  1. I've heard the sound bites several times this morning and, IMO, he's not even close to having a towel in his hand much less throwing it anywhere. He's pissed at the play on the field and stated several times he is not going to put up with it. The comment about him being fired was, IMO, not a request but a (sic) "...if I'm not doing the job and there is someone better then bring them in...."
  2. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) In a month or two, we will have nothing to lose... Sweet.
  3. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) Who knew so many people like a s***ty middle infielder with attitude problems? Not a good excuse, but he did have to deal with a ton of unfortunate personal issues while he was here which I'm sure contributed to his attitude.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) I freaking love Willie. Never wanted to see him go. MVP.. bla, bla, bla...
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ May 30, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) i know you are mr. pessimism, but isnt it remarkable that we are only 3 back in losses out of hte W.C.? Imagine if this was Yankees talk. There'd be an instructional forum for ways to commit suicide.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) It's amusing to me that with all of the Twins success under their current regime, we're the one with the World Series crown. I assume you're like me Steff, and you realize just how magical the 2005 season was with every passing day. How's it go.... "I'd rather be lucky than good..."
  7. QUOTE(daa84 @ May 30, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) i dont get it either.....they develop bullpens out of castaways (gurrier) and find hidden gems (neshek, reyes last year) with more regularity than any team in the bigs... the twins get more out of a hitter that hits .285 with no power than any team i have ever seen...s*** even cuddyer and hunter are horrid guys to have batting 3 and 5....outside of basement dwelling teams like the nats and royals i struggle to find a team with a worse 3 and 5.....i mean honestly look at hunters #s...hes like crede with speed, yet it feels like he is the best player we face every year... The Twins are one of many clubs who are light years ahead of the Sox in terms of player development.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) garland is getting off the hook so easy with you cliff jumpers. The key part of the game to everyone is not bringing in our closer in a non save situation (which he does pretty terrible in for his career) and watching a pitcher walk in a run without a pitch close to the plate. Dont blame the players who had 20 walks in this series, dont blame the offense who couldnt muster a threat past the 3rd inning, or the starting pitcher who apparently was afraid of a 5 run lead. Blame the manager for making a basic decision that just happened to go wrong. And I thought White Sox fans were known for being knowledgable. /thread.
  9. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) another one is how about the signing of colon. colon pitched 1 season for us, and all the expectations we had of winning the world series and such, he went 13-12 or somethin around there, and we missed the playoffs Oye ve.. Colon pitched 244 innings for us that year. He did his job. That team was a massive bust. And don't forget he went on to win a Cy Young. That was one of KW's better deals. As for Sosa (commented on earlier as a "bad deal"), had Sosa stayed with the Sox no way be becomes what he did. The drug use would not have been tolerated. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 11:18 AM) Mike Cameron for Paul Konerko.... wait. That deal had even arguments for and against. IMO, they did give up on Cam way too early, but getting Paul wasn't as detramental as it could have been (thankfully his hip has held up).
  10. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:59 AM) That crap wouldn't be on the field if KW had made the moves. Yes, they're MLB players, but they're not very good ones. But of course. I wish I worked at a job where I could eff up left and right and not be forced to take responsibility.
  11. QUOTE(joeynach @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) I think everyone realizes KW lack of viable players at positions like SS,LF,CF, etc. Everyone in this town wanted an upgrade at all those positions and we got nothing and Erstad. Thats on the GM. Pods is fragile and a bad fielder and streaky, and Uribe is terrible and sports the worst OBP in baseball and KW does nothing. Another post blaming those at the desks. Yes, an upgrade would have been nice. But it didn't happen. So rather than blame the crap ON THE FIELD, continue to blame those upstairs. Makes no sense to me. These guys are MAJOR LEAGUE BALL PLAYERS. When they can't complete a play they should have learned in t-ball then they are to blame. JMO, of course...
  12. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) Whatever. I'm not gonna get into an argument with you about it. I believe he did something, and it was bush league. He had the whole bag to hit, and he came close to hitting Morneau's foot twice. You can really injure someone that way. If it was the other way around and someone like AJ did that to PK then everyone would be up in arms. Nice chattin with ya.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) I think another monster was created after winning the WS, and that was the monster known as the arrogance of KW and Ozzie. Noted, agree, though I think that's a different animal. To Rock's point, many fans refuse to lay the blame for the current crap on those responsible.
  14. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) Well AJ apologized to both Gardenhire and Mroneau, so something happened. Why would someone apologize for something that didn't happen??? He also said he didn't know he did it. If I step on someone, I'm aware of it. AJ was being PC. It's rare. But it happens.
  15. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) I'm going by what Morneau said. I think the first time AJ grounded out he clipped him, and the second time he grounded into the DP he came close again. Baseball players don't ever lie or stretch the truth.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 29, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) How long are we going to continue to blame this teams struggles on the manager and not the players responsible. I hope everyone enjoys watching Buehrle and others get traded at the deadline this year, because the offense decided to mail it in for 2 months. This monster was created when folks chose to give all the credit to Kenny and Ozzie for winning the world series and will go on until a new manager and gm win another....
  17. QUOTE(BaseballNick @ May 29, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) Sure, you're allowed to share your opinion, Steff...but Fenway and Wrigley are two entirely different baseball atmospheres. I'd say the fact that they're both old ballparks is about where the comparison ends. When I was in Boston, it was obvious the fans had a knowledge and passion for the Red Sox far more than anything you'd ever find at Wrigley for the Cubs. Maybe you were there for a poor game or something, but I thought the place was amazing. Don't be offended if I don't agree with you; that's what SoxTalk is all about. IMO, no they aren't, which is why I made the comparison, and found it nostalgic that I got a "oh no.. bla, bla, bla, yadda, yadda, yadda..." Your opinion doesn't register on my radar and I am in no way offended. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 29, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) If going to Boston and being around the Boston fans is anything like being around the Boston fans who come to the Cell, I'd sure as hell never want to go. In fact, the Red Sox fans who come to our games are worse than any other fan base I've been around at the Cell. And I've been around Twins, Indians, Cubs and Yankee fans. The Red Sox fans are BY FAR the worst. It's exactly the same, in my opinion.
  18. QUOTE(BaseballNick @ May 29, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) You'll love Boston. I was there a couple of times and it in no way, is "Wrigley East." It's 100X the park Wrigley is. I recommend taking the tour of the stadium and checking out Yawkey Way before the game starts. Fenway is expensive, but still one of the best places to catch a game, in my opinion. Have fun. Sigh.... I see it's still not allowed to have a differing opinion around here. Tony, knowing you personally, I think the part you'll love the best is the mice in the 4 star resturants. Top notch health codes out there.
  19. They stay at the Westin which is approx $300 a night and a rip. Stay at the Marriot. The park is also a rip. Don't expect much. It's Wrigley east.
  20. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 23, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) Dude, do you remember my advice to you last time you asked a question on here? Take the same advice. and your Italian on top of it....this s*** is suppose to come natural to ya!! J got a HUGE laugh out of that one!!!
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2007 -> 12:48 PM) Children who live in that type of a household will always rebel at one point or another, its up to the kids psyche to how bad of a rebellion. There is a happy medium between leave alone parenting and nazi parenting, neither one is a good choice. Perhaps it's because that's all that's heard about (the rebelling), but IMO that's a not so nice generalization. As well, were only getting one side of the story - the side that wants some you know what. Not that there's anything wrong with that.. but like I said before perhaps go searching for it with someone more compatable to your lifestyle. Also, dating a 17 year old is only going to get worse once you turn 21.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:41 AM) Thanks BTW These things happen in three's... Oh wait, I guess we are too late There's at least 2 other members here cooking as well.
  23. QUOTE(mreye @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:27 AM) Where have you been? We've missed you! LOL, all 5 of you. A lot of traveling, some medical stuff, and most recently, baking a bun.
  24. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:07 AM) I agree on him, but she is no longer engaged... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julianne_Hough#Personal Ohhh... I did not know that. Well good for her. 18 is too young to get married anyway. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:07 AM) Yeah they always had such a great time. Oh the rumors are out there...especially since she recently called off her marriage. According to her and her husband, it's because she is going on tour and he is finishing dental school, but they are both still very much in love. Who knows, but her fiance better get prepared for her being in the spotlight. I'm sure she has publicists/agents telling her she needs to strike while the iron is hot. I read she is coming out with a couple singles. If she is even half the singer that she is dancer...look out. Thank goodness you're up to date on all this gossip!!
  25. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ May 23, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) ITwo young people, I am kind of suprised we havent heard rumors of romance between them yet. She's engaged, and he's married to his sport.
