as heroes. Sorry Nuke.. I wanted to post a quick response and I missed you guys. And yep.. a few bad apples everywhere. Just look at some of the idiots that post on this site..
