  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Well after last year, that was probably a pseduo-bribe to get the players to come back again. Yikes it was scary. It still does seeem strange to not be going. It has been years. What was scary? They got up and left when it was time to leave. It must be weird not to be going. No free tickets this year. Sorry.
  2. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 11:58 AM) Wow, they cut down on the number of autographs per player big time. Better get in line early, those who are going. Remember, they cut down on the amount of folks attending. I would guess the players will not have an issue making sure everyone gets an autograph if they are in line.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 06:16 AM) ^^^ If I only had to pay for gas to get there... I wouldn't be b****in'

QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) Alpha Dog was awful. The worst scene was laughable,Sharon Stone in a fat suit trying to act like she lost her mind.Just about a bunch of teens smoking weed and dropping F bombs. If it wasnt a true story and a tragedy it goes straight to DVD. Thanks for the review.

My MIL loves it there also. I've shopped there for myself maybe a handful of times over the past couple years. Mainly for eveningware. I have several pairs of $200 jeans but I would never pay $200, or even $100 for them. I get most of my expensive clothes at the Fields (Macy's) and Nordstrom's sales right after Christmas. More than half off most of the time.
  7. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Now that might seem like he didn't know Bonds said it - or maybe Bonds didn't even say it right? but: Sweeney felt it was necessary to have an apology from Bonds?? why would he want an apology for something Bonds didn't even do? Sounds to me like Bonds was making it clear that Sweeney wasn't/isn't a drug user/supplier and that Sweeney appreciated it and felt it was an important point for him to make. People apologize for s*** others do all the time. And Bonds is no stranger to apologizing to folks associated with him who get dragged into the media's inacurrate reporting.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 07:41 AM) Well, this whole story is just speculation anyways, right? Has anyone either than the New York Daily News(all other outlets used the NYDN story as their source) said that Barry Bonds failed a drug test last year and named Mark Sweeney as the drug provider? I dont think the MLB has come out and said anything yet. Correct. I can't find the source of the MLB and ESPN initial reports other than NYDN, but it's clear that it wasn't Bonds that implicated Sweeney and though he didn't comment on it yesterday I'm sure he wasn't the one that implicated that he tested positive for anything either.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) Hilarious: The cretins rule in “Alpha Dog,” which has much the same entertainment value you get from watching monkeys fling scat at one another in a zoo or reading the latest issue of Star magazine. Did you see it Soxy?
  10. QUOTE(juddling @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) actually Steff...apology or no apology he threw his teammate under the bus. Why did he even mention the other guy's name at all??? If he isn't sure where the stuff came from he should have just said so...as usual..Barry has to blame someone other than himself. Personally, i would like to have heard the phone call between Barry and Sweeney after Bonds' initial statement. I hope he threatened to sue Barry for defaming his character. So much for being good friends. According to the articles on Yahoo, ESPN, and reports on Sports Center Barry never mentioned Sweeney's name, and never made a statement about the issue until yesterday. So where are you reading info that he did make a statement previously and implicated Sweeney?
  11. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) You claimed that I said that "everyone hates him [bonds]" as a general statement, which is obviously not true. Is it inaccurate or is it just damage control? I honestly don't know. Again, you are correct. Just everyone that isn't his supporter. Semantics. Insert picture of the wall here... Ouch, ouch, ouch....
  12. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 11:14 AM) people who arent sluts can make videos steff. thats a little ignorant doncha think? as soon as you can show us about, well 29 more i think you'll be able to sway some opinions! I didn't say she IS a slut. I said she acts like one. Big difference. 29 more what? It's not my intention to attempt to sway anything here. I have a 6 year old niece and know that it's pretty much impossible to sway that mentality level just yet. QUOTE(juddling @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) Steff..I'm not sure if you posted the above story as an example of a good Barry story or not...the way i first read it, it seems like that was the intent. If it was the intent then i got to say that apologizing for lying about a teammate and possibly getting that teammate in trouble doesn't qualify as a good story. If that wasn't your intent then carry on!! No, it was my intent to shove it up the rear of those b****ing about his throwing his former teammate under the bus - which he apaprently did not do. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) That's correct, you misrepresented what I said. Thanks for at least admitting that. I find it interesting that Bonds is now saying that he never singled out Sweeney. I don't understand how that news would've come out in the first place, unless somebody completely fabricated it. I misrepresented nothing. You said all Bonds supporters. That's everyone who supports him is it not? Go figure... someone printing something negative about Bonds that isn't true.
  13. Bonds apologizes to Sweeney for amphetamines controversy By JANIE McCAULEY, AP Sports Writer January 12, 2007 AP - Jan 11, 10:33 am EST SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Barry Bonds came out publicly to make it clear his teammate and good friend Mark Sweeney had no involvement in the latest allegations against the San Francisco slugger. He insists he didn't get any amphetamines from Sweeney. He also didn't deny using them. According to a story in the New York Daily News, Bonds failed an amphetamines test last season -- and the newspaper reported that Bonds initially attributed it to a substance he had taken from Sweeney's locker. "He is both my teammate and my friend," Bonds said in a statement Thursday. "He did not give me anything whatsoever and has nothing to do with this matter, contrary to recent reports. "I want to express my deepest apologies especially to Mark and his family as well as my other teammates, the San Francisco Giants organization and the fans." So not only is it not about getting busted taking drugs.. it's also not about throwing his teammate under the bus anymore... Wonder what the next b**** and moan session will be about... QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 07:56 AM) Steph, I like ya, but you have to be on the same drugs as Bonds to believe that line. I can't remember seeing ANY good stories about Bonds. I bet it's higher than 30-1 bad vs good. Get some new glasses.
  14. QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 03:28 AM) Iam just glad I only have to hear her on these boards. She does a great job at making others feel like turd. But what woman doesnt? Honestly, I don't ever speak to people in this manner in the "real world". I have yet to run into anyone who's thought process is as warped. I also don't run with folks who don't want to learn versus feeling attacked, or as you put it... like a turd.
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) We also have evidence of his best friend and trainer possessing steroids and Bonds admitting to using steroids (unknowingly supposedly.) Your response was to WCSOX saying "it's how he treats people." It's obvious to see WCSOX is talking about Bonds in a negative light. WCSOX, do you think Bonds is a jerk? I read your response as "you never met him before, so you can't have an opinion on him." I don't get how what his best friend does equates to him being the worst human being who treats everyone he comes into contact with like scum... If Conte murdered someone does that make Bonds a murderer as well? Yes, it was. And I was curious as to how he knows how he treats people. You read much more than was there.
  16. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) Its not this particular issue that outrages me but just a general sense of outrage I feel when people create problems for themselves then cry and whine about it and expect someone to come fix it for them. Personal responsibility is so not cool....
  17. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) LOL, talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I don't recall saying "everyone." And I don't believe that it was necessary for me to have had personal contact with Hitler, Stalin, Mother Teresa, or John Paul II to be able to make accurate and informed statements about their character. As I said before, this isn't about Bonds taking steroids, growth hormone, or amphetamines. What was that you were saying about reading comprehension? If you want to believe that Barry is a decent guy who is unfairly portrayed in the media, nobody's stopping you. But there is a massive amount of evidence out there that suggests that you're wrong. Travel the racist route, but stick to asking questions relevant and in the context the comments were used. I never said those reading this bit of news were dumbasses... though I sure couldn't control those whose shoes would be close in size, eh... And you are correct, you didn't say everyone. You said "the pro Bonds crowd". So would that be everyone in the crowd or just some of them... half? 25%? 80%.... And I didn't say you needed that contact. I asked you to share your personal experience. If you haven't had one, a simple "I have not had one" would have been sufficient in response. I'm not even going to get into a pissing contest with you about all the "evidence" that "suggests" I'm wrong. For every bad story there's countering good ones. Aside from that I'm going with personal experience over ignorance and generalization.
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) I don't get this. WCsox can't think Bonds is a jerk because he never had a personal experience with him? What's your personal experience with Paris Hilton? I guess if you never met her before you have to right no call her a ditz or a slut? I've never called her a ditz, but with video evidence I think it's a safe bet that she's a slut, which I have said she acts like. And would you mind pointing out to me where it is that I said he couldn't call him a jerk...?
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) Wow, I see that some things never change here. :rolleyes Yeah, you're right. It's all a big media conspiracy. :rolleyes By some things never changing did you mean that you are still having trouble comprehending? It's pretty simple. You don't have to be a smart ass to attempt to make a point. I get that YOU think that Barry is a jag and Barry has done plenty to make your opinion valid. But to make a general statement that everyone hates him is irresponsible and ignorant. As you said, some things never change. As for a media conspiracy, beats the hell out of me, but the writing is on the wall if you care to do a Google search and see how much time and effort has been dedicated to the "Barry Bonds is a mf'er lets pool all our resources and out him for any and everything we possibly can and forget about anyone else that also might have broken the rules" cause.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 01:07 PM) Come on Steff, your way too smart to defend these fools. This isn't a shocker though, the Bonds news that is...won't be the last test we found out he failed. I don't know what you're reading, but I'm not defending anyone. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) So, when Barry points his finger at a temmate after testing positive for an amphetamine, only a "dumbass" would consider it news? I do believe I was pretty clear in referring to douchebag paparazzi who dig in celebrities trash with that response so did you want to unask that question? QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Barry's treatment of his teammates and members of the media is well-documented. Do a Google search if you don't already know. So, what you're saying is that you've never met Barry, have no personal experience with him, and choose to hate on him because of things you've heard. Gotcha.... :rolleyes
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) Oh boo-hoo, people are digging up trash about celebrities. Like I should give a rats rear end. You want to be famous, have tens of millions of dollars in your bank accounts, have vacation homes, and thousands of people cheering for you, then you better be ready to accept the negative part as well. Don't give me that sh*t. If it's such an undue burden on any of these people, there is absolutely nothing stopping them from giving all their money to Katrina relief and taking a job working 9-5 somewhere or joining the military and heading to Iraq. I didn't say you should give a ratts ass, and I'll add that I think if you did you would be a dumbass. And what s*** was it that I gave you...? The reality that is there weren't retards out there who gave a s*** that this wouldn't be news? And why would you bring up charity work when you have no idea what anyone has or hasn't done regarding giving? And lastly, was someone "famous" quoted as saying they were burdened? I must have missed that..... QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) This is a good example of what the pro-Bonds crowd doesn't seem to understand. It's not about the steroids, growth hormone, or amphetamines. He's no more a "cheater" than many of his peers. It's about the way Barry treats people. Really... would you care to share your personal Barry experience..... QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) Well, I wouldn't go that far, but that's the gist of it. Basically, part of being famous is being scrutinized. What I was saying was...own up to it, take the hit, pay the price, move on.... Time heals all. You weren't saying anything even close to the jump he took.
  22. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 09:30 AM) It's just like anyone being pursued by paparazzi...either don't give them a reason to come after you...or own up to it. The American people are very forgiving given time. If any of these players would have owned up to it, the issue eventually goes away. Closest thing to it: Jason Giambi. It's not the stars fault they are hounded. It's the group of the public that wants and buys the trash that's dug up. Bonds is not to blame for those with such pathetic lives that they have to dig in his garbage. Those that do the digging and buy the s*** are.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 07:21 AM) I just wish he would take responsibility for what was in his body, just once. You would think after blaming the steroids on not knowing what something was, he wouldn't be unknown pills from other people anymore. (if that is really how the story went) Him and (my guess) 80% of the rest of the MLB players, I'll toss in there any professional sports player, don't take responsibility, and I don't see that changing any time soon.
  24. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) Long lines. Autograph hogs. Expensive items. Thats a few things I have noticed in SoxFest threads for the past couple years. I haven't gone to one and I probably will never go to one unless I move to Chicago. Expect the complete opposite of this. The venue has changed and the attendance limited to combat the problems of the last 2 years. This one will likely be the best since the ones of the mid 90's. Those were fun.
  25. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 03:49 AM) Well at least the "he hasn't failed a test" Bonds ass lickers can shut up now. I'm sure he failed a math one or two in his lifetime. Though until he fails a roids test maybe the non "ass lickers" should stay off their soap boxes.
