Does this mean we get to pretend he's a LF again?! woo! But really, Ozuna is a good spark plug to have on the team. Nice bargin sign.. as long as he doesn't get put in a position where he's more than a spark plug..

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) You really think Rowand wouldn't be placed in CF, and Anderson shown the door? You know Ozzie better than that, Felix my man! I don't think that Anderson would be shown the door, but he would probably be made the fourth outfielder, which is still a good spot for him. I think offensively and defensively the two players are a push, so either way, I'm not complaining. (I'm also a Rowand fan, which twists my opinion a bit perhaps)

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) why? is rowand, including money in your evaluation, that much of an improvement over Anderson...if at all? Are we really improving in CF? Unless one of the two disappointing prospects are what makes this appealing to you. I would assume that Rowand would move to LF (or BA would), or be the fourth outfielder. If that isn't the case, then the deal isn't nearly as good as my previous thought. Plus, Rowand knows (or did know when he was in Chicago) how to hit lefties, which would be a beautiful thing to see in this lineup.

I'm a fan of this proposed deal.

I'd love to have Rowand back, whether as a 4th outfielder or an improvement in LF.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) So just a random question but for you students: any home games over break that piss you off that they're over break? We play Wichita State and Missouri State over break at home and I'm really ticked about that. And I also know that Illinois has OSU over break. So anyone else with big home games over break? We play SE Louisiana and Purdue over break. Nothing I'd drive 21 hours back to Minnesota to see, but I would have at least liked to see the Purdue (Big 10 home opener) game. -

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) Didn't ND State Beat Wisconsin last year? I'd also like to point out Minnesota beat ND State this year. Clearly, Minnesota is better than Marquette and last years Wisconsin. -
NFL games on the NFL network
Felix replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I don't have the NFL Network, and I hate it simply because the Insight Bowl -- a college football game -- is on it, and so just to watch my team, I have to go to a sports bar. -

We beat a team (ASU), despite trying to choke the game away! Woo! Go Gophers! Jim Molinari for president! -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) This is actually a great value sign. That being said, hopefully he s not with the club next year. Exactly my thoughts on the matter.

I don't see anything new here.. he's just saying that he hasn't gone out of his way shopping Crede. It doesn't mean that he's not in talks with a team about Crede, it just means that he's not approaching teams saying he's available.

Sox & Angels Talking; Crede/Garcia for Santana/Figgins

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) Riiiiiiight. They are going to want TWO former Mariners. They pretty much dumped Thornton. NOt a chance they take that. If that happens I'll eat my hat. All 3 of them are former Mariners actually -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) Uribe is playing for a big contract. He is the poster boy of players who are most likely to have a huge season under this circumstance. He's very talented, and for one season can put it all together and be a fantastic player. The Sox should keep him, and let him walk if he plays his way to huge money. Adrian Beltre to the rescue!

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) Are you really trying to tell me Troy Smith is going to be the number 1 pick? Because you just turned my frown around.... No, I believe I said that Troy Smith is the best senior quarterback. I was also asking why Brady Quinn should be the #1 pick if he wasn't the best quarterback. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Haha...I love people who think Troy Smith is the best QB in the country. Brady Quinn is the best QB in the country and is by far the best pro prospect in the country. The guy has absolutely every tool an NFL team would want for its QB. He has a strong, accurate arm, is tall, has proven he can take a beating, and can use his feet very well to buy time or take off and grab the occasional first down. And Troy Smith has none of this? I'll believe Brady Quinn is the best QB in the nation when he leads his team to an undefeated record with a very tough schedule, while putting up some pretty damn good numbers. -

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) ND blew to many chances early. I loved Brady's performance though. He definently proved why he is the number 1 draft pick. Why should he be the #1 draft pick when he's not even the best senior QB? -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) We went on a 31-12 run to finish the first half too after starting off down 13-0 and dominated a large chunk of the 2nd half. God, talk about a pathetic loss. Now a 3 game losing streak. 4 if you include the lovely football loss to the Gophers too Yea, I'm still not over that -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) This is just plain false. We scored Consistently awful. How is that false? I didn't say the offense in 2005 was more consistent than in 2006, nor did I say it was better than the offense in 2006. Hell, I didn't even mention the 2006 team. I simply said that 2005 was a consistent offense, and saying that it was 9th best in the AL simply because of overall runs scored is bogus. I don't really know about when compared to 2006, but I do know that the offense in '05 was much more consistent than the offense in 2004, an offense which scored over a 100 more runs than their 2005 counterpart (http://chisoxdaily.blogspot.com/2006/02/ru...-i-new-sox.html)
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Yeah, Pods was sooooo great in 2005, leading our offense to what, 9th in the AL in runs scored? That is the worst possible way to look at our offense in 2005. It was incredibly consistent in putting enough runs on the board to win, something that is overlooked by just saying "it sucked because it was 9th in the AL".

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) On a side note, Iowa State beat Minnesota 68-63. The aformentioned Taylor had 25 of his 33 points in the second half, including a three pointer that was pure luck to give ISU a 61-58 lead. Spencer Tollackson is also fun to watch. It was a great game, I can't ask for more. Taylor was on FIRE, but we really should have won that game. We threw it away.. oh well Tollackson had a spectacular game though, and we finally showed up on the boards.
