  1. QUOTE(chisox72 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) If that isn't a hint, then I don't know what is.... Cub Fans... Thank you and good night... Well, seeing that the four I was talking to the whole ride included two from Boston, one from Cleveland and on now living in L.A. (all Bostoners originally), no. I'm sure there's some Cubs fans double-teaming, but the Cubs are in first--why would they waste time at our games at this point?
  2. I can tell you that in recent history, I've never seen so many empty seats for the Boston/White Sox series here. Usually that's right up there with Cubs/Sox. And as a perpetual walk-up who bought my ticket at the park... a lot of those were people who had tix and just didn't even bother to come.
  3. Good gawd ANOTHER run walked in. Are we in hell?
  4. I keep waiting for Cooper to come out and tell Thorton to bean the bull.
  5. Watching McDougal implode--again... this is like watching The Bad News Bears. Or "Major League." We're so bad that Boston must be BORED at this point, because we give them zero competition. We're like the team that always "plays" the Globetrotters.
  6. I agree it's time for massive shakeup. This is just pathetic like I've never seen.
  7. a) Lots of traveling Red Sox fans B) Lots of Boston transplants living in Chicago c) Lost of people who probably went to school in Boston d) Yeah maybe some Cub fans In '05 during the Boston playoff series, even my local bar had a ton of Red Sox fans. Jerseys and everything. Riding the el to the game last night from north, tons, of Red Sox fans as well.
  8. Just when you think it can't get any worse, one, two, three times in a row not just beaten but BLOWN OUT. Man AJ looks pissed. He must be hating this. I'd hate it.
  9. I'm not too sure that would help, seeing that Kenny Wannestadt is running the show.
  10. Too bad. Buehrle was having a good game. A three-run lead would have been insurmountable with our non-offense, but 4? Against Boston? Forget it. When I was at the game last night I thought: I am witnessing to two literal extremes of baseball--the best team around and the worst.
  11. The only reason I don't jump on this Kevin is that among so many players having horrible hitting years, it's hard to isolate one as the cause. That's how bad this season has been.
  12. I didn't realize they had changed the balls. When did that happen?
  13. Agreed. I don't get how you just fall over a cliff like that unless it's mental, or injury.
  14. Leave it to Buehrle to still be a badass even though we suck. I love this guy. Blanking Boston so far? Awesome. Our offense will lose it for him, but nice work so far.

  16. The Buehrle re-signing has been the only bright spot. Also, he's provided the only two highlights of the season to me: his no-hitter, and that unbelievable play where somebody blooped into center, tried to stretch into a double and was tagged out by Buehrle, who ran over and covered 2B. Amazing. And I'll give Javy props for living up to his potential--I was surprised.
  17. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) A poster was banned on another White Sox site for saying essentially the same thing. By the way, I agree with you. The next 3-4 seasons look dreadful unless KW can pull multiple rabbits out of a hat. LOL! I wonder what site that was. I guess I'm not too worried about next year because this year has stank from day one. Literally. I can't imagine another year happening like this, even with the current lineup.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) LMAO.. way to keep it on the down low.. Yo, I didn't let anyone peep on anything! Nobody remembers that conversation between us because it was on PM. So nobody knows what we're talking about. I think.
  19. I'm not. I'm just saying that AJ looks limp this year. Maybe it's because he's lollygagging, maybe it's because he's deflated by how the team is doing. I don't know. But I noticed. He could at least try to run to first base even if he's gonna be thrown out.
  20. Interesting. First and foremost, I am an AJ fan. I have his jersey, I think he was key to 2005. That said, I personally have seen him not hustle out some plays this year to the point where I was thinking: what's with the lolly-gagging? You could at least try. More than once. And Steff: remember when we talked what you couldn't talk about? I think now I know what you're talking about.
  21. Did I goof on that? I forget: is it Owens or Richar who can't hit out of the infield. BTW when I say "hit" I mean percentage. I love Josh Fields' power (what a badass!) but jury's still out on whether he will be an above-average hitter.
  22. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox24.article Interesting points--I guess they were there as it was being rained out so they talked to Thome for a while. But really, it's a good one. What ARE we going to do for next year? Point being: -Konerko: slowest man alive, but we love him -A.J.: second slowest man alive -Dye: damn is this guy slow on the basepath -Owens: fast but can't hit; Richar: ? -Pods: he gawn -Uribe: either he gawn or if he stays, his hitting sucks and he's not a base-stealer -Fields: like him although he seems more power than percentage So barring some excellent hitting, fast-running additions (think: Ichiro types), why is 2008 not going to be this year all over again? Or 2004? Granted Ozuna fits the bill, but will he start?
  23. If this game gets played it'll be a miracle! That's some storms that have been moving through here today!
  24. Hell after this trainwreck of a season maybe this will be something to be entertained by. I hope he gets it, as a White Sock.
