QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) yet. The deadline was November to renew or lose.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) I will be curious on the final season ticket number count as opposed to last year. I am happy that the team is doing this well with attendance. It only helps keep a high payroll and it keeps this team competitive. I made a small Ozzie plan committment that I do every year, and to me the cubs/sox game and a dibs on some of the better games ahead of the single season sale pays for it for me. I hope that the stadium is packed every day and we can keep this momentum going as a franchise. There was NOT 100% retention for full season holders (though there were many additional seat buys ie had 2 last year and uped to 4) so if it's going to be the same than that means a lot more 27 game and Oz packages were sold.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:18 AM) The season ticket line is the key. We used that a ton last season, and always found prime seats. They cut the F&F section down by 70 seats this year. I think they sold a lot of those seats as full season packages so it might be a bit harder to get those. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) I don't know one season ticket holder that was able to get extra Cubs or Opening Day tickets and all of them tried.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) Patience. They will release some seats a couple of days before the event. I believe you have season tickets. About a week before opening day call the charge line daily. You'll get a couple in a great location. ^^. Don't fret Rock. You'll be able to get some.

Zambrano: Sign me before the season starts or I'm out
Steff replied to CSF's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) If it's worth paying all the guys that suck that they paid this offseason, it's worth it for the Cubs to give Zambrano a blank check IMO. Now WILL they do it?? Probably not, they'll dump him for a bad return. That's why they are the Cubs. If they don't do it they are more stupid than they appear to be. They have the money, and I'd bet their scalping office makes MORE $ on tickets to the games he pitches. Wish he pitched for us... QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:08 AM) When will the limit be reached? When the owners stop giving in. You sure can't fault the guy for wanting to get paid what the market backs up as his worth right now. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) AMEN. Most people don't realize they formed in 1983. They were pretty cool up until about 1986, then the suckage began. That's a looooooooong time to be stuck in suck mode. But hey, the records and tours keep selling I swear I thought they broke up after the "give it away" song.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) Wait, so do you base the 25 games off of what someone said last season on Soxtalk, or is this information included in a recent article? Get the facts BEFORE making an educated guess.. C'mon Flash, you know better than that.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) I can't recall a game on CSN where there was a constant hum drowning out the announcers. I can't recall a game where it wasn't humming Is there a listing of what games will be on the U? TIA.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Radar detectors are only illegal in Virginia and Washington DC Then with proof of cost and after your deductable they should cut you a check.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) Sox raise ticket prices $3.00 and b**** about FA salaries, with the fire sale for cheap pitching and players they are not gonna try to resign they have a TON of money to spend starting next winter! JR will keep it in his pocket instead of putting back into product is my prediction. Yes, because though the holding group has NEVER done that, they are going to start now.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Car got broken into last night. Step 1. filed police report. Then what? Call the insurance company? What type of insurance do I need have my $300 radar detector covered for? Who fixes my glass? I was told to go to a car dealership, but then I heard people can come to your work an do it. If they're illegal, are they covered? They guys that come to your work fix chips and small cracks. Big business here in Illinois with all the construction work.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 05:24 AM) Perhaps I'm not the anti-christ afterall... Oh no.. you are. DePloderer, I have some medical issues that have caused me to have to change my workout and I've been so focused on it that I have pretty much stopped everything but walking on the treadmill and I've slacked off on that a ton compared to what I used to do. I've only gained about 6 lbs over the past 2 months, but to me that's 5.5 to many. If you don't mind I may PM you for some program advice.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) You can't beat that. Bowie AND New York City? Sweet. Are the Sox there during the same time? No idea. I don't even know the date. It sounds like a charity event. We're going to try real hard to get to it. Bowie has been on my "to see" list since I was a teenager.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) When was the last time the White Sox had money to spend in free agency? The last time I recall, it was 2004-2005, and the Sox signed Hermanson, Dye, Iguchi, Duque, and Pierzynski - and that's just off the top of my head. If the rest of the team is essentially filled, why in the hell would you not put all that money towards one superstar player? Normal owners would, and do as they have shown. The Sox brass, as I noted above and you made a fine example as well with the signing of FIVE players at bargains in their own right, have not done it since Belle (which turned out just fine as for his personal achievements, G) and I don't see them doing it again. If this season doesn't work, look for something young and cheap in the years to come. It will be at least 2 years of "rebuilding".
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) It's also worth noting that Miguel Cabrera is going to be a free agent in 2008-ish. The Sox will have a ton of contracts coming off the books. JR has been known to throw loads of money at hitters.... ...just sayin Last monster free agent signing.... 1997

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) Unfortunately, no. Is he touring? Are you going?? Supposedly he is playing in NYC this summer. The way it was presented to us it is not a tour. I'm going to try to get to it. I've always wanted to see him in concert.
-
Anyone here ever seen Bowie in concert?

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) I almost coughed up a long from laughing so hard. LMAO@the noises she makes. http://youtube.com/watch?v=90m2Xw_Haj0 I LOVE this clip. First heard it on Stern years ago.

QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) That's quite obvious. I contested Steff's point that the increased 2007 ticket prices are a detriment to Boyer by suggesting the price increase will be more profitable than 2006's, based on expected strong 2007 attendance. Ahhh.. based on an expectation. Gotcha. I swear if I didn't read it, I wouldn't believe it.
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) And last year's season ticket holders didn't get a discount off gate? We get it every year. We don't increase every year, and didn't this much this year. What does that have to do with you thinking the ticket price is not an obsticle for Brooks? QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) Actually, totally true. If you have fewer people coming, that doesn't mean you are making more money. Boyer's job is to fill the place whether the price of tickets is low or high. Whether the team is good or bad. So, higher ticket prices actually hurt him. I think he thinks that the Sox have already made their money from ST holders. Which might have been true if all holders increased 100% and there was 100% retention. Both of which are not the cases.
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) Not true, since the Sox will likely make more money on ticket sales in 2007 than in 2006, based on amount of tickets already sold and the $2-3 increase per ticket. The tickets already sold are to Season ticket holders. We get a discount off the gate price so you are incorrect.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) You know NOTHING of my life. Is it your hobby to size people up and make conclusions with no knowledge what-so-ever? You think I've never experienced somebody take the bullet train? Think again. I know what the grieving process is like. And on top of that, I've asked myself the life or death question too. Does that make me an expert? Hell no. But at least I'm smart enough to realize that you're not like me, I'm not like you, they're not like me, I'm not like them. I'm not going to sit back and insult these people and call them selfish because they couldn't find any better alternatives. I know nothing of these people's lives. And I'm not about to size it up through one single moment. Your right, I don't. And I'm not sizing up anyone or anything making any sweeping comments, unlike you who refuses to believe this act is anything but what YOU claim it is. My comments are based on what I have experienced. Got that or do you need it bigger and bolder? I don't know what you've dealt with and I'm not trying to pretend I do. You telling me that the emotions of myself and my friends family are bulls***, IS bulls***. I am NOT generalizing anything and only commenting, one more time, on what I dealt with. You're right, you know NOTHING of anyone but yourself so why don't you stop painting ALL victims of suicide with the same brush.

QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) With a marketing title, I wouldn't think Boyer has anything to do with ticket prices, but some of his past comments make me feel like he has a lead voice in that decision. During an interview, Boyer said his job is to get as much money as he can for KW to work with, and IIRC, it was his idea to adjust ticket prices based on opponent, day of the week and month of the year. No. It's just his job to market it. As for his comments, it's his job to get butts in the seats and spending money. The price of the ticket is an obsticle for him as well.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Helter Skelter is such a great book. I've loved Vincent Bugliosi ever since. Read it when I was a freshman, and I agree.
