  1. Oh I see what you're saying. You got me on that one. I'm not sure, though, if when our middle lineup's batting as sporadic as last night, you can blame a lost on not having Dye in there (especially when Uribe and Anderson stepped up).
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) I want want want Vazquez flipped with McCarthy. That'd go a longer way to solving our problems than anything else I can think of. HA! Who posted this idea weeks ago? Most people were okay with it, some ridculed it. Many pointed out how this isn't as easy as it seems, but at this point I don't care about salaries and egos, etc. We need to right this ship ASAP or hello, 3rd place American Central.
  3. Steff there's no big drama about why Dye was out. He was getting a day off because he had played a lot and had whiffed four times in the game before. Like Konerko, it was thought that a day off might do him some good.
  4. Carlos Lee is soooooo 2004 and everything that was wrong with it. The idea of bringing him back is absurd.
  5. Well good to hear BMac isn't going anywhere I guess!
  6. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) How about Soriano in LF and Anderson in CF? Why is that so hard to figure out? Pods is the weak offensive player here. Anderson may be so now, but watch the month-to-month splits. Anderson may have a better OPS by September. Pods is weaker offensively than ANDERSON? HUH??? On top of that, Pods is a left handed bat, which gives us a killer left-right batting order if he's still around. And TWO proven base stealers.
  7. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) What do we have?? If he stays healthy -- which is the only risk -- we have a very hard throwing right hander who has been tested as a closer but will only be asked for set up duty. This was an essential ingredient to solidifying our bullpen into one that could go into the postseason and matchup with any of our rivals. Is Tyler Lumsden another Scott Kazmir or Francisco Liriano? I don't think so. I trust KW enough for him to trade the right arms. My only contention with this idea is that KW was able to wheel and deal and completely reinvent the team from chump-also ran for four years in the central into WS champions in ONE offseason. If KW thinks some bang/bang trades are necessary to shore up this club for now, 2006, then I trust him. If he thought things were fine as-is, he'd leave things. Everybody was on his ass last year to get Griffey and when he didn't the Mariottis of the world came down on him; trading for only journeyman Blum. Well, we all know how that turned out, and didn't Blum end up having the last laugh in Houston? Obviously KW sees a very specific hole that he's trying to fill, and he must be pretty damn convinced if he's willing to trade away beloved B-Mac. In one week, we've seen Politte go, Widger get dumped and now this flurry. I say GO KENNY GO. He wants us to win. Me too.
  8. I've yet to hear an explanation of how, if it's not Soriano in LF and Pods in CF, Soriano's going to fit into the lineup. What, as a backup for Iguchi?
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Soriano is in left, Rowand and Cameron are sharing center duties. Seriously, people think we're getting rid of Anderson AND Pods and moving Mack into center?
  10. QUOTE(BigNDfan80 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) WIN NOW! Why does everyone look so far into the future? You can always trade for arms later. Right now, you need to focus on winning a back to back World Series in 2006. I agree with this, and I think KW does too.
  11. I love this video too and was disappointed that the music was different on the DVD--apparently they couldn't get rights to the song or it was too expensive. You need that song. Cool!
  12. Fine. If Pods isn't moving to CF and Soriano's not in left, just where does everybody think Soriano's going to be playing?
  13. At first I thought Ozzie was getting a little too wrapped up in this beanball thing--and WTF about yelling at Garland, mid-game? My knowledgable co-worker said this morning that he thinks this is Ozzie once again trying to draw all the media light upon himself. After all, nobody's talking about our losing way since the ASB now. LOL, he just could be right. Could all be a plan.
  14. QUOTE(G&T @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Pods won't go to center. Oz already said that Pods wouldn't move there, and he knows that Pods is bad in left. He isn't going back to centerfield. Um, didn't Pods play center prior to the Sox and isn't the whole point then putting Soriano in left?
  15. GOOD ONE MH85. I wouldn't say that game made me mad so much as that was one of the WEIRDEST games we played that I can remember, with all the crazy sheet going on. In fact, it seems like all kinds of weird stuff happens when we play in Oakland. Thanks for the memory, though! Totally forgot about that.
  16. QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) Who is going to come out and say "Yeah im lazy, I prolly deserved to be released." And even so, there were more factors than just that involved with this decision "His comments seem to suggest..." Is that that hard to comprehend? And then you categorically dismiss my SUGGESTION by demonstrating that you don't know for sure either.
  17. Could be. Pardon my ignorance, but what are "flips"? Don't get me wrong; I won't miss Widger. It just seemed like he was offed in a very public way, compared to Politte, who was quietly let go. Or maybe it's just the timing; who knows?
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Who are we to say that no one did? His comments seem to suggest that this is the first time he's heard of it, dontcha think?
  19. I think Widger was hurt and upset and that's why he went public with it. The only thing is, if he had not been "preparing" whatever that means, would they not have confronted him long ago about this? I doubt they'd just let it continue and then just suddenly fire him. That said, having Alomar might be a nice spark in that he's a familiar face, a veteran and, well, technically... new.
  20. There's nothing wrong with this thread. I don't remember them for long, but I certainly am emotionally impacted by a Sox loss, especially one where they got screwed. It's called being a fan. How can you experience the joy and elation when they win and then, mysteriously, be without emotion when they lose, or get jobbed on a call? During the Bulls' final Jordan playoff run we lost a game to Indiana and I was physically sick after watching it. Because my heart was into my team. To suggest that if you're just a fan this is being some sort of defeatest loser is absurd. The only thing I will concur with is that bad calls are just as much part of the game as fan interference, weird hops and dropped grounders--you win some, you lose some. I'm sure LAA fans think they got totally robbed in the ALCS last year, and maybe they were. That's why I don't dwell on the bad call games. IMO, if you were playing at a level where one call affected the outcome, you were courting danger. It's like when a boxer says he needs a knockout because he doesn't want to leave it to the judges.
  21. I thought you'd at least know him from his being Beyonce's man. Oh well. As far as rap goes, he's one of the all-time greats, but rap is sucking right now.
  22. ?!?!? You didn't even know who Jay Z was? Dude, where you been?
  23. Are you serious? Mullet night and "gay" night? Sheesh. We're tailgating tonight, so this oughta be something...
  24. Wow! Nice work. I guess it's not that "rare" after all. Somebody was casually mentioning that and I accepted it as fact, since the only team I can remember doing it was the Yankees. Well I guess it's not that impossible after all! Cheers.
