New York, July 24 (ANI): Artists and Activists United for Peace, a black and Latino public-action group, have voiced their dissent over the US president George Bush's daughter Jenna teaching in a school at Harlem. "We don't think she is of a high enough moral character to teach school, considering her past adventures," organizer John Penley was quoted by The New York Daily News as saying. "Her taking this job is keeping a black person from getting the job. We think she and her sister should enlist in the military," he added. (ANI) rolleyeyes.gif

http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/...ics/9257543.htm BETH FOUHY Associated Press BOSTON - Twelve-year-old Ilana Wexler had some advice for Vice President Dick Cheney: You need a timeout. The Democrats loved it. Wexler, who founded a grassroots group called kidsforkerry.org, was rewarded last week with a phone call from Teresa Heinz Kerry inviting her to address the convention in prime time. With her high pitched voice and breathy enthusiasm, the seventh grader from Oakland, Calif., wowed the crowd Tuesday night. And when she chided Cheney for using a four-word expletive in an exchange with Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy, she brought delegates roaring to their feet. "When our vice president had a disagreement with a Democratic senator, he used a really bad word," Wexler said. "If I said that word, I would be put in a timeout. I think he should be put in a timeout," Wexler said to loud cheers. Wexler described how she skipped camp this year to work for the Kerry campaign full time, and how she liked Kerry's commitment to education, America and kids. "The last time I saw John Kerry, he grabbed my arm and said, see you at the convention. And here I am," Wexler said, pumping her fists. "What will be even more amazing will be the inauguration in January when we have a new president, knowing that kids have made the difference in this election." After the speech, Wexler's parents, Jonathan and Heidi Wexler, mopped tears from their eyes as they fielded congratulations from dozens of delegates. "She was a little bit nervous before, when she saw how big this place was," Jonathan Wexler said of his daughter. "But she was just great. We are so proud." Wexler's star power has already been tapped by David Letterman, who will feature an interview with her Wednesday on his show. Jay Leno has called, too. Jonathan Wexler said his daughter decided to get involved in politics after listening to Bruce Springsteen's Sept. 11 tribute album, The Rising, and traveling with her family through Central America and Europe for five months last year, where she saw how the Iraq war had affected the world. After researching all the candidates, she settled on Kerry. In February, Wexler began doing voluntary phone banking for the Kerry campaign, and launched kidsforkerry.org shortly thereafter. Ilana has even done her part to grease the Kerry money machine, turning her own birthday party last March into a Kerry fund raiser. ON THE NET www.kidsforkerry.org

CRAWFORD, Texas - Filmmaker Michael Moore is bringing his blockbuster documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" to President Bush (news - web sites)'s adopted hometown — and has invited the film's star to attend. When it appeared that no movie theater in the president's home county would show the anti-Bush documentary, Moore promised a copy to the Crawford Peace House, a facility for seminars, meetings, or workshops dedicated to peace. A theater in Waco picked up the movie last week, but Moore later offered to come to Crawford to introduce his movie and discuss it afterward. Organizers expect about 1,000 people to attend the show Wednesday night at a football stadium parking; police said demonstrators against the film were also expected. "I personally think we're just a little town, and it's kind of an invasion in our small town," said Fran Shelton, whose family owns the Crawford Coffee Station. "Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I'd be happier if he didn't bring it to Crawford." Moore, on his Web site, invited Bush to attend, saying he wanted a chance to thank him personally for starring in the film. "And let's face it, you've got some of the funniest lines in the film!" he wrote. A White House representative did not return a call early Tuesday. Moore's condemnation of Bush's actions regarding the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks recently became the first documentary to top the $100 million mark domestically.

Can't argue with that..
-
Well thank you Capt'n Obvious.. :headshake
-
And if we don't... you're not going to live..??

I met a group in the BPB last night.. they were having a great time - their words. When the game was finally over they tried to bother me.. I asked how many games back the Cubs were.. and was it more than 2 & 1/2. Then they told me our park was boring... so I asked if they were still having a good time. They slithered away..
-
I don't get it.. so you think that hitting someone on purpose is right?
-
No, I don't. I don't recall a close play where the player didn't go back after running into the catcher. It's baseball 101. You make sure you touch the bag/plate whenever the ball is dropped so you can't be tagged out if the ball is picked up.
-
He swiped the plate with his foot. He was obviously close to it.
-
Actually, he did swipe it with his foot on the way by the first time. Just went back to make sure.
-
I've only seen pictures. No feed from ESPN or MLB. But I bet it'll be on again tonight during the pre-game
-
In traffic, for the third time. Some of us have jobs ya know..
-
We're pretty close since we've been at several of the same games. Maybe he's the problem..
-
Nope. Not something new for those of us that go on a regular basis. I left work at 5 and was still shocked at the backups. 25K people that are not familiar with the route to take to the lots did cause some confusion. Regardless.. 38K paid attendance last night, so can you stop your b****ing..?
-
Which I gather was due to the traffic since it was full by the 2nd inning. And the concourse and fan deck were insanely packed.
-
It's still early Heather.. if there's 0.00000000099% chance of rain within 500 miles of Chicago.. you bet it'll come rollin in about the time I get to the park.. LOL By the way.. leave early today to get there. It took me a half hour to get from the 35th street exit to lot D and they let me turn right on 35th street. Not a mess.. just a lot of people there.
-
Or the exhaustion. I need a nap if I'm going to stay awake for the game tonight..
-
Yea.. I do. But I was fine since I had a hat to keep it out of my face.
-
I think that's a given. Even if it wasn't said. Now.. if a Sox player DID say this... IMO he should have his ass kicked. They need to stop following Kenny's lead as the team big mouth and deal with this crap in house.
-
I meant 125.. I keep forgetting the #'s go down to the right not the left..
-
It wasn't that bad, and I bought another sweatshirt and a hat.
-
No. He is in 129 up several rows, correct? Where we sat last night is nearer to our season seats.
-
I tried to call you to give you guys our suite tickets cause we went downstairs but I could get any reception in that place last night.. Did you stay till the end?
